This is the kind of cookbook that is difficult to review. While the recipes seem true to the topic and easy to follow, it is not a "fun read."

Good things:
1. The recipes are realistic for most home cooks. The ingredients list is not too expensive or exotic for many of the recipes.
2. The instructions are basic.
3. These recipes seem like the types of German recipes that immigrants to America would bring with them. They are similar to some of my family recipes.

Not as Good Things:

1. It isn't the most interesting book to read.
2. There are 10 recipes for potato salad.
3. I wish there was more information on German cooking as a whole.
