So Unorthodox Therapy By Lilah Noir was very much swings and roundabouts for me.
Some things I loved and others, well not so much.
Because of this, I struggled with my rating a wee bit.
The first half of this for me was definitely Four material, then much to my disappointment, the second half I struggled with, pulling this four down to a three for me.
So I have settled somewhere in the middle of these two ratings at a three 1/2.
So the plot

Lina is the founder and CEO of a successful computer software development company in California and doesn't suffer fools lightly. She recruits talented people but expects loyalty and commitment and rewards them accordingly. One of her employees is Thomas, some ten years her junior, who suggests one day that he can cure her of her tobacco addiction, which she has tried to give up on several occasions. However, his course of action is unorthodox to say the least, (hence the title of the book) as h ...more

I was asked to read and Review Unorthodox Therapy and give it an honest review.

I had a hard time getting into this book. I am not sure if it was because I didn’t care for the lead character Lina very much at first or my mind was just in other places.  But for whatever reason I had trouble staying engaged with the story.

The writing style is very emotional and goes very in depth, with both Lina’s and Thomas’s inner thoughts and feelings. It was one aspect that I really liked but also found a bit

Enthralling read! Everything that FSOG wished it could be. A wonderful tale of power exchange, muddied by love and a woman's spiral into the darkest reaches of BDSM without losing herself. Some dynamic twist and turns and well-crafted story that is loaded with suspense.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
Let me begin by saying this is my first BDSM novel. In fact it is rare to see erotica in full length. That in itself is a plus, like getting the entire show and not just the trailor.
The authots writing style is intoxicating and draws you in instantly. I had such a hard time putting this book down.
I adore strong female leads and was not let down with Lina. She is a confident woman with the power of being CEO and owner of a company. Enter Tho

Unorthodox Therapy (The Unorthodox Trilogy Book 1) by Lilah E. Noir

What a rollercoaster ride! As a professional woman who happens to work with technology this book was fascinating to read. The complexity of the story line along with well-developed characters was predictable and unpredictable at the same time.

We meet a Lina who is CEO and founder of ChaosTech Solutions. She is independent, headstrong, overworked and driven to be successful in a man’s world. Her relationships have been less than s

BDSM (I gather, from reading) is very much about one person putting themselves in the capable, careful hands of another. Unorthodox Therapy presents the same basic situation, with author Lilah E. Noir playing the dominant role and the reader submitting to the various pains and pleasures she chooses to inflict on us for our own ultimate enjoyment. Two lead characters, Lina and Thomas, bind us to the narrative with their intense personalities, and once she has us caught securely in place through t ...more

A dark, emotional story worthy of more than 5-stars! Incredible literary journey.

What can I say, and where do I start? I finished this story a while ago but didn't know how to even begin with writing a review that would let the author know just how much I enjoyed it. This is one story that has taken me on a journey in a way that only Lilah can. Her writing is phenomenal. It isn't a light read. The story and characters are deep and complex. Through the sharing and revealing of the characters' liv

This book was good I really enjoyed it. The characters flowed well and so did the storyline. I will not include any spoilers because I don't like spoilers but I will say I enjoyed the story and I am happy I was given the opportunity to read the book and I will definitely read more from this author.

Be prepared, this book will leave you in a hangover for days while begging for the next book. I admit, I was getting bored in the beginning as we learned how Lina and Thomas met, the beginning of their work relationship but just as I was at the point of wondering if I wanted to finish the book, BAM the author slapped me upside the head and showed me this was vital information to have for the rest of the story. Yes this was one of those moments when I had to admit, the author really did know more ...more

Lilah E. Noir is the writer of our generation to keep an eye on who writes smart, sexy prose, unlike many of her contemporaries. Her work is profound and takes trendy tropes and flips them upside down. Noir’s writing is titillating but that’s not its main or core purpose. Unorthodox Therapy is like nothing I’ve ever read in this genre. It transcends erotica. Beautifully crafted characters. Emotional. Heart-pounding suspense. Lilah E. Noir has proven she should be among the great erotic writers o ...more

Unorthodox Therapy by Lilah E. Noir was so much more than I expected it to be. I've become very used to reading erotica, in short, sharp bursts, either through short stories or through novellas. Unorthodox Therapy, on the other hand, is a full-length novel. There's a reason why erotica tends to come in short bursts. It is very difficult to sustain reader interest in hot and steamy scenes over a full-length novel because the erotica itself tends to become fairly repetitive. I mean there are only ...more

Four and a half stars
“Unorthodox Therapy” by Lilah E. Noir is the first part of a yet released trilogy, but if you can forego a HEA, it can be read as a standalone. The book centers on the relationship between Lina, a powerful, driven executive in the grips of a nicotine addiction and her employee, Thomas and his offer of a unique 'therapy' to liberate Lina of her cigarettes.

The book was well edited, but some judicious clips could have streamlined the story. To me, it felt repetitive in places

There are a lot of really interesting things going on in this novel. A strong woman discovering her submissiveness. A forbidden romance. Office politics. An exciting mystery toward the end. Suspense, love, ropes, canes, and hot, hot sex. I love Erotica that steps out of the box, and this one goes way beyond the sex. I was aroused for about 80% of the book, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I would recommend this highly to people who enjoy reading hardcore BDSM.

I have mixed feelings about this book. To start off I really liked it and had a hard time putting it down. I am liking how the author goes back and forth writing from the point of view between the two main characters. It seems like I get to know the characters better. The BDSM scenes were good and intense. The first book Unorthodox Dom touched on how Thomas became a DOM and helped Kat with her problems. I liked to read about how he wasn't perfect and how he improved but in this book it turned me ...more

This was an emotional read for me. I loved how the author was so descriptive. It felt like I were totally feeling the ups and downs of Thomas and Lina’s relationship. They started in the D/s relationship in the beginning for therapy only and then it turned into something Lina was terrified of. But what really pissed me off was Seth. Not once did I suspect anything thinking he was just a bratty employee who didn’t get his way. Their journey was amazing and I hated putting the book down. I look fo ...more

Unorthodox Therapy -- Great Title and it certainly is. Trying to stop an obsessive smoker into quitting completely, basically cold-turkey, was a fascinating concept to me. And I could actually see how this could work. Lina, a strong, confident, independent minded CEO in charge of a multi-million dollar business, which she started from nothing, and multiple employees, would be a hard nut to crack. However, this "therapy" works and works well.

I’ve never really been as interested in “BDSM Romance” as I am straight-up kinky erotica, but I’ve also believed that the two obviously overlap, and that the lines between love and sex—and in the realm of kink, cruelty—can be quite blurry. What usually bores me about BDSM Romance is that so many authors in this recent wave of post-50 Shades, self-published erotic romance follow the same tired tropes, over and over and over: the billionaire sweeping the innocent off her feet; the bad boy (also us ...more

I was intrigued by the premise of this book: Lina Riley is a strong, older woman (36) who is the owner/director of her own software company. Thomas Jett, Lina's former assistant, who has now been promoted to the tech side of the company, offers to help Lina with the one area in her life over which she seems to have no control: her nasty smoking habit. His method: draw out Lina's inherent submissive qualities and teach he

Lina Riley is owner and CEO of ChaosTech Solutions Inc. For being only 36y/o, she’s under an immense amount of stress and relies on nicotine to calm her nerves. One day, a low point in her addiction is witnessed by Thomas, a 25y/o programmer and Lina’s former personal assistant. Having desired Lina for 7+ years, he sees a perfect opportunity to both get Lina into his bed and cure her of her addiction. Thus begins their ‘business arrangement’ for Lina to be Thomas’s submissive for 2 months.

Addictive and intense… 4.5 stars!

We met Thomas Jett in Unorthodox Dom where we followed his journey in realizing his dominant proclivities. Knowledge of BDSM play had helped turn Thomas into a strong, confident young man.

When he witnesses Lina Riley succumbing to her addictive nicotine habit, shaky and nervous, Thomas takes matters into his own hands. It doesn’t matter Lina is his boss who mentored him from being her PA to one of the most dedicated software engineers in her company, but now, he

It was a really long read, approximately 13-14 hours of read time, and that's okay with me. I love and prefer longer books, so this made me happy.

I loved that the characters weren't your usual "hot" characters. Thomas is slightly nerdy and doesn't have that model look that you read about all the time in romance novels, and Lina is a ginger. I think she may be one of the first characters I've read that has that signature ginger red hair.

Uncommonly good

This is my second foray into the world of BDSM literature. I'm pleased to say that I was far from disappointed, and I may have found myself a new addiction!

However, to simply classify UNORTHODOX THERAPY as erotica would be to do it a disservice. This is a fantastic book whatever your genre of choice. Of course, its graphic sex and violence may not be to everyone's taste, but if you're not easily offended, there's a gripping story within these pages which kept me compelled from th

Unorthodox Therapy is a book that I could not put down. The story, in a nutshell, is that Lina is a tightly controlled business owner who uses smoking as a stress reliever but is trying to kick the habit.
