I met Jana Oliver at NOLAstorycon and since this is her odd duck self published book set in New Orleans I had to get it.

Now I just need to find some time to read it.

It may sound an odd thing to say about a novel set on the seedier streets of post-Katina New Orleans and featuring blackmail, bereavement, deception and gory ritualistic murders by a serial killer, but "Dead Easy" was a fun read.

It reminded me of the kind of TV show that I can relax into because, even when murder is involved, things will stay hopeful. "Dead Easy" is much more like watching an episode of "Rizzoli & Isles " than an episode of "Criminal Minds".

"Dead Easy" has a strong, twisty plot

Great story though I had hoped the more supernatural storylines would become more developed. New Orleans is firmly on my list now of places I need to visit.

I'd probably give a 4 if not for all the little editing things that were overlooked that really distracted me. Words like a, of, the....so small but so important! And so annoying when they are missed so many times!
I enjoyed the story even if I did figure out the murderer before it was officially revealed. The tension managed to remain despite that. The characters didn't seem fake, the circumstances didn't seem farfetched, the relationships made sense.

I really enjoyed this story! So many good twists and suspense. I really loved the characters and would love to see more of them although I think this is a standalone novel.
