The classy reference. I don't see much new in the new version, but I read the 2nd ed. substantially.

Way too many equations for a relatively quick read (admittedly over several months at a few pages a day).

Much interesting info on exotic devices that go way beyond the usual BJT and MOSFET.

Although this book is too old to delve in any considerable depth into the nano regime it explains the basics of bulk semiconductors better than anything else I know of thats out there.
