Margit Sandemo was a Norwegian-Swedish historical fantasy author. She has been the best-selling author in the Nordic Countries since the 1980s, when her novel series of 47 books, The Legend of the Ice People, was published. She has also written many other book series such as Häxmästaren and Legenden om Ljusets rike.

Życie w czasach przed internetem było trudne: z braku pornografii źli ludzie najwyraźniej porywali obcych i zamykali w słabo oświetlonych pomieszczeniach w nadziei na kontent. Serio, najbardziej pokręcona forma zemsty w historii, i mało skuteczna.

Blodhævn pck up quite shortly after Vinterstorm and deals with the aftermath of an otherwise pretty overlooked event in the previous book.

Since I don't really want to spoil this book, I'll tell you that I am so happy that the aftermath of said event does get told. Not only is it a really compelling story, once that always seems to keep me on my toes no matter how many times I've read it, but it is also quite the emotional story. And maybe finally, there is a sense that the Ice People will be fighting the curse. Or try to find a way to lift it. In either case, there is a sense that they will want to be doing something actively about it soon-ish.

I like this book because I'm a huge fan of Villemo and Dominic as a couple. Even though they don't become a couple in this book, they do love each other - if you've read this book, you'll know what I'm talking about when I mention the scenes in that stables. Unbelivably difficult to read without getting just a liiiiittle caught up in it. Like always, Sandemo does a really good job with the sexier scenes.

Anyways, if you've read my review of Vinterstorm, you'll know that one of my main critique points of that book is Villemo's character. She's better in this book. A lot better actually and it makes it a little easier not to want to scream at her for being so stupid. In fact, as they discover in this book, she's quite strong.

I like that Sandemo doesn't need pages after pages to convey what people are thinking. Little things, such as Lars and Marit inviting their "master" and his family to eat with them, it's not a long passage and she doesn't spend much time dwelling on it, but it so clearly shows human emotions and especially that of the "lower" people. It's just sort of beautifully done, and I always feel a little twinge in my heart as I read it.

Poor, poor Villemo really goes through hell in this book. And this time, she does stubbornly hang on to what she thinks is the only right thing. She's discovered her own strength yes, but she's also a lot humbler and knows what's the right thing to do - and she's willing to do it, even if it isn't what she realyl wants to, because she loves her famliy. As I said, I like her a lot more in this book.

What can I say, I'm enjoying this reread, slowly making my way through the 22 books of this series that I own at this point and reviewing them. commiting my thoughts to paper, or the screen as it were. I'm not sure when I'll be picking up the next book though. I really, really need to get some work done on my BA this next week. Maybe I'll read Længsel ('Longing') as a sort of in between procastination-tool?

Ciężko jest powiedzieć co się dzieje w tym tomie, ponieważ jest dosyć silnie związany z poprzednim. Tym razem sobie odpuszczę pisanie skrótu, żeby nie robić spoileru. Ta część ponownie skupia się na postaci Villemo i jej dalszych losach.

Wątek miłosny to katastrofa i totalny cringe. Villemo nagle odkochuje się "bo tak" i przenosi swoje emocje na nowy obiekt westchnień, którego widziała x czasu temu i przypomina sobie o nim, kiedy zachciało jej się napisać list. Potem to co się działo na polanie.. no uczucie żenady wybiło ponad skalę. Z drugiej strony akcja jest bardzo ciekawa. Motywem przewodnim jest tytułowa zemsta za krzywdy doznane w poprzednim tomie i to ona nakręca całą spiralę. Gdyby nie było tego żenującego wątku to byłby to jeden z lepszych tomów jaki do tej pory przeczytałam.

Ode mnie 2,5 gwiazdki. Chciałam dać solidne 3, ale życie uczuciowe Villemo rozbraja mnie na łopatki i nie ma żadnego logicznego sensu.

I've been thinking of why I haven't been enjoying the books about Villemo. It might be due to me not reading the books in order, I read volume 13 as my first Ice People book and thus I roughly know what's going to happen. It might also be that I personally have trouble reading about Villemo's exploits even though I like her as a character there is a lot of puberty and teenager going on in V. 10&11. It might be that I just can't judge the book due to this but while the events in the book was interesting I can't bring myself to enjoy either book.

3.5 or 4 stars. I'm a bit inbetween 'em.

So this was a very enjoyable book. The first half of the book had some of the best prose of any ice people book I've read. The second half wasn't as good, but the ending was good.
Both Niklas and Dominic grew a bit for me. Villemo returned as the main character and but I prefered her in the previous book.

The antagonist of this book was pretty good and a lot of fun to read about, but I would have liked a little bit more.

So all in all. Nice to see the continuation of the legend of the Ice People but this wasn't the best or most memorable of the books. It was a bit like a mix of books 3, 6 and 10 and one of them is among my favorites so yeah.
It'll be interesting to read and see what I'll think of book 12!

zawsze miło wrócić do rodziny z Lipowej Alei i ich perypetii, ale już rozumiem, czemu mówi się, że tomy 9~14 są jednymi ze słabszych, niestety wpadam przy nich w zastój ://

mimo braku nastrojowości dawnej skandynawii z początkowych tomów, historia na szczęście stała się ciekawsza i Sandemo aż z przesadą zaznacza, że wszystko zmierza do pierwszego większego skoku fabularnego — spotkania z szatanem, mam nadzieję, że nie zawiedzie, skoro to 1/3 całej sagi 😤

poza tym czekam na powrót większej ilości magicznych wstawek, gdzie ta magia się podziała po wątku Sol 😭

no nic, raz na jakiś czas trzeba wciągnąć tomik sagi dla relaksu 🫡😌

Część mocno powiązana z poprzednią, która czytałam dość dawno temu więc cieszę się że coś pamiętałam. Główna bohaterką jest Villemo. No cóż, ogólnie jest to dość chwiejna postać zakochująca i odkochująca się w momencie. Jedna scena nad źródełkiem była dość żenująca. Dużą rolę dostał też Dominik. Ogólnej spoko tom, bez rewelacji, ale audiobooka słuchało się fajnie.

W tej części nadal mamy przedstawione losy Villemo i jest to kontynuacja części 10. Moim zdaniem bardzo rozbudowany wątek romantyczny i seksualny głównej bohaterki. Czyta się to przyjemnie, chociaż czasami miałam „przewrót oczami”. Do tego ta cała tajemnicza zagadka, z którą troje młodych będą musieli się zmierzyć. Aż nie mogę się doczekać co to będzie.

The captive

The eleventh book about the People of Ice and the second part of the trilogy by Willem, the bright great-great-granddaughter of Tengel the Good, who was lucky enough to become the heroine of three consecutive stories in the Saga, respectively, books ten to twelve are better not to read autonomously. I read all three in one day, so I'm also telling you about them in one day, as briefly as possible.

And these three novels are exactly what is swallowed, without the desire to tear off to stare at the phone or indulge in another kind of procrastination (I have now is watching cooking videos of one blogger). And the middle, "Blood Feud" - the coolest, eventful, action-packed, emotionally engaging of all the books of the Saga. Starting with Willem's return home, accompanied by her savior cousins and a group of madmen, after the failure of the People's Liberation Movement and the death of the sultry macho Eldar, whom she loved with her first love, and only a series of cruel circumstances prevented him from plucking the flower of her innocence, the book continues to tell the story of what happened to her next.

For a while, a rather long time, the girl recovers physically and mentally. Then nature and a young body take their course, in confidants and confessors of the soul of secrets she chooses Dominic, unlike Nicholas. who is close and worries about the parental ban to marry another of their common cousin, and therefore it is not worth turning to him for support, Dominic is far away, and relatively safe (as, deceiving herself, the girl thinks, in fact she has long been unevenly breathing to him and only the hormonal surge of maturation attracted to the rough Eldar). Here is a remarkably beautiful sensual scene of self-satisfaction, which is not typical of Margit Sandemu, a more reserved and 12+ writer.

The charges of murdering the rapist have been officially dropped from Willem, but the rapist's father, a local landowner, is not one to operate legally, and he is also friends with the judge who has been involved in his corrupt schemes. After declaring a vendetta against the unsuspecting girl, he begins to hunt her down. Twice, luck and good reflexes, or maybe the protection of her ancestors, help her to avoid death, but on the third occasion Willem is kidnapped literally in front of her parents, and a crime thriller about a captive in a basement intrudes into the historical-mystical novel, which was already quite closely connected with action genres.

It is very cool, extremely pitiful and absolutely without guarantees of a happy ending. Sandemu is like George R. R. Martin, killing off key characters left and right, but in a couple of cases, her favorite characters died, and that doesn't give her a chance to relax. It's a great book, so grab it if you haven't already.

Одиннадцатая книга о Людях Льда и вторая часть трикнижя Виллему, яркой праправнучки Тенгеля Доброго, которой повезло стать героиней последовательно трех историй Саги, соответственно, книги с десятой по двенадцатую лучше не читать автономно. Я прочла все три за день, потому рассказываю о них тоже в один день, предельно коротко.

И эти три романа - именно то, что проглатывается, без желания оторваться, чтобы потупить в телефон или предаться иному виду прокрастинации (у меня сейчас это просмотр кулинарных роликов одного блогера). А середина, "Кровная месть" - самая классная, насыщенная событиями, остросюжетная, эмоционально вовлекающая из всех книг Саги. Начавшись с возвращения Виллему домой в обществе кузенов-спасителей и кучки умалишенных, после неудачи с народно-освободительным движением и гибели знойного мачо Эльдара, которого любила первой любовью, и лишь стечение жестоких обстоятельств не позволило ему сорвать цветок невинности героини, книга продолжает рассказ о том, что с ней было дальше.

Какое-то время, довольно долгое, девушка восстанавливается физически и морально. Затем природа и молодой организм берут свое, в наперсники и поверенные душевных тайн она выбирает Доминика, в отличие от Николаса. который близко и переживает из-за родительского запрета жениться на другой их общей кузине, а значит, не стоит обращаться к нему за поддержкой, Доминик далеко, и относительно безопасен (как, лукавя с собой, думает девица,на деле она давно неровно дышит к нему и лишь гормональный всплеск созревания притянул к грубоватому Эльдару). Здесь замечательной красоты чувственная сцена самоудовлетворения, в целом не характерная для Маргит Сандему, писательницы скорее сдержанной и 12+.

Обвинения в убийстве насильника с Виллему официально сняты, однако отец мерзавца, местный помещик, не из тех, кто действует законными методами, к тому же дружен с судьей, которого вовлек в свои коррупционные схемы. Объявив ничего не подозревающей девушке вендетту, он начинает охоту на нее. Дважды удачливость и хорошая реакция, а может покровительство предков, помогают ей избегнуть смерти, но на третий Виллему похищают буквально на глазах у родителей, а в историко-мистический роман, и прежде достаточно тесно связанный с остросюжетными жанрами, вторгается криминальный триллер про пленницу в подвале.

Это очень круто, предельно жалостно и абсолютно без гарантий хэппи-энда. Сандему на Джордж Мартин, косящий ключевых героев направо-налево, но в парочке случаев любимые персонажи погибали у нее и это не дает оснований расслабиться. Классная книга, берите, если еще не.

Lesson learned

Villemo is again in trouble and now it looks like the end but Dominic is not giving up on her. If you’ve read the previous books you know the background story.
It is filled with suspense and realistic characters.

Loved it but I really want to know what this generation is destined to do.....

Again a great read, not long but enjoyable.

5 stars for book 11 in this series and it should be read in order.

Dałam Villemo szansę ale dalej mnie denerwuje, czyżby do trzech razy sztuka? Może troszkę się "ogarnie" walcząc z Panem Ciemności ;)

W tej części zajmiemy się głównie Villemo i jej życiem uczuciowym. Rozpacz po śmierci Eldara trochę już osłabła, w końcu pani Sandemo zbytnio się nad takimi sprawami nie rozczula, umarł król niech żyje król. Znajdzie się nowy adorator, martwy poprzednik na nic się już nie zda.

Poza sprawami głównie sercowymi oczywiście nie zabraknie magii i osławionego przekleństwa Ludzi Lodu. Villemo nie do końca była przekonana czy ma w sobie coś z tego strasznego dziedzictwa, ale w chwilach dramatycznych pewne cechy wyjdą na światło dzienne, ewentualnie w mroki nocne.

Trochę mnie irytuje chów wsobny, może nie jakoś bardzo przesadzony, ale moim zdaniem niepotrzebnie autorka tak bardzo uzewnętrznia problem. Zakazy małżeństw z powodu zbyt bliskiego pokrewieństwa i ryzyka spłodzenia strasznego potomka obdarzonego okropnym piętnem Ludzi Lodu, nuda. Świeżej kwi mi brakuje! :)

Dalszy ciąg historii o Villemo, który porwał mnie nie mniej niż tom poprzedni, mimo że do samej bohaterki nie pałam sympatią. Bohaterowie często wspominają, że Villemo ma dużo z Sol, moim zdaniem jednak to nieprawda, a przynajmniej nie na tym etapie. Lubię za to Dominika, który jest chyba moją ulubioną postacią z tego pokolenia Ludzi Lodu.

Z tego co widzę to o Villemo a także Niklasie i Dominiku powstanie swoista podseria. Mam tylko nadzieję, że w przeciągu niej Villemo trochę się poprawi i dorośnie, bo jak na razie ta bohaterka mnie wyłącznie irytuje, chociaż nadal jestem ciekawa jak potoczą się jej losy.

[Audiobook]

Might have been interesting on a micro level, but all the big pieces seemed to be forgotten. Like the rebellion. Most of the story was simply about their longing for each other, the forbidden romance, and little else. I find Villemo to be the least interesting female character in the series so far.
