Yes, let me explain all the ways I love The Hot One. Well, two words...Tyler Nichols! Hot damn!!!! Tyler Nichols, asshole extraordinaire, has another side to him other than a Hot shot entertainment lawyer. Tyler screwed up his chance at happiness years ago and in that process, he also altered the life of the woman he so deeply loved. A chance meeting sparks all of the old feelings he once had.

Delaney is finally over Tyler "King Asshole" Nichols, but what does she do when he turns up naked in her massage room? Oh I'm sure she wanted to grab that magic stick just as any Hot and bothered female would! Will Tyler's wicked charm and surprise moment be enough to get Delaney's undivided attention and agreement to go out with him? Delaney starts to see how Tyler has grown into the amazing man he is today but will she put her heart on the line?

It is not easy to keep a continuing series of Stand Alone books which are loosely connected, fresh. It is easy to fall into patterns or tried and true clichés. What is totally terrific about Lauren Blakely’s new string of Contemporary Sexy Romances is the way she keeps them humming and moving forward each and every time.

Think experiencing a “Sex and the City” circle of friends who are interconnected and cross paths. Blakely has done this without using a heavy hand and every new book flows with the touch of other characters from past books to give us the anchor of knowing this group.

In the past string of books, we have had a taste of Tyler... at pick up basketball games and other events...He has been that guy who supported his friends and also gave a feel of knowing his mistake with women...Now we get the full deal.

Tyler is a very successful Entertainment attorney... he has never feared going all in and playing the risks... in fact, he has relished it. The key to his success, though, is all of the prep and knowledge he has acquired before going full throttle... and only his partners and friends know this side of him. He has been known to enjoy a woman or two....but nothing every measured up to the feelings he had with his college sweetheart... and he has thought of her more than he will admit. He was a driven in college...wanting to prove himself to his mentor and family. Nothing was going to cause him to miss his destiny...

Delaney was Tyler's partner in college... they had a bond which was more than sexy times... they had a deep connection of laughter, smarts, confrontation and understanding. They had it all....everything which would make a future... both equals... both respecting each other...both on track to be attorneys and have a life together.

And then not...
Tyler cut Delaney off...
No real explanation as to why except he wouldn't be able to juggle her and his need for success in law school...

Which brings us to their fated crossing of paths in Central Park. Tyler is there with his niece. He adores her and will practically do anything she requests...They saw a juggler and in Tyler fashion, when asked if he could do what the Juggler was doing, Tyler told his niece... Sure with my eyes closed...

As Tyler is juggling the 5 balls in the air, with his eyes closed... Delaney is jogging past with her gals...He opens his eyes to see the vision of his dreams, dropping all of the balls...

A Hey is all that can come out of his mouth and Delaney slays him with a comment about how well that juggling is going for him as she runs past...

She cannot believe she is seeing him...and he has a little girl who looks to be his...
When she talks with her posse, they are split in how to assess Tyler...One is in love right now so she is open to second chances... it worked for her...The other is dead set against re do's with ex's...They are Ex's for a reason.

This one shared moment between Tyler and Delaney, who have a history, is life changing for the both of them...And it is Tyler who wants to see if the feelings he is having now and all this time are real. He talks with his guys... and they tell him to be careful and not do anything crazy... knowing that is his go to plays... in business and personal.

But Tyler will be Tyler and he starts a journey to see what can happen between his past love and him.

And We Benefit Big Time.

This is a very special Second Chance Love Story... because I think anyone could relate to it. Things can happen in a moment... when young adults are trying to figure out who they want to be...They can make judgement errors and think it is the only way to achieve what they are so focused on...

What was so impressive in this tale was the undercurrent of what real life is... that we become who we are from the life experiences we have had...and sometimes it is the hurdles we face and overcome which have made us into the people we were supposed to be all along...That we learned our life lessons... became stronger and more sure of ourselves, so that when a Second Chance came along... the people who both were now..were the ones that belonged to together.

Now that is a terrific lesson... and it is there front and center...and I loved how both of these two came to it...But I would be hiding the best part of this tale if I didn't share with you....

How F@CKING HOT this was....And as Hot as this was... IT WAS SMART TOO!

The way Tyler approached this... and, yes did the brash....but also did the SWEET...It is the combination of the Naughty, Dirty Talking, the mix of paying attention to what Delaney says, who she was in the past and seeing the woman she is now... all of it together made every sexy encounter all the better.

And Delaney brought her own sexy times to Tyler ...and equal in mischief and swag...She was wanting him as much as he wanted her...She was strong, though, in making sure it was not because she was a conquest... that they were both looking for the same thing.

The best was how Blakely gave us a real look at compromise and understanding one another...Both of them needed to see it didn't have to be all or nothing.

This book worked with all of the past characters we knew, doling out advice and guidance to our main characters...We also go a taste of another one who will probably have her own book coming...

As you can tell... this was a huge winner for me. It wasn't overly angsty... it focused on giving someone important to you in the past another chance...yet it didn't make the gal an easy conquest...For me they had such a strong foundation from the past...I could understand the draw and I was with our gal every step of the way.

Just like our hero Tyler Nichols, Lauren Blakely definitely knows to go big or go home. And with The Hot One, she not only goes big, she goes over the top humongous! This is the Lauren Blakely I know and love. The author who brings her very best when it comes to a wonderful second chance romance. The joy I feel as two desperate lovers find their paths, and that is meant literally, cross after 8 long years apart. That Tyler and his Delaney prepare to face each other again, even it means the possibility of getting hurt all over again.

I couldn't get enough of this book. It is as sexy as it is touching. As passionate as it is tender. I fell for Tyler from the very start as he willingly takes time out of his busy week to spend the afternoon with his niece (Clay and Julia's daughter for those of you who are true Blakely fans). Stumbling upon Delaney and making it his mission to make her his again. All it took was one look and I even knew these two would not be able to stay apart.

I love the alternating POV's since Ms. Blakely is one of THE best when it comes to the male perspective. Both Tyler and Delaney never got over the other but the hurt still remains. And although there are secrets neither shared about their prior breakup, you can sense the desperation on both their parts to make things right. There is great trepidation on both their parts to trust the other but it's handled beautifully every step of the way. You get every nervous thought. Every feeling of longing. They are stripped bare for the reader to see.

This story reads like a slow burn but with a time limit. Delaney gives Tyler a week and they savor the joys of courtship, with no actual sex in mind. But make no mistake about it, these two share a longing that cannot be denied. And you feel it with each turn of the page. My heart was bursting with joy just getting to watch as they fall for each other all over again.

The Hot One is more than the title suggests. This is the kind of book that makes me grateful to be a reader of romance. Because honestly, it doesn't get much better than this.

He is HOT, cocky, and is like delicious foreplay when he walks. When he smiles... Oh, my! Just finished the ARC and he is totally delicious! There is nothing he will not do in order to get what he wants. Sizzling loving-sexy-porn the only way to describe when Delaney and Tyler get together. I need a cold shower now!

How do you feel about giving second chances? He broke her heart in order to focus on his Law studies and career. He was twenty-two and ambitious. He also thought he could not focus on both his career dreams and the girl he loved, so he broke her heart. Now years later, should she give him a second chance?

I absolutely loved this book! I stayed up all night to read it because I could not put it down. Reviewing this book is voluntary even though I received a free copy of this book from the author. I just had to recommend this story to anyone who believes in love and second chances!

Every time I pick up a new Lauren Blakely book, I wonder how long it will take me to fall in love with the main male character. It's pretty much become a laughable game I play considering most of the time, I fall head over heels immediately. And Tyler Nichols? Yup.....it happened in seconds as I pretty much fell ass-over-elbow for this hot and sexy yet sweet, dirty-talking man! He is definitely as swoon-worthy as Blakely's other men but he's certainly a standout in terms of what exactly he will do in order to win Delaney Stewart's heart! For Tyler it's "Go Big or Go Home". Delaney, while beautiful, funny, strong and confident, displayed a vulnerability that any woman who has been hurt in the past can easily identify with. As always, Blakely's characters are always incredibly developed and completely relatable because of how "real" they are. Tyler and Delaney have so much chemistry but Blakely makes us wait for the ultimate payoff in a slow-burn sort of way. It's electric! These characters have a strong history and it shows in just how well they truly know one another. However, both characters do have secrets that they need to share in order to break down the walls they've built to protect themselves. While we know that these two will have a happy ending (hello, it IS a Lauren Blakely book!), readers will connect to Tyler and Delaney's struggle to let go of the past so they can build a new future together.

I'm a sucker for second-chance romance stories and Blakely hits it out of the park with The Hot One. The sexy times are super sexy and the laughs are plenty in this dual-POV rom-com. It's hilarious, fun, sweet and sexy with just the right amount of emotion to create a beautiful 5-star story about reconnecting with your first love and playing for keeps.

When I pick up a Lauren Blakely rom-com, I can’t help but quickly grin as I wear a wide-mouth, sappy smile in anticipation of the flawless fusion of humor, heat, and happiness. Oh did The Hot One instantly wrap me in a blanket of warmth where I MELTED INSIDE LIKE CHOCOLATE. I ached for these words—so raw and real—that I could not inhale fast enough. The Hot One’s smooth as silk writing was MY SWEET ADDICTION. This sweet and sexy story WAS INSTA-LOVE!!!

A college romance between Tyler Nichols and Delaney was supposed to last forever, but Tyler messed up…big time.

Oh my SWEET SIGH! I could feel the passion pound from the pages to me. Words that shone in sweetness and swoon made me feel as though I had been dipped in sunlight, warm and glowing. Love lingered, the scent of a second chance romance permeated the air as The Hot One breathed life into me…so raw and real. My SOUL SWOONED as I floated on air. The Hot One became my breath as I was rendered breathless at times.

Tyler is ready to lay it all on the line in hopes that Delaney gives him a second chance.

This is so much more than a second-chance romance: The Hot One is friendship, a fierce female bond, a circle of friends who are solidarity sisters with all of the love for one another. Oh Lauren Blakely - You always seem to outdo yourself with each and every book! A few things that a reader can ALWAYS count on when they pick up one of your books is fabulous writing, unique characters, humor, and AMAZING sex!

I loved Tyler from the very beginning - with all of his sexy, cocky, crazy ideas on how to win Delaney back. That man does not know how to take no for an answer. When he wants something, he goes balls out to make it happen! And damn, does that man come up with some creative ideas to get his point across to his girl!

Lauren never writes a weak female character - something else I love about her writing! And true to form, Delaney is tough, smart, funny, and sassy! She gives Tyler a run for his money and makes him work to get back into her life.

I love a second-chance romance - they always leave me a little swoony - but this one, this one left me all sorts of marshmallow gooey on the inside! 5 stars

Every time a new Lauren Blakely book turns up on my Kindle I do a bit of a happy dance. I know I am going to get a sweet, fun, sexy book and it puts a smile on my dial.

I adored Tyler and Delaney's story. From their past together to the present, I just adored it all. Tyler was great back in the day, but now he is all that. The sparks still fly between our lovelies even though it has been a long time since they were together. Lust, like, perhaps even love are at the fore of their interactions.

I laughed, I cried, I got angry at times, but most of all I had a smile on my face as I read. Now I am wanting my own sexy lawyer man to turn up at my work and sweep me off my feet!

Can't wait for more from Ms Blakely. Please don't keep me waiting long!

Lauren Blakely is the QUEEN of sweet, fun, and steamy reads. I swear, every single time I sit down to one of her novels, I end up feeling like I'm walking on cloud nine. She fills me up with so much happy, I can't stop myself from going back to her time and time again. Her books are utterly addictive. Little morsels of yum that are always so solid. I know what I'm going to get from her. She's consistent, and never fails. And The Hot One was exactly what I was wanting. It was bookish comfort food at it's best.

So here is what you need to know:
1. I read this in one sitting. It's fast. It's easy. And it's thoroughly enjoyable.

2. When I was done, I was a swoony mess. I went to bed with a ridiculously huge smile on my face, and I absolutely LOVED it.

3. This is a SLOW BURN THAT MORPHS INTO A MAJOR STEAMY AFFAIR. I'm talking 'WHOA. WHOAAAAAAAAA. WHOA' on the hot-o-meter! This author does not hold back in the sexy department. In fact, The Hot One has the hottest BJ scene I've ever read. I literally found myself panting (LMAO).

4. The writing is PERFECTION. Lauren is a great writer, and because of that, she tells a great story that flows seamlessly. The pacing in this book was just flawless.

And 5. There is NOTHING in this story that you wouldn't like. At least, I don't think there is. It's just fun. A FUN read and an absolutely perfect way to lose a couple hours of your life. You won't cry, you'll smile. A lot. There's nothing over the top or crazy angsty, just easy goodness.

I'm telling, this novel defines the perfect escape. The Hot One has all those decadent feels we love in our books and on top of that the second chance romance is ON POINT. From the moment we meet Tyler who is juggling in the park, to the second that he lays eyes on his ex-girlfriend once again, you feel the burn in your gut. The chemistry between our two main characters is delicious, and the dynamic between them is intoxicating. I was sucked in from the very second that Tyler and Delaney (who, by the way, has the best name) exchanged their first words. And man, I LOVED it. I adored the way I was able to disconnect and absolutely lose myself in their romance.

And ooohhhh, was their romance ever so sweet. Tyler and Delaney have a past, one that ended in heartbreak for Delaney. But when Tyler see's her, he's struck mute by her beauty and is absolutely curious to see how she's changed and what's going on in her life. When he dumped D, he made a CLEAN BREAK. So it's been years with no communication. Delaney, however, is not interested in getting to talk to her ex. She's been there, done that, earned the T-shirt, and all that jazz. And so the back and forth ensues. Tyler's NOT a man who takes no for an answer. Ever. He is, after all, a lawyer. And so, his pursuit of Delaney is relentless and admittedly, completely charming.

This was so freaking sweet. I was smitten with Tyler. He's the perfect Alpha and Delaney is the sweetest heroine.

Overall, I just LOVED this story. It was the perfect afternoon delight. An escape so fun, so lovely, and so well written that I absolutely recommend it. I think second chance romance fans will adore every minute!

I knew Tyler's book would be worth the wait! To quote one of Delaney's clients, Gigi, he is &%^@hot!!!!
Tyler is such a sexy, funny, sweet charmer as well as being a successful entertainment lawyer. Delaney is a beautiful woman on the inside and out and is also funny and sweet and runs her own massage business called Nirvana. Tyler can be a bit cocky and she can be quite sassy and that combo really works for this couple. I absolutely love second chance romances and this one is phenomenal! They have not seen each other since he broke up with her right after college before he went on to law school. She was also supposed to go on to law school and it intrigues Tyler as to why she did not. They were in love back when they were at Brown. He needs to come clean and let her know why he left her but can she ever forgive him? Neither has been able to really forget about the other after all these years.
As always, Lauren Blakely's character development is simply fantastic. Getting to know what makes these characters tick and why they are the way they are makes them all so relatable in one way or another. I love how her characters are intermingled in her books so we look forward to them getting their own books and HEAs or getting cameos from some of our favorites, like Clay.
Tyler & Delaney have off the charts chemistry and such an easy way with each other. I just freakin' love them!!!! Their fun, flirty and witty banter is awesome and often made me laugh out loud!! Delaney's interactions with her friends were so funny too.
And let me just say that dirty talking Tyler is totally irresistible! This couple is on fire! They were so hot together!!
There was just so much about this book I love!! In fact, I can't think of one thing I didn't love about it.
The scene with Tyler's hiccups was great and Delaney's cure was the best!
Tyler can be so romantic. When he sends her lilacs and then also sends her her favorite salad, it just made me swoon and love him even more. It shows how well he still knows her and that he has not forgotten important things about her. And when Bungee Jump Tyler, decides to show up at her business and get naked to try and win her over, it was equal parts funny and super sexy hot.
There is also this one particular kiss they share that is just so hot, but that reverse kiss was out of this world and so sensual and sexy.

Let me introduce myself: My name is Beth and I LOVE Lauren Blakely. A lot. And it's all because of books like The Hot One.

You guys, I am completely and utterly blissed out. I'm happy, smiling and feeling good. The Hot One could also be called The Swoony, Joyful, HOT One. It might be a mouthful (no pun intended, but also *snicker*), but it's also accurate. This is a book that's designed to help you escape, to believe in love and second chances, to let go of the bad and embrace the good, and it did exactly that.

*Sigh* Tyler and Delaney are adorable and sexy. They banter in that signature Lauren Blakely way—which remains one of my favorite things about her books—and their chemistry is red-hot. The tension, the need that saturates this book just heightens all of the feels, and it is such a joy. I mean, TYLER, you guys. He is a Nichols man after all, and those boys… *bites lip* yum.

But it's not just that. This couple connect on so many levels (which is helped by their history, as is the case in many second chance romances), that it is impossible not to cross all crossables while hoping for a happily ever after that is both exciting and satisfying.

Which, of course, it is. A swoony, rewarding, satisfying ending is something you can bank on from Ms. Blakely, and just one of the many reasons I love her, and her books—books like The Hot One—so damn much.

The Hot one is a perfect title for Tyler's story.
He was indeed HOT and the ONE...so there you go folks...that equals The Hot One...LOL.
Tyler made his success in life by working hard, focusing on what he wanted...and dumping the love of his life. It's a decision that has haunted him for years, but now a chance encounter while playing in the park with his cousin's cute kid and his spidey senses are tingling and the one he let get away all those years ago is now suddenly running by him.
Delaney was on the path to having all she ever dreamed of...the jog, the man, the life, but with in a few weeks she had lost it all. Well she put the past behind her and started fresh doing what she wanted to do. Taking her morning jog through the park that faithful morning she never thought she would run her way straight past the ONE man she thought she would never see again.
As soon at Tyler seen her he knew he had to make it right. He knew he had to pull a "Bungie Jump Tyler" move right away or risk never knowing what could have been.
This is a great second chance at love story. Its got it all, heart, soul, life struggles, and well duhhhh some super HOT, STEAM, SEX that will make your toes curl.

Hello, Tyler...all of Tyler...

There are so many second-chance romances out in the world, and while I love most of them, they can get predictable. One thing I can say about Lauren Blakely books is that they're never predictable, and this one is no different. Her writing is always top notch, her characters pull you in and make you want to root for them (and wish they were your best friends), and her stories keep you engaged and in love.

This one had a different feel for me than some of her others, which I loved, because I want to feel like I'm always re-discovering my favorite authors, and the journey they're taking me on. Lauren did that, and more with this one, and I thank her from the bottom of my heart!

Pick this one up if you're looking for an unpredictable ride, with a swoony couple, and a few old friends who it's always good to see pop in for a visit!

I have yet to find a Lauren Blakely book that I haven't wanted to devour in one sitting! The moment The Hot One hit my kindle everything else on my TBR list took a backseat and I dove in to Tyler and Delaney's story. This sexy, swoony, second chance romance was definitely worth my red eyes at work the next day.

The Hot One is a sexy standalone giving us the story of Tyler Nichols, hot shot entertainment lawyer to the stars and Delaney Stewart, a massage therapist in NYC. The two cross paths randomly one morning after not seeing each other for years and one facebook message later the spark between them cautiously ignites again.

I can't lie-I have a thing for Lauren Blakely's male characters. They're in another category of book boyfriends for me. So I knew I was going to love Tyler but I didn't know I was going to LOVE Tyler. He's definitely hot, knows how to talk a good game and is determined to not blow this second chance he's been given with Delaney. He's impulsive and at times had me shaking my head and face palming BUT that's who he is. His intentions are good even when he flubs them. Seeing him interact with his niece had me grinning and watching him work his way back into Delaney's life had me swooning.

Delaney took me by surprise. I'm used to the witty, sassy and strong heroines from this author but Delaney had a bit of something else, too. She had a vulnerability that I wasn't expecting but understood and empathized with. I feel like she grew so much personally throughout this book that I wanted to cheer for her. Yes, she had the sassy comebacks and was flirty but once she stopped using that as a cover and a way to deflect we got to see the real Delaney. For the record, I would love to join her pack of friends.

The spark between these two was insanely hot. I don't know how Delaney kept her hands off of him for as long as she did. Part of the fun of this second chance book was that they already knew what the other liked so they had a base to start from-as evidenced by a certain scene by some mailboxes... Then discovering what else they'd learned they liked over the years? Just fun, fun, fun.

While this book is a standalone I have to say that I loved getting to see glimpses into former characters of Ms. Blakely's. If you've read her work (and if you haven't, trust me, you want to start NOW), you'll recognize some other characters such as Clay, Simon, Penny and Gabriel to name a few. There's subtle little nods to other books as well-bars that are frequented, stores that are gone to etc. Those are just little bonuses that make me smile and remember prior characters. But if you haven't read anything else from Lauren Blakely you'll still LOVE The Hot One and not feel like you're coming into a series in the middle of it or anything. It truly is a standalone.

Trust me when I say you're going to want to one click this book. This amazing second chance romance was the perfect blend of sexy and sweet. I highly recommend this book.

The Hot One. Well that is an appropriate title for no other than Tyler Nichols. But hot is only one word that comes to mind when describing him. Try sexy, charming, persistent.
Persistent because the moment he runs into his former love interest from many years ago he will stop at nothing to win her back. Not an easy task as it turns out. But a task worth taking on.

Delaney can't believe it when she sees Tyler again, in his flesh, still as hot and desirable as the last time she saw him. But then there is the memory of the pain he caused her all those years ago. Pain she doesn't want to experience again.
Will his numerous attempts to win her back finally work?

This is another fun, sexy story brought to us by no other than Lauren Blakely of course. One can never get enough of her Nichols brothers. And I mean not enough. The characters once again lovable. The story line delightful. Anther story that will leave you swoon and sigh. Five stars*****

Who doesn't love a second chance romance? It's probably my all-time favorite trope and I LOVE the fact that Lauren Blakely has written another spellbinding love story about a couple reuniting for another chance at happily ever after. In The Hot One, college sweethearts, Tyler and Delaney, are brought back together by fate but, once fate intervenes, it’s up to them to take the next step. Theirs is a story about seizing the moment and following your heart, complete with witty banter, an impulsive, risk-taking hero on a mission to win back the one who got away, and a strong-willed, sassy heroine determined to guard her heart. Humorous and lighthearted, with more than enough steam to keep your cheeks aflame, and just a touch of angst to set your emotions awhirl, The Hot One is a perfect escapist read.

What I enjoy about second chance romances is getting a couple's backstory – discovering why they were great together, what went wrong, and what feelings, if any, still remain between them. From the first moment that Tyler and Delaney see each other after years of being apart, it’s glaringly obvious that things aren’t over between them. Thank goodness for dual perspectives because it’s through their respective viewpoints that we learn the extent to which each is on the other’s mind. With Tyler and Delaney, they try to start with a blank slate but each knows the other inside and out, which means the past constantly hovers between them. Attraction, sexual tension, and an acute awareness of each other meld together into a combination too powerful to ignore, yet mistrust and insecurities keep them from immediately falling back into each other’s arms. I appreciated that the author embraced their past rather than shying away from the regret, the awkwardness, and the unresolved issues between Tyler and Delaney. Not only did it make their relationship more raw and real, but it laid the groundwork for these characters to rebuild the connection they previously lost.

While Tyler and Delaney have to work on the emotional aspect of their relationship, they have few hesitations when it comes to getting intimately reacquainted with each other. With her previous books, Lauren Blakely has proven herself beyond capable of writing scorching hot love scenes but my goodness, she never ceases to surprise me with the levels of heat and sensuality she injects into each unforgettable sexual encounter. I actually whooped out loud after reading a particularly naughty one-liner delivered by Tyler. Whooped. Out loud. I'm fanning my face just thinking about it... The man has a way with words, especially those of the dirty variety, which definitely goes a long way toward his tireless efforts to chip away at Delaney’s armor. And what I love most of all? Tyler’s unrelenting need for Delaney (and vice versa) and their unapologetic lust for each other. They each revel in the other's physical attributes to the point of worship, which gives their love scenes an uninhibited, primal quality.

It's not often that I read a book and get so anxious/excited/impatient that I have to actively slow myself down so as not to devour it at warp speed. Perhaps it was the anticipation of a second chance romance or perhaps it was the evident feelings still lingering between Tyler and Delaney, but when I started The Hot One, I felt as though I couldn't get through each page fast enough. The Hot One is another must-read rom-com from Lauren Blakely, perfect if you’re in the mood for something with heat and heart that’s guaranteed to entertain you from start to finish.

I admit I have a weakness for Lauren Blakely’s men, and it’s beginning to sound redundant that I keep saying, “this one was my favorite.” But Tyler Nichols…Oh. My. God. The title is definitely apropos; this man is over the top HOT in oh, so many ways.

There’s just something about a second chance romance. This isn’t the first time Lauren has wowed me with a one-that-got-away story, but "The Hot One" is beyond sweet, it’s even beyond sexy. (Yes. I said beyond). Tyler and Delaney’s story struck a chord with me. Tyler hooked me from the very beginning with his warmth and wit. So if I fell hook, line, and sinker, then it’s no wonder Delaney didn’t stand a chance.

The chemistry between Tyler and Delaney is off the charts hot. I loved the characters’ playful banter, and the way they teased and seduced each other. Even more than that, beyond the sex and dirty talk (and there’s definitely plenty of that), the characters have a mature and touching backstory, and I love that Lauren Blakely took her readers there. From Tyler's honesty about their breakup, to his resolve to win back the woman he let get away, from Delaney’s fear of commitment and even her abandonment issues, the characters’ emotional journey elevated this story to something higher than just a second chance romance.

And, can I just say, every girl should have best friends like Penny and Nicole. Friends who aren’t afraid to talk straight, but who also know when it’s time to just stand aside and offer support, knowing they may need to be that soft place to fall, or that they might have to give their friend a little kick in the butt.

"The Hot One" is a read-in-one-sitting kind of story. I couldn’t put it down. Grab a cup of tea and some sustenance, because once you start, you won’t want to stop!

Tyler Nichols is intelligent, cocky, and used to getting his way. He's an entertainment lawyer with ballsy negotiation skills. But all it takes is one unexpected meeting with his lost college love, Delaney, to get his head spinning and his tongue tied. She's the one that got away...well, he pushed her away, broke her heart, and changed her life in ways he did not even realize.

But now he realizes that eight years has not dimmed his attraction or feelings for the fiery beauty. But she's not ready to let him back in so easily. She is determined to resist his charms. He begins working his magic and trying to tear down her defenses. But it will require some bold moves on his part to get her to agree to even go out with him. But never fear, Tyler is definitely smart, creative, and willing to go-big-or-go-home.

She protects herself with armor, a sense of caution, and barbs. She's been hurt by him and is not looking to give him a chance to repeat it, but I loved their flirty banter and humor. They have hot sexual tension and chemistry, history, and a connection. They're playful and fun, but still have a lot of baggage.

He finally begins to wear her down enough to earn some time with her. He's a man on a mission to prove his sincerity, overcome his mistakes, and win her heart again. But he'll have to convince her that people can change and that he is worthy of her trust if there is any chance of moving forward and letting go of the past. She has never really fully healed. They are coming back together as different people and will have to determine if they even still are a good match.

Tyler is used to being daring, pushy, and relentless in business. She is more guarded and cautious.

Will his big gestures earn him a chance or send her running scared?

Tyler Nichols...I adored him. He is funny, thoughtful, and caring. But he is also charming, dirty-talking, and just plain hot! He's made mistakes in the past, but he owns up to them. Delaney is sassy, sweet, nurturing, and vibrant. I enjoyed their personalities and connections with their friends. I laughed at Tyler's conversations with his cousin, Clay (yeah, that Clay Nichols), and his friends, Simon and Oliver. And Tyler playing "Uncle" to Clay's daughter, Carly, just made me smile. Her group of girlfriends, Penny and Nicole, are tight and devoted. I enjoy hanging out with old friends and meeting some new ones. They all created a background of fun, support, and camaraderie.

This was a fun, sweet, sexy, second-chance love story with a slower build towards intimacy and vulnerability. I was glad that with a title like "The Hot One" that is was not just about sexcapades. I absolutely loved this couple. Their past was layered with secrets, misconceptions, half truths, and hurt. Their present offered not only an opportunity for answers, but also a chance of starting over. They both had some things to learn about themselves and the other, allowing them to grow personally and together. And it built at a realistic level due to their history and issues. I was pulled right in and totally fell for these characters and their story told in dual points of view.

Lauren Blakely is one of those authors that you know you are going to get a bit of everything in her books - emotion, humor and hotness - and The Hot One is no exception!

This standalone title gives us the story of Tyler Nichols, an entertainment lawyer, who runs into his ex-girlfriend, Delaney Stewart, eight years after breaking up with her. He realizes when he sees her that his attraction to her hasn't waned, but are the other feelings that he had still alive and well?

After running into Tyler, Delaney is a mess. She tries to go on running her day spa, Nirvana, like nothing has changed, but everything has. Tyler has always been the one that got away and now that he's back, can she let him back in or will her walls go up in an event to keep her from getting hurt again?

It's clear that Tyler and Delaney have mad chemistry and the history they share together is deep and passionate. The question is can they overcome the baggage that they both have, from both their break-up and other factors they are dealing with in their own lives, to give their relationship another chance?

This book is full of humor, heat and a dirty talking hero. Who doesn't like that?! I liked that this was a slow build and they took their time figuring out where they stood and where any type of relationship should go. The emotional layers and vulnerability in this book lead to Tyler and Delaney being able to connect as the people they are now and not who they were years prior. I would highly recommend any Lauren Blakely book, as you can't go wrong, but this one is definitely high on the list!

The Hot One by Lauren Blakely

Holy hotness Tyler Nichols’ own book….YES!!!!!! Who does not believe this will be a panty melting turn you into a puddle book? If you have read any of Laurens books, then you know you are in for a treat. I was highly anticipating this book since we met Tyler in Mr. O and had me wondering how much like Clay he is. After all they are cousins and business partners.
Once again Lauren provides a feel good, loving while still steamy and lustful tale between two characters with a past. The book has a mix of secrets, misperceptions, regrets, love, and acceptance. That is a lot of emotion in a book but how the story is told they all fit in the appropriate place.

Meet Delaney Stewart, owner of Nirvana a rejuvenation spa, she dated Tyler in college before he went off to law school. She has been trying to get over Tyler for 8 years and has finally decided to take a leap and start dating again only to have Tyler show up in her life.

Meet Tyler Nichols, Entertainment Attorney, and partner to our beloved Clay Nichols (drool). He has known great success in his law practice and has many high-profile clients. He had buried his feeling for Delaney until he notices her in Central Park. Now all bets are off.

I hesitate to go into any more details because this book is so good and I don’t want to give anything away. But I guess I can say this….we learn what happened between these two in college; what Delaney has been keeping secret and what feelings Tyler has been keeping hidden. The chemistry between these two characters is nothing less than explosive but there was one point in this book that I just wanted to screen and say….WHAT THE…

I absolutely love Lauren’s books and this one is no exception. The way the story is told follows a logic order of progression without being to sappy, funny, or loving. The mix is phenomenal and was an absolute fun read.

➦I digress. So what happens when Tyler runs into Delaney many years later and realizes that he made a huge mistake? What's the best way to get her back?


➦That's right. You strip. You go to her place of business and strip until she agrees to go on a date with you. And then, once you get her to agree, you follow all the steps. Determination, people!


➦This second chance romance was a rather enjoyable read for me. But, somehow, it didn't quite hit the spot. I was hoping for some epic chasing and groveling and, even though the story has both, I needed more.

➦May be I would have been a happier camper if this novel went more in the romantic comedy direction with more ott humor. Because who strips in front of people? OR I would have been okay with more angst. The book was light but was also dragging. I can't say for sure why, but I just wasn't completely invested in this story. But you read it and be the judge. :)

➳As college sweethearts go, this has to be the most cliche story I have read in quite some time. I was not expecting to say such a thing about Lauren’s writing because I simply adore her, however this novel had me pulling my hair out. Yes, Lauren’s writing always seems to get straight to the point when it comes to the main characters, and this story is no exception. As the story goes, Tyler and Delaney are college sweethearts, two individuals from totally different worlds, coming from different backgrounds but having the same passion when it comes down to poli-science. When they meet in college, everything is steamy, passionate, and humble as one would expect from any newly born couple experiencing their journey of happiness in their lustful “honeymoon.” Twists and turns are made, and Tyler listens to some advise that leads him to break things off with Delaney, something that he has regretted for some time since he has not stopped thinking about her for the past eight years. After bumping into each other one day at Central Park in New York City, those feelings and body reactions have ticked once again, letting them both know that they have never stopped feeling this way towards each other even when they have both admitted to have moved on. After college, Delaney decided to not take her career in Law, and instead took it at a more physical level by becoming a massage therapist and has a great career as the fine owner of her own message therapy clinic. One thing leads to another, and Tyler just wants to have a drink with her and “catch up”… Hmmmkay!



➳The next thing we know is that they are both physically together… There was no rejection, or a hard to get. Maybe it’s just me who looks at it this way, but somehow I felt this story as it was dragging and at the same time rushing. Yes, both Tyler and Delaney have this physical pull to them that makes them want to be together, however there was no sense of that. Usually I am very depictive about these kind of things when it comes down to the chemistry between two individuals, even if they are being portrayed through the page. Somehow with Delaney and Tyler, their chemistry was a minimum low. I want something that makes me hard to breathe, makes me pant with the need of having the chemistry between two characters, but unfortunately Lauren was not able to achieve that for me in this novel…

Over the last year, Lauren Blakely has skyrocketed straight to the top of my auto-buy authors list. Sometimes, I feel like I’m in a perpetual state of waiting for her next book to release, so when I get my hands on one, it’s like Christmas, my birthday and Valentine’s Day all wrapped up into one. Getting lost in the pages of one of her novels is one my favorite indulgences. It’s a treat, an absolute pleasure, and the stories Ms. Blakely writes are a perfect example of why I’m a devoted romance reader.

Stars aligning, a surprise reunion, the pieces of the past clicking into place with those of the future… oh yes, it’s safe to say that I adore the whole second-chance trope. Two lovers reconnecting and rekindling a great love that had been lost is a beautiful thing, and The Hot One was a magnificent blend of the familiarity of an old love and the excitement of a new one. I was already on the edge of my seat anticipating this book, so when I did get it, I was positively vibrating with excitement. It took tremendous restraint on my part not to just devour this story whole, but I somehow managed to slow down and enjoy the magic of a lost love being found again. The Hot One drew me right in from the start of those dual his-and-hers prologues and held me – hoping, wishing and praying – until that spectacular moment of surrender when two obviously meant-to-be lovers give in. This is something that Lauren Blakely does incredibly well, and it’s a huge reason why I’m such a big fan of her writing. Her unique ability to tease me with the build-up, stoking that fire until the anticipation explodes as the butterflies in my belly take flight at that all-or-nothing moment when everything comes breathtakingly together.

Tyler Nichols is, well, the hot one. Gorgeous, successful, sexy and an all-around good guy. He’s also a bit cocky, not arrogantly so, but in that born from confidence kind way. Used to setting his sights on a goal and doing whatever it takes to achieve it, Tyler isn’t accustomed to the taste of regret. At least he wasn't until the day in the park when he sees her, his first love, the woman he’s never forgotten, the one he stupidly pushed away. Curiosity and a desire to clear the air may have been what initially drove him to seek her out, but it wasn’t long before it was much more than that driving him. He sees it all with her, and he wants it badly. What he didn’t realize, though, was how significant the damage was that he’d done to her long ago, and when he finally gets the full gist of it, he’s left choking on a heaping helping of regret and remorse. He is consumed with the need to fix it, to right the wrongs that he did to her, but more than that, he is desperate to win her heart again. He pulls out all the stops to do just that, and his efforts did not go unnoticed. Let’s just say that I swooned right along with Delaney as he bared himself in his quest to make her his again.
Delaney Stewart met the love of her life in college, where they spent their days pursuing their educations and their nights getting lost in each other. At that time, her path was clear – law school and building a life with Tyler. But everything changed very suddenly for her, and in the wake of that tumultuous time, she made substantial changes to her life plan. Now, eight years later, her life looks nothing like the one that they had mapped out together all those years ago. She’s happy, though, and she has her best friends and a business she’s very proud of and that fulfills her. She’s moved on (mostly) from Tyler Nichols, even though her dating life doesn’t quite tell that story. He may have been the one with all the words in their past, but it’s Delaney who leaves Tyler speechless in the present. Yet even with her walls up higher than the great one in China, she still can’t resist the pull to him. His efforts, his honesty and his vulnerability show her he’s a changed man, and now she just needs to figure out if she can trust that and build a new version of the life that they planned together in college.

I’ve always been the girl who rooted for the underdog, so it’s no surprise that I'm a sucker for a second-chance romance, and Lauren Blakely’s The Hot One is precisely what I hope for when I crack one open. Her words kept me eagerly tapping my Kindle as I squealed, sighed and soared through this couple’s heart-healing story. I loved every single thing about this exceptionally well-executed reunion. My heart raced, my cheeks burned, and I smiled from start-to-finish as I devoured this deliciously dirty do-over. The Hot One by Lauren Blakely gets five smooches from me!

Second chance romance is one of my all time favorite tropes, and it's a trope that Lauren does incredibly well. She truly has a gift when it comes to bringing two souls who are meant to be together, back together.

Tyler and Delaney were collage lovers torn apart by the decision to follow a career path instead of ones heart. Realizing that he's made a huge mistake many years ago, Tyler does whatever he can to try and win back the heart of his first love, Delaney; even if that means completely baring more than just his heart.

"We were the night sky and the stars, loud thunder and crackling lightning, a Stratocaster and a kickass amp".

Knowing how good they were together, will Delaney choose to give Tyler a second chance? If so, how hard will she make him work for it? Well loves, this is for you to find out.

This book was full of flirtatious banter and explosive chemistry. It's definitely a book you should add to your TBR, you won't regret it! ❤️

When The Title of the Book is The Hot One You Don't Even Hesitate To Say Yes Please.
The Hot One should really be called The Smoking
Hot One because that is what Tyler Nichols is.
Tyler Nichols is not only a successful entertainment lawyer, he's a Awesome Uncle but he also is a man who let "the one" get away. But in the blink of an eye everything you know can change in a instant and just maybe you can right some wrongs and that would be Delaney Stewart.
Delaney Stewart is a single woman living in New York City a successful business owner, and a great friend to two fantastic woman but lacking in finding a man who would ever be like the one who Up and left. But one day the word fate might just be true and the one appears when you least expect it to.
Can two people who were right for each other way back when give into a second chance or has that shipped already sailed. You can't help get caught up in the story of their relationship and know you are cheering them on with every page you turn.
Lauren Blakely has given us so many incredible books but what I think we need to call her now is the Queen of The Rom-Com because no one does it better.

It's the PERFECT mix of everything you could ever want in a contemporary romance. THAT and her AMAZING male POV's. I LIVE for them! I don't know how she does it, but getting inside of Tyler's head was PURE ENJOYMENT! And Delaney is just so perfect for Tyler. These two, when they are together, it's ELECTRIC!

One of the things I love best about Lauren Blakely is her ability to write such gorgeous, swoony, funny, sexy, and loving male characters…and have each one be completely different! That takes talent, and she does it like no other.The only thing predictable about her men is the fact that you’ll fall hard for each and every one of them. Tyler Nichols is her newest sweetheart and, like all of her men, has a special place in my heart.

Tyler and Delaney were college sweethearts, their futures in sync, and they were ready to take on the world, together. But then Tyler does the unthinkable and lets Delaney go, without a second glance, without an explanation. Years later they cross paths in Central Park and Tyler realizes he made the biggest mistake of his life by breaking things off with her. And right then and there he decides he will do whatever it takes to win back her heart. And for Tyler, that involves a lot of romancing as well as some crazy antics that you wouldn’t expect, but can’t help loving him for.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, second chance love stories are my kryptonite. And Tyler and Delaney’s story was everything I love in a second chance romance. It was a wonderful slow build that had me laughing, sighing, and swooning. It had me shaking my head at some of Tyler’s actions, and wanting to high-five Delaney and her girlfriends. These are two strong characters, but both have a vulnerable side that comes through as they reconnect. Even though what happened in college was Tyler’s doing, he’s setting himself up for the possibility of rejection by putting it all out there and pursuing Delaney again. And Delaney's risking another heartbreak by opening herself up to the possibility of “them” again. But, they each realize, it's a chance they're willing to take. They have such great chemistry and shared history, I was rooting for these two fabulous characters from the start.
