Criminally unknown book on biblical characters. Recommended to me by one of my elders.

Hercus is a doctor by trade, and so he applies his 'spiritual health' case notes to four well known OT characters: Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, Saul and Joseph. All show the different reactions to coming face-to-face with the sovereign power and wisdom of God.

Hercus tries to get us inside these men's minds, to consider how and why they acted. Too often, biblical characters (especially OT characters) seem far too alien to us in this 21st century, but Hercus shows us that we all can identify Pharaohs, Nebuchadnezzars, Sauls and Josephs among those we meet and often in our own hearts too.

A really edifying work. Rec. for all Christians.

A well written investigation of the lives of four people from the Bible. Getting into each of their shoes, yet now and then lifting off to the Divine vantage point, Dr.John Hercus hardly misses the essentials of God's ways with men. Will leave the reader in awe and worship for God's dealings with the varied specifics unique to every (wo)man, even as He never fails to effect His way. Glad that I read this.

This is a great book that ensures you also reflect on your life, much more you appreciate that God's final interest in man is his relationship with Him. When we get this then we have overcome, as Paul says, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith 2 Timothy 4:7
