I really loved this book!
Quinn has always done the right thing, until today. Today he decided to rob the bank in town. He knew his friend Tom the sheriff was out of town and would be for another day. Quinn felt there was no other way. The bank's owner had called in the note on his ranch and everything he and his mother worked for was going to be taken away. So Quinn decides to rob the bank and get some funds so he can leave town, and find another ranch far away to buy. He does not count on tripping over the new school teacher as he is making is get away. Winifred, has come to Texas in search of adventure. She has read so much about the west in the dime novels that she devours that she can not wait. She is not scared at all about stumbling on a bank robbery she is actually trying to get a closer look when she inadvertently trips Quinn. Quinn's bandanna falls down momentarily and he decides he must bring Winifred with him so she can't identify him.
They leave on a true adventure that make me smile and laugh the whole way. Quinn gives Winifred the nickname of "Fred" - which makes her feel more like a character in her dime novels. And he is shocked that she is willingly going with him and writing in her journal along the way. During this journey Quinn starts to have feelings for Fred and Fred can't believe a man like Quinn can find her appealing.
The book also includes the side stories of what is happening in town and the posse who are tracking the duo down.
