This book is one of my most treasured possessions. When I left my elementary school almost twenty years ago, I begged the school librarian to let me keep it. She understood, as I did, that a 600+ page book published in 1926, with only a few woodcut illustrations, was not likely to capture the interest of the average 10-year-old.
