Strong enough to protect her. Bold enough to love her.

When good girl Margo Connelly becomes Lamar "Striker" Jennings's latest assignment, she knows she's in trouble. And not just because he's been hired to protect her from an underworld criminal. The reformed bad boy's appeal is breaching all her defenses, and as the threats against her increase, Margo isn't sure which

#TooManyBooks you feel?

I was intrigued by the blurb and thought why not? Big mistake on my part.

Although I liked that ex-cons were trained to become protectors.

To the actual plot of the book I really do not know how likely that would actually happen. I guess that is someone as coldblooded as the villain in the book it is possible.

The main characters were there but for all that I cared they could have been replaced with any Tom, Dick or Henrietta. There was a lot of head b

Intriguing cover? Yep. Riveting story line? Oh yeah. Character appreciation? Sure. Execution? Eh...could have been better....

Margo has been sequestered for the last 6 weeks while on jury duty. As the sentence is read, everything in her life and around her changes when her life is threatened. In order to protect her, her uncle hires a security firm for around the clock protection. And of course, what kind of story would it be if the protector and protectee didn't have some kind

Brenda Jackson has some plot twists and turns in this first book of the Protector series. She laid a good foundation for the other books. I wish I could meet Striker in the flesh. His romance with Margo was hot and sensual. The heat was off the Richter scale. I loved the suspense factor. There were so many killers in this story, and evidently there will be more murders to solve in the follow-up reads. There were so many characters and storyline strings that only a professional could keep the rea ...more

Margo was on a jury and now has to be protected because the crime boss they sent away has had people associated with the case killed.

Striker is a ex con who has been assigned to watch Margo. I really liked Striker and heating his backstory made my heart sad. He's a good person and is willing to do anything to protect the people he loves.

Striker and Margo are both attracted to each other but they don't want to act on it because they it wouldn't be professional. Eventually they do get together b

Margo and Striker were an interesting couple. I was interested in their story and I liked it for the most part, but with some reservations.

There was an appeal in the idea that she was strong and independent, but needed to rely on Striker to keep her safe, although I found myself slightly annoyed with her at the beginning with the way she treated him. This resolves quickly, for the most part and I am not even totally able to say that her reac

The first of what looks like another series, this one focuses on sexy men who run a private security business. Striker Jennings, to be exact, and Margo Connelly, who runs her own wedding gown design business. When she is threatened along with the rest of the jury and the others in the courtroom when a mob boss was sentenced to prison, the uncle she never knew hires Striker to protect her. In the course of doing so, he finds he needs protection from her after she steals his heart, something he ne ...more

I wanted to love this book but Brenda Jackson fell on the Romantic Suspense sword and made the book about 80% sex and 10% Story. The sex was fueled by lust making the story unbelievable even for this girl.
Between the random thoughts they thought or the random tangent the characters would go off on I soon found the story to be long winded. Not to mention the long winded dialogue that would slow the story to a snails pace. causing me to put the book down debating whether to finish it or not.

It was intriguing.
It was also a lot.
Coco Chanel says take a piece of jewelry off when you leave the house.
This story needed a lot of jewelry to take off.
However, it was never dull. I just couldn't keep in the vibe of the story.
I love an over protective body guard.
But, I struggled with this one.
It was just too many moving parts.

This is the first book in this series. We get introduced to all the characters for the coming books. This book focuses on Lamar “Striker” Jennings and Margo Connelly.

Striker is pulled in to protect Margo after the criminal she convicts during jury duty threatens everyone in the room with death and people actually start dying. Margo and Striker are instantly attracted but wait a few weeks before acting on it. In the mean time, we get ALL their thoughts along the way. I am all for getting a littl

The last good book, Delaney's Desert Sheikh, that I read from this author was in 2002 and I'm still waiting. I wanted to like Forget in Desire. I was ready for it to be so good. I was ready for a hero I could get behind. I was ready for a heroine I could say - yes, that's what I would do! I was ready for a love story that would make me know that I wasn't wasting my time. I was ready.

This is the first book in 'The Protector' series and sets up at least three heroes and their lucky ladies. First

Brenda Jackson is back with a new series featuring the sexy and sinful protectors. For those of us who have read the Granger series and are familiar with Sheppard’s story, we will recognize these protectors who grace the pages of Jackson’s latest novel.

In this first book, we get to know Striker Jennings. He agrees to protect Margo Connelly, a person very important to his boss Roland. Margo served as a juror on a high-profile case for six weeks. When the defendant became incensed at the ruling, he

Bodyguard falls for the charge he is responsible for protecting.

The reformed bad boy's appeal is breaching all her defenses, and as the threats against her increase, Margo isn't sure which is more dangerous: the gangster targeting her, or the far too alluring protector tempting her to let loose

It's always such a bummer when a great cover hides a crap read. I had high hopes for FORGED IN DESIRE, but no such luck.

Margo Connelly didn't expect to have her life in danger simply by serving on jury duty, but once bodies start dropping, she knows she's in deep shit. A family member hires Lamar "Striker" Jennings to protect her from the underground monster bent on destroying anyone associated with the case, but neither is expecting the heat generated between the two of them when they go into

Margo Connelly was picked for jury duty on a high profile case, which has far reaching consequences. There's a hitman out to pick off everyone who was in court that day, and the police cannot get the jump on it. So now she has a protector, which she's rebelling against, especially since that protector is mouth watering hot, and Margo is done with men. Lamar 'Striker' Jennings works for a very successful security company, and he's never let any distractions get in the way of him keeping his charg ...more

I'm giving the book 3.5 STARS. This was a decent read and if you're a reader who loves suspense, thriller, with a bit of mystery then yes this is the right book for you.

This one was not my favorite but one thing I can say though, is the author gives nothing away. She had me guessing and not knowing what was going to happen the whole time. She had me thinking and trying to predict what was going to happen next with Margo, which kept me into the story. I liked the idea of Striker. The wh

Margo Connelly is indeed your basic good girl. She enjoys a quiet life making wedding dresses. All that changes when a mob boss makes threats against her. She is winds up with a protector, Lamar “Striker” Jennings. Margo is not sure who is worse for her health - her protector or the ones after her. As the threat to her increases so too does the desire she feels for Striker.

Striker has not always lived on the right side of the law and he is sure that a woman like Margo is not for him. Passion inc

This is the first in a series from Brenda Jackson and the blurb really caught my eye. I started out hooked with this book; the premise was really strong in the beginning but my interest didn't hold as strong as I expected it to hold.

I liked our main couple, I really did. Former bad boy turned good guy (who of course is smoking hot) and the good girl is a classic combination for a reason. Her profession was a fun one and one that provided a unique set of circumstances

Margo is a wedding dress designer who winds up as a jury member for a gruesome 6 week trial of a dangerous mobster. All she wants to do is find the man guilty and be on with her life but after a courtroom threat she instead, finds herself being protected by Lamar Jennings. She doesn't appreciate that her uncle has hired a bodyguard for her like she can't take care of herself at 26 but the alternative is to move back home with him and his current mistress. Margo Connelly only did her civic duty to serve on a jury, now along with many others she is on a hit list. An evil villain decided they must all die.
Lamar Striker Jennings is given the job of protecting the niece of his boss. The rest of the team will back him up.
Like anyone who has their life disrupted our heroine is not happy. Handing control over to someone else is not easy.
Our hero is determined to protect her whether she likes it or not, and it will be done his way.
A real nail biter. T

Margo was part in a jury that convicted a very connected man. He vowed to have every single person in that court room killed. It didn't matter if it was someone on the jury, a lawyer, a member of the media or the judge. Erickson had a lot of people on his enforcement included. Margo's Uncle Frazier contacted Roland to have his agency handle Margo's protection. This case is personal to Roland and since he is recovering from a gunshot wound, he had his best guy take on Margo's case. ...more

Gosh there was so much going on here, too much really. If this is book 1 in a series, it's pretty apparent that it's a spin off of another series (or two) as there are several secondary characters whose back stories are explained at a level you normally wouldn't get, especially when it's repeatedly re-told. The main storyline was fine, regular assassin after the h, family member hires H as bodyguard (sorry Protector) they have feelings which leads to sexy times (repeatedly). You later have two o ...more

Lamar Striker Jennings, WOW

Now when you say drama and suspense, with all types of sexual tension, passion and heat. Then we know you're speaking of Striker and Margo's story. What I appreciated more is the connectivity with the Grangers. It's important to visit old characters and see them thrive. Striker was everything we knew he would be, the ultimate protector. In the midst of everything Margo and Striker knew that in order to grow they definitely needed to let their guards down.
