A prince must stop at nothing to protect his family...

Dark times are brewing in Asheville, North Carolina. Known to locals as the Land of Sky, Asheville goes by another name in Prince Caden's homeland of Razzon: the Land of Shadow, a place where the most vile villains are sent to live out their days as ordinary middle school teachers. But the villains are no longer content to stay trapped in Asheville.

Caden will do anything to protect his homeland. But to keep the villains from completing a mysterious four-part spell and breaking the barrier between realms, he must defeat the wicked lunch witch and the evil math tyrant-all while dealing with a foster mother who doesn't believe in magic and a pesky compliance curse that puts him in mortal peril for three days every month.

Protecting the barrier between the realms is no small task. Caden will need the help of his brave friends-and his special gift of speech to charm a ravenous Elderdragon. And if Caden and his allies can save his home, he might finally be able to return to it.

I enjoyed this book until it reached the ending, which did not wrap up well. It's just not a satisfying way to end this fantastic trilogy. Terribly disappointed. :(

A great YA series

This was a fantastic continuation of the first two books. It wraps everything up pretty well but I feel like the final scene ended too abruptly. I would really love to have read more and found out how things progress from there. Hopefully there will be more books in this series. The characters are interesting and there’s so much more to explore of both of the worlds that exist in the narrative.

Laurie Mckay writes another another spellbinding story with Realm Breaker. CAden once again takes on the villainsand elderdragon of Asheville. The various twists and turns that she puts in has the reader guessing what will happen next leading to a very intriguing conclusion. Another great instalment to the Last Dragon Charmer Series.

A good fantasy for middle schoolers. Good characters and place. I have been to Asheville but think it could have been any other town. I too wonder about the ending and, as always wonder what will happen to some of the characters.

Of course I love this book and everyone else who reads it will too. Caden, Bryne, Tito and Jane seem like such real kids to me I couldn't wait to find out what happened. Things looked very ominous at the end of Quest Maker. Laurie gets right into the conclusion with fast paced edge of your seat action while letting us follow what's in the heads of Caden and his crew. They are such great problem solvers. I am a huge advocate of good endings with no lingering questions or plot holes. Realm breaker delivers. This is a great series for middle grade boys and girls as well as young at heart adults.

What a thrill of a conclusion to this exciting series! Caden, Brynne, Tito and Jane have to stop their evil principal (former math teacher) from completing the four-step spell that will connect the realms and destroy Asheville. Their bravery comes at a cost, as each of them makes a sacrifice to stop him. Along the way, Caden learns more about his family, and how he ended up banished to the world of villains (North Carolina) in the first place. Read the series! It's delightful, with great humor throughout (Caden is cursed with obedience for a few days each month, something he calls his "time of the month"- haha!)

An amazing series. Full of fun dialogue, quick action, likable characters (or not so likable). Truly a page turner. McKay has much promise. She knows her audience and delivers.
