I thought this book was very well-written. I have read a ton of World War II historical fiction, but the Lebensborn program was not something I had heard of before. I found the story of a German family just trying to survive during the war fascinating. I rooted for David's mom at times and found myself angry at her during other times. But overall I loved learning the story of this family and all that was necessary for them to survive. I can't wait to discuss all of it at book club!
