Eden lived a life of abuse at the hands of her father. She vowed that she would never rely on another person again. She would take care of herself. She was doing good until she witnessed the murder of her boss. Now she's being hunted down by two criminals. There isn't enough police to spare for her protection, and she doesn't want it anyway. Steven has to deal with his demons from his time in the army. When his friend asks for a favor, providing protection for Eden, he can't say no. They both have things to overcome, but can they do it before danger comes knocking? Their both attracted to one another, but neither wants to be in their current situation either. This book was a nice, quick read. I think it could have benefited from some more character development. The conflict resolution was a little too quick and easy between them but given the length of the book it worked out well. This was my first book by this author and I would definitely be interested in reading more.
Protecting Eden by Kay Eden is the story of Eden a young lady who is working late at her job when her boss runs into her office to tell her to hide. She finds herself in the middle of his mess. Her boss has been involved in some shady dealings which have resulted in him getting himself killed and putting Eden’s life in danger. Luckily for her someone heard the gun shot which resulted in the cops arriving before she too was killed. Now with limited resources the detective on the case enlist his friend to watch over Eden till the guys can be caught. Steven is a good man but he is still dealing with his time in Afghanistan. He has his demons and babysitting for some women is not in his plan. Theirs is a story of 2 people who are in a situation they don’t want to be in. Each has their own set of issues to deal with. A nice story of 2 damaged people finding healing in a less than ideal situation. I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review. I give this story 3.5 stars.
Four Suspenseful Stars! Eden was working late one evening when she is involved in a shooting where her boss is shot and killed. The police do not know who killed him so they place her in protective custody. Steven is suffering with his own demons after discharging from the military and definitely does not want to babysit Eden. Steven and Eden have an attraction toward one another that they can not deny. Will they give in to their attraction and will they find the killer? This is a beautifully written story about two people who are damaged but when they come together they are whole again. This is the first book by Ms. Blake and I enjoyed it! The characters have great chemistry. This is a book has a lot of suspense, mystery and romance. You must one click this book!
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.
This book is a novella and was quite fast-paced. Ms. Blake wrote a decent story about overcoming our pasts and learning to heal. The writing was a bit juvenile and the sex scenes didn’t have the amount of heat I usually read. While Steven and Eden had good chemistry, I felt that there wasn’t enough story arc to really delve into their character's psyche. At times, the conversations felt forced and the story didn’t quite flow for me. I believe that this story has a lot of potential and the characters that were introduced have a lot of story left to tell. Though this book didn’t jive with me overall, I would be interested in reading more from this author. I will give this story 3.5 stars.
dealing with shady people can get you killed and when her boss gets murdered Eden is now running from the same shady people who killed her boss. Enter Steven ex Army who is battling his own issues. These two are each dealing with demons and from the outside when you look at them they don't belong together it doesn't make sense, but when you kick back and let the story wrap you around it, it will begin to get you hooked and then, you get to see, yes these 2 need each other, I just wish the story was longer.
