Addressing areas of everyday life—from the anxiety of visiting the dentist to personal depression—this guide helps readers eliminate the prohibitive nature of fear and sadness. Incorporating such techniques as visual meditation and self-recorded transcripts to listen to while sleeping, readers learn to gain control over their negative thoughts and feelings and conquer the paralyzing and unhealthy symptoms associated with anxiety and depression.
The first part of this book is a clinical presentation of anxiety/depression that provides basic information in a clear and understandable manner. If you know about the subjects then there will not be anything immediately fresh or new to you, but what I liked about the book are the actionable exercises presented in the last 3 chapters. In the last few chapters there are actual meditative exercises you can follow along with via audio, to calm your anxiety and hopefully lessen your depression.
The book does touch on hypnotherapy which I'm highly skeptical about and would have appreciated more hard data on it as in it's actual veracity/success-rates, but that's not exactly what this book purports to be about.
