Raging Storm is book two in the Remnant Series. I definitely recommend reading book one, Deep Shadows, as it sets up the devastating situation that these characters find themselves in and gives a lot of good background information that helps the reader understand what Max, Shelby, Carter, and all of the characters in this novel are facing.

I absolutely loved Deep Shadows, yet I loved Raging Storm even more! I really appreciated that the novel covered not only the journey to Austin that Max, Shelb

Once you turn that first page and get your bearings, remembering the first book Deep Shadows and the solar flare that put us where we are today.
I felt like I was reading a movie and I was one of the participants, and there were bullets whizzing past my head, and found myself ducking. Can you imagine even where you live; no more power and nothing with computer chips working? How would you survive, do we have the skills to, and found myself questioning my abilities, I do live in the country and ha

I always highly anticipate reading Vannetta Chapman's new releases. Raging Storm is certainly no exception and reading it has further cemented my opinion of her as an author with varied talents who can and does write fiction that is clean, exciting, interesting, and thought provoking.

As book two in The Remnant Series opens, Raging Storm has the featured individuals from book one (Deep Shadows) now venturing forth to find medical supplies for the inhabitants of their small town. They must try to

Having read Vannetta's first book in this series entitled "The Remnant". I was eagerly anticipating the adventures that this book would bring!! Never would I have thought that I would be "hooked" on Dystopian fiction!! BUT, I am now (at least with the author being Vannetta Chapman)!! Her first book, "Deep Shadows" had me on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding ! I am pleased to say that this second book was certainly no disappointment!! It is totally believable , thus very frightening. The ...more

Truth be told this series kind of scares me. It has left me with a whole string of 'what ifs' that make me realize that I am totally doomed if a solar flare actually does wipe out all modern technology. LOL And yes, I know this is fiction but Chapman has created a realistic vision of what life might be like after this kind of natural disaster. And it's unsettling. But makes for a riveting read.

This is book two in the Remnant series and this is definitely a case of needing to read the books in or

*I received a copy of this book from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review*

This book was an excellent interpretation of what would happen if the world lost all power - this book shows us how reliant we, as the human race, have become on technology in this day and age.

I must admit, for me, this book dragged until I reached about halfway. The events kept repeating themselves - meet a good group who wants to help, meet an evil group who take your belongings, meet another good group, etc. I f

Let me start off saying you need to read this series in order (Overshadowed, Deep Shadows and then Raging Storm) to understand and grasp what is happening.

This is the best dystopian series I have read to date and that says a lot considering I love the Hunger Games series. Chapman incorporates Christianity into the novels without overpowering the reader. She makes you think while you are reading and take notice of what is happening in the real world. Could this really happen and am I prepared in

A solar flare has caused chaos. People are afraid. Medicine, food and other supplies are in short supply. With no electricity, how will people survive? Carter needs insulin and Shelby is determined to find the needed medicine for her son. This story takes the reader on the continuous journey of the pursuit of items needed to survive. The author gives such details that I felt as if I was right there along with the people in the story. Could this really happen? When you read this story, you will w ...more

Raging Storm by Vannetta Chapman is the second book in The Remnant series. Shelby Sparks and her son, Carter have relocated with Max Berkman to High Fields. High Fields is the farm belonging to Gloria and Roy Berkman, Max’s parents. With the destruction of the Sparks home and the problems Abney is encountering, it made sense to relocate. But Shelby does not plan on staying at the farm for long. She needs to get to Austin to find more insulin for Carter. Shelby’s first priority is taking care of ...more

I loved this book. I hope that what happens in this book never happens in real life but I know that it could. This really shows what people will be like during such a crisis. It is hard to envision but from what has happened over the last few years when only a small tragedy occurs it really isn't. I loved the characters and hope they all survive in the next installment. It is going to be hard to wait for book three. I received a copy of this book from Harvest House Publishers for a fair and hone ...more

What if you suddenly found yourself launched into a new era of primitive living? One where chaos ruled the terrain, everything you knew had suddenly disappeared, and the only person you could trust is yourself.

Would you survive?

Vannetta Chapman’s sequel novel in The Remnant Series, Raging Storm, dwells on this kind of survival. The kind of survival that looks beyond the next five minutes, the next few hours, the next day. The kind of survival that sees beyond the rising chaos and raging uncertai

I enjoyed this book overall, although "enjoy" seems like an odd descriptor when we're dealing with the near-total collapse of society... :P

Honestly, Carter's parts were my favorite in this installment, and I found myself understanding and appreciating his perspective quite a bit. I love how, even with everything he's been through, he still looks for ways to apply his knowledge and ingenuity to help make other people's lives better. Also, I totally understood how difficult it would be for him to

This is the second installment in The Remnant Series from Vannetta Chapman and I would recommend reading the first book, Deep Shadows, also.
The cover gives the reader a glimpse of the chilling story it contains.
This gripping dystopian series is set in Texas just after a massive solar flare has hit. This is a fast paced story about Shelby's journey to the capitol in search of the much needed medication for her son.
This is a story that stayed with me even after closing the last page.

I absolutely loved Deep Shadows, book one, and have been super excited to read Raging Storm. My mom read this before me and devoured it, but warned me that I might want to wait until it was closer to the release date for book three, Light of Dawn, because of the gigantic cliffhanger. Since it's close to the release of Light of Dawn, I thought I should get to reading this one... and now I completely understand my mom's warning!... I NEED BOOK THREE NOW!

This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year....I knew it would be GOOD, but it was BETTER than I thought!!! I was truly nervous what more could go wrong in Raging Storm after experiencing Deep Shadows, but even there is LOTS of intensity to this story, these characters TRULY amazed me in their resilience, faith, and loyalty. Maybe that's the key to any apocalyptic story, good writing included, but also characters that make it worthwhile NO MATTER how desperate the situation gets.

I long awaited book two in Vannetta Chapman's 'The Remnant Series' and I wasn't disappointed. Vannetta writes so descriptively that it's easy for the reader to 'ride' along with the characters and feel like they are part of the story. She often had me on the edge of my seat as the characters went through narrowing situations. I eagerly await the next book in the series.

Raging Storm is the second book in the dystopian, The Remnant Series , by bestselling author, Vannetta Chapman.  Raging Storm picks up where the first novel ends, so it's very important that you have read Deep Shadows to fully appreciate this story.  While Deep Shadows could be read as a stand-alone, you will not want to miss out on the prequel-novella, Overshadowed.

Once again, what impressed me so much about this book is the complexity of the characters.   Shelby, Max, Patrick, Bianc

The second book in the Remnant Series, Raging Storm is a followup of Deep Shadows, the first in the series. Raging Storm can be a stand alone novel, but by all means, don't miss Deep Shadows for the backdrop of this dystopian thriller. It reveals the background and continuation for the fast paced action in Raging Storm.

The characters are complex and diverse, and the relationship between Max and Shelby is somewhat complicated. Max is an admirable hero figure, as Shelby is at times frustrating. Th

In Raging Storm, we continue to invest ourselves with the characters, Shelby, Max, Carter and friends. We see two stories enfolding, and as the author take us to look at the wider picture: when chaos breaks out, when the government institution is holding on by a thread, and when there is the type of evil out there that is very real, that's when we find the reality of it all set in. It can happen, and how can you live with that kind of fear? How can you survive with fear knocking on your door eve ...more
Raging Storm by Vannetta Chapman is book 2 in the Remnant Series. Overshadowed and Deep Shadows need to be read first to understand what's going on. I was afraid I wouldn't remember what was going on in the previous books when I started reading Raging Storm but it was written in a way that recaps without being boring or out of place with the story.

The possibility of a solar flare or other issues that would knock the electrical grid out is frightening to think about. This series should make us r

I absolutely loved this book! It was fascinating to go along with the characters as they ventured out of their somewhat safe town into a complete unknown. There was tons of action and suspense as you never knew what was going to happen next and as they came into contact with increasingly desperate people. There was a little bit of romance and some talk of faith and prayer as they tried to have hope and faith that God would see them through their difficult circumstances. First, let me state that I am a huge fan of Vannetta Chapman's writing. I feel that she spends a great deal of time in research and stretches the imagination. I have always enjoyed dystopian novels, but this one fell short for me. It pains me to say this because I don't like to be critical. I think that, for this particular series, it is extremely important to read the first book in the series. I did not read that first book and I was confused and found it very difficult to get interested in the ...more

This is the 2nd book of the Remnant series and I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book of the series. I was not a big fan of Shelby. She was on a mission to get insulin for her son Carter after a solar flare shuts down all electric power in the world. She is off to Austin, Texas with Max, Patrick and Bianca. It is understandable that she is focused on getting insulin for her son but she is rude, hurtful and singularly focused to the extent
