I thought that this was so fun! In monster land being rude is the monster version of being polite. This book follows our hapless, well-mannered heroine as her parents and friends try to teach her how to have “monster manners”. She seems incapable of learning. Then, a disaster strikes and her house floods. Her parents and her friend try calling the plumber for help but he hangs up on them after they growl at him. Her polite “Hello we need some help” saves the day. And her parents come to realize that even their slightly odd daughter has a valuable role.

This book is exactly what you need it to be. Cute story about a monster whose parents are disappointed because she has good manners instead of behaving like a monster. It's a great length for kids transitioning into reading chapter books. The writing is engaging and the illustrations are charming. Highly recommended.

Such a fun book, great for kids!

What I particularly loved was the ability to paint the "monster manners" without having bathroom humor.

This is the first book that I actually picked on my own. My mom was disappointed of my choice of book, but I had to have it. I was probably in the first grade.
This is really emotional for me because I think this book made me the avid reader I am today. Ugh. Good times, good times.
Phenomenal book, by the way. I still remember all the details and illustrations.

This would be a good book for younger children. Fun story about a little monster that always minds her manners instead of listening to her parents and misbehaving.

This is the first book i re read. It is from the author Joanna Cole and I was not disappointed of my choice of book, not at all . I cant belive I had not read this book till this day. I should of read this book when I in the first grade.

the style used in this book was kid of a movie i saw it. It was so cool and funny to see every thing she did. It was aslo amazing how in the back of the book it said it was meant to help a children read. It was for a parent to read to his children, for the children to read o his parent or for the child to read for it self. This would be a good book for younger children. Fun story about a little monster that always minds her manners instead of listening to her parents and misbehaving.
