Avril Lavigne has gradually won the respect of music fans and industry insiders alike for her uncompromising attitude, and refusal to conform to the stereotypical sex pot mold of her female contemporaries. Increasingly sophisticated musically, Lavigne is poised to become one of her generation's greatest singers and pop music innovators.
This is a somewhat unusual book in its approach. The first part of her book deals with her early life, her singing and her attempt to get a record contract. It also discusses how she dropped out of school to pursue her music career and just how much of a risk she took doing that.
The next section talks about her music, her voice, her songwriting (and a controversy there) and her musical style. It moves on to talk about her marriage and her acting career.
Then it does what other books don't do and that is discuss 'What can a young artist learn from Avril Lavigne?' This is a well-done section discussing practical things for some young person who wants to become a singer.
The book also includes a timeline, a discography, a glossary, more information, a bibliography and even an index. A small book that is well done.
