Jenna is a daughter of destiny, the last in a family line that had a magical tool, a board that was infused with power and when it was realized this power could not fall into the wrong hands the board was deconstructed in pieces and hidden. Now the board is calling itself to be put together, and Jenna is answering that call. In the previous book, Jenna had acquired a board of wind and now she is searching for its brother, the board of water. Her quest takes her on a journey through the desert and with a little help from her friends she tracks down the location of the last board.
I did not read the first book before starting this, the author did do a good job filling in the past story in bits and pieces so if you did read the first you weren't obnoxiously bogged down with the first books actions and if you didn't you weren't completely lost in the story. I think the book had a good pace and action scenes. The way that the information just comes and everyone agrees, that got a little like "really well that was an easy way out" which did move the story along and I could understand why the author did it. Overall this was a good story, great for a weekend read, when you don't want to overthink but be entertained.
