"I came here so that Travis could meet his father. Mason… he’s your son."

I was still in High School when I met Mason. Everything about him seemed dangerous to me, from the fact that he was an illegal street racer to the fact that he was older than me. He was the sexiest guy I'd ever met, and I was way too young... Maybe that's why I fell so quickly into his arms.

I'm caught between my strict dad, a boring High School life, and an underground world filled with fast cars and deadly consequences.

When things get out of control, I have no choice but to run away. Now, I'm hiding a huge secret that could tear both our lives apart.

I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant with Mason's baby.

Secret Baby Romance meets Fast and the Furious! Hold on to your seat belts for a happy ending and no cheating! $.99 for a limited time.

The author has set up an intersting contemporary world that revolves around illegal street racing. Not something I am a fan of AT ALL. But, it works for the story.
Mason was a wonderful character. At the start he is only 22 but he reads more like 27. He's strong, and charismatic, yet also compassionate and protective. The perfect boyfriend.
Layla was a great character until... she wasn't.

I was more impressed/interested in the world building than I was the characters. The ending was a nice twist with a sweet epilogue.

They fall in love when she is about to graduate high school and he is the older brother of a friend. He treats her like gold, but the first chance she gets to doubt his love, she takes off without talking to him or even leaving a way for him to get hold of her. Such a coward! I would forgive this if it weren't for the secret baby trope.

This reads like a reversal of the usual romance. The girl is the one who needs to grovel, yet doesn't really. And the guy is the one who shouldn't forgive so easily and yet it was only 2 hours before he was bending over backwards for her. Sheesh! palm to forehead.

I also really don't understand why the father got to get away with all his douche moves! sheesh!! The author tries to make us sympathetic to him, but really, what parent acts like that to their 18 year old daughter? And she was so judgmental too.

No assumptions

This author proved me wrong and I'm glad she did. I thought this would be another cliche baby romance but this wasnt . This actually had a storyline and characters that were well developed. I liked that the girl was strong and really acted her age and not as a 30 year old. We all make mistakes at that age and have to live with the consequences and this was a good example. The guy Mason was compassionate and really put himself out there.
I am pleasantly surprised and I hope to see more like this in the future

Genre: Secret Baby/Second Chance Romance

HEA:

Thoughts: Slightly too prefect and it was a tad irritating that the majority of the book was only 2 weeks in the past but the end was the main premise of the blurb with them meeting again and Mason finding out about his kid

Story was engaging

Was a good read even though the authors sped a little unrealistically through the reunion. The beginning was believable and the quickly moved to the fairytale realm

OMG talk about hidden love I found this amazing read through audio and FELL IN LOVE the story itself is great and the audio just shots it further up. Kira Ward did an amazing job with Fury, but don't take my word for it, check it out.

Good plot...lousy editing

I enjoyed the story and characters but the grammar, spelling and name mixups were very distracting. Editing was poorly done.

This book I had so many high hopes for, what started out Ok, just sent down hill. Far to much dragging out of nonsense, sheer drivel to bulk the story up and this ruins it. You get the impression the story is going off in one f direction and actually its not, its no further forward than where i started, its just drivel. The characters are like kids even after years that pass, the gaps and spaces between chapters leave to many blanks of what ifs or what happens, after all the dragging out, then its the end, which blink and you ll miss it. Basically read the start miss the middle and read the end!!

Fury is just about as fast pace as the cars in illegal street race. I didn't want to put it down.
Layla is just a senior in high school when she is first introduced to Mason and older man of 22 and illegal street racing. She don't race but she does like the feel of the speed while she is riding in Masons car. Oh and her father did not like the older man seeing his daughter.
Mason maybe only 4 years older than Layla, but he feel in love with her. Then walks Masons ex girlfriend that wants him back but he only wanted to spend all his free time with Layla. He even took her to her senior prom where as all proms go with sex under the bleachers on the football field leads to a broken rubber.
Then the night that changed everything during a race a driver is killed, the police question Mason and his brother all night and Laylas father decided that selling the house in secret and moving away was the best to get his daughter away from Mason. Crying she go to Masons but his ex is there giving him a kiss thinking he is creating on her she leaves without a word breaking Masons heart.
Now its time for Travis to met his father for the first time. How does that end you must read the book. Trust me this is a great one. I loved it. I received this book as an ARC for a honest review. I can't wait for Kira Ward's next book to come out.

Great read!

Mason was a 22 year street racer who was on top of the world with being the biggest winner. When his 18 yea told brings 2 girls to the races he never thought he'd fall in love with one of them

Layla was an overprotective only child who lost her mom when she was younger due to a drug overdose. So when the chance comes for her to make friends and sneak out of the house, she take it!!! She didn't know she'd meet mason, the hot older brother of new friend Caleb.

Sparks fly between the 2 and they soon become inseparable but her dad doesn't approve of the relationship. After selling their house fast he moves them to their beach house in Florida moving her away from mason and California. On the day her dad springs this on her she finds mason in the arms of another woman, he just sealed their fate. She just didn't expect 9 months later for a baby to come. She decides not to tell mason and fend for herself.

Fast foreword 4 years...Layla is a single mother who is also a freshly college graduate. Mason still doesn't know he has a son but she decides to fly to California and take a big risk in letting the 2 meet.

Great read!

Standout characters make it fun

The best part of the book are the characters--Mason and Layla’s easy connection and the realistic way Layla and her BFF Amanda talk to each other. It’s these relationships and how they interact that shine.

They're written like real people and do the silly, funny little things that friends do--the bantering, the friendly insults, the venting. It's these scenes where they're just talking or messing around that stand out and make the book enjoyable. It’s not the story line.

Overall, the story doesn't work. The first ¾ of the book stretches on and on. It’s as if it’s building up to something else—some other book. I kept waiting for something—anything--to happen, but the book just lumbers on. The last ¼ is rushed and anti-climactic. This huge (unnecessary) build up leads to very little. Despite that, thanks to those well-written characters, I still enjoyed the book.

I would give the book a 3, but the characters bump it up to a 4. I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Good Read

First time reading from either of these authors. It was a good book. Layla and Mason flair up quick. They meet through Masons brother who happens to go to the same school as Layla. I kind of had a issue with her still being in high school but she was 18. This plays out later in the book. I can see how she makes the childish decisions she makes later in the story. The race scenes are what really made the book. They were hot and where the two really get to know each other. Things go quick and feelings run hot. Now jump a couple of years and we have a hidden child. I say hidden because she really had no excuse on why not to tell him. It was just because her feelings were hurt. She realises this and figures she should tell him. This is where my problem with the book comes. He forgives her in two pages. I just couldn't see all that he went through then losing her and his child and really having no hard feelings. Of course to each their own and everyone likes different scenarios so I say still is a good book to pick up and read.

Received this complimentary arc copy from the author for an honest review.
Happy school days, waiting for the Prom, just need a date. Layla has a protective father since her mum passed but loves her dearly. Her friends Amanda and Caleb are fun but missing her bus one day, Caleb offers a lift but problem...flat battery so he calls his brother Mason. OMG... Who is he, so hot, hot, hot and a few years older. He is so different to all the other boys and she is totally smitten with him.
This is a story of Mason and Layla, who are totally surprised at how they get along and just want to be together. He excites her and she is so normal and sexy to him. His and Caleb's secret hobby of car racing is exciting but dangerous. A story of a shock pregnancy, cheating exes, life changing decisions and death defying car races make this a really good read. Would make a good to or film movie. Loved it

Fury

I enjoyed the book. Good writing. Someone did the editing. What I don't like and it makes me angry is who does Layla think she is depriving a child's other family the opportunity of knowing and watching a baby grow. I wanted to put my hands through my kindle and strangle the girl's silly neck. This is a good reason why little girl's should not have the responsibility of a child's welfare.

Young Love

This is a very good story for anyone who loves the young love: Layla just turning 18 and graduating high school to 22 year old Mason who enjoys illegal street racing. Layla is pure as the driven snow with an over bearing father. Mason is the gorgeous, bad boy and she falls for him from the first moment they meet. These two go through some of life's tribulations and end with a beautiful HEA! Received an ARC for an honest review.

I don't think the Secret Baby announcement was necessary, the blurb was enough to make me read it. Layla and Mason started out fast but there was no insta-love. I liked that there wasn't a huge time gap in their relationship and not a bunch of long drawn out angst. Layla's dad was a bit over the top and I wanted to throat punch him a little bit. This is the first time I've read either author but I'll definitely be reading more.

This story was a real surprise. I loved the adrenaline rush I got from reading about the car races. Reading about it is as close as I want to get. The romance in the story is definitely hot. Surprise baby was a definite gift. Without baby Travis, these two may have never found there way back to each other. I loved this story, and would give it more than five stars if possible.

Hot Read!

Mason and Layla's story was forbidden, hot, sexy, dangerous, and perfect; all rolled into one. I loved their story. The young inexperienced girl whose met the older gorgeous guy with risk as his hobby. Mason was not just a handsome face. He had the personality, talent, heart, and charisma to boot. The storyline I thought was great, and it was well written.

This would have been 5 stars

Book was good but too many damn errors. Ever heard of an editor? The hero seemed smart until he said "it takes more than one time to get pregnant." The heroine had no care for safety as a mom. What would have happened if they crashed- then Travis would be an orphan yet she insisted on riding with him in the race.

Great storyline

I enjoyed reading this for the most part. The storyline was great. I wish there was more to the ending though.

I have to say that if this author paid for editing, the need to get their money back. It was kinda aggravating while reading to come across a mistake and then have to figure out what was really being said.
