Where No Man Rules
Carpetbagger Justin Hornsworth had grown to wealth exploiting the spoils of the post-civil war South. He had also grown over-confident and arrogant in his criminal successes. Following the scent of gold and silver, he made his way west fully self-assured of his attaining further wealth. Getting off the stage in Fort Collins, Hornsworth learns of the Pelletier family who owns the most valuable piece of property on the Cache la Poudre River. Setting his sights on stealing the property, he calls in his Atlanta partner and a gang of cutthroats to help him run the Pelletiers off. A disastrous move on his part, Hornsworth vows revenge against the Pelletiers and kidnaps women of the family with intentions to sell them to a white slaver on a Mississippi riverboat bound for New Orleans. Across the plains of Colorado and Kansas, the Pelletier men pursue them. If they fail the women will be lost forever. As Jean put it, ‘This dirty business can have only one end, our women home safe and unharmed, and my bullet in Justin Hornsworth’s black heart’.

About the author
Dave P. Fisher
122 books42 followers I have been a writer of adventure novels of the Old West. I have now branched out to writing contemporary crime novels with a suspense/mystery base. What I feel makes these unique is that they are set in the modern West and Alaska, as opposed to exotic world and big city settings. They involve average people and local law enforcement agencies.
My writing influence comes from my ancestral roots. Mountain men, voyageurs, pioneers, and explorers make up the branches of my family tree. My paternal grandfather was Blackfoot Indian from Montana. My maternal grandfather was a Minnesota lumberjack, both men were born in the 1800’s.
As a lifelong outdoorsman I have inherited that pioneer blood and followed in the footsteps of both my families. I have experienced life in the Alaska bush, as well as the wilderness of the Rocky and Cascade Mountains, as a working cowboy, guide, horsepacker, hunter, and trapper.
I also spent several years as a Colorado Deputy Sheriff. This experience in the law enforcement field allows me an intimate insight to the system that I weave into my new crime genre stories.
I incorporate all of my experiences into my stories to ingrain them with authenticity and draw the reader into the story by their realism and a personal knowledge of the people and lifestyle involved.
I have near to 500 fiction and non-fiction works published. Included are: 19 novels and short story collections, 70 short stories, and inclusion in 18 anthologies. I am the first 3 time winner of the Will Rogers Medallion Award, in 2008 for Best Western Fiction, and again in 2013 for Best Western Humor, and 2014 for Best Western Novel. Nine of my short stories have earned Reader’s Choice Awards.

Awesome is too lowly a word to describe this book. The description of the Rocky Mountains just made my heart swell with memories of crossing them so many years ago! I've lived in Colorado where the water was so sweet in the mountains back in the early 50's, you could put your face in it and drink to your heart's content. I've lived with the Wasatch mountains at my back door before smog existed, just like Mr. Fisher described them! His gift of taking you back to life as it was is almost spiritual! I hope that many readers see this review and read one of his books!

Great beginning
A Great beginning to a mountain man series.
If the other 9 books that I have are as good as the first , I am going to have some great reading.

A really good story!
I liked this one a lot! What's the odds of finding a red headed woman in the wilderness? Great writing once again!
