From medical secretary to court reporter to property manager to owner of a special events decorating company, my resume reads as if I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. But one thing that has remained constant through the years is my love for writing. I currently pen fun and fast-paced inspirational romance and romantic suspense stories. My books have won several awards and been nominated for two RITA® awards and an RT Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Award.

After spending most of my life in Florida, a few years ago, I moved to the mountains of North Carolina, where I write my stories outside on the back deck in the summertime and inside in front of the fireplace in the wintertime. When I’m not writing or doing writerly things, I enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking—almost anything outdoors. My two grown daughters and grandkids live too far away for my liking, so I now pour all that nurturing into taking care of two sassy black cats.

Buried Memories was a great read for me during this reading slump I've been in. I was able to read it slowly and yet not lose interest in the story. I really liked Carol J. Post's writing style and the characters were very nice.

I enjoyed the mystery and did find some moments suspenseful. I also did not guess who the villain/s was and was somewhat surprised by the reveal.

All in all, a good read and I definitely recommend it. Buried Memories was a very good Love Inspired Suspense novel!

It was a joy to return to the small town of Cedar Key, Florida for some more thrills and danger. There are some familiar faces from other books as well as some new faces to meet. For some reason I haven't managed to read these books in order, and I find that each one stands well on its own.

I have to say, I particularly liked that both hero and heroine struggle from nightmares. Not the usual thing you find characters connecting over, but it was well written and felt relevant to these two. I also really enjoyed the dogs that are part of the story! The whole "not saying goodbye" mention was also a good touch.

I did guess the identity of the perp before the big ordeal. Whew. Lotta hate there. But it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story when I guessed right.

Buried Memories kept me guessing all the way through! It was such a great suspense story! I stayed up late reading because I just had to find out how things ended and how everything was connected.

The author did a good job of creating a very tense situation for the main character, Nicki. Things were constantly going wrong for her in so many ways in this novel. However, at the same time, she had found an old friend who was proving to be quite the protector. But he had his own problems that were haunting him.

I really liked Nicki and Tyler. They were both characters who had been through so much. Their backstories were very interesting, yet painful to learn about. It made me want everything to work out for them even more, knowing what they both had dealt with in their lives.

Buried Memories had everything I was looking for in a romantic suspense. There was plenty of danger, hidden secrets from the past, and complex characters who had great romantic chemistry between them.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Buried Memories is the first Love Inspired suspense novel I’ve read by Carol J. Post but it will not be my last.

The suspense starts from the very first scene and it keeps a steady pace all the way through. Not a lot of time to relax – for the main characters or for the readers!! Someone has it out for Nicki and the attacks continue to escalate as the novel progresses. And the fact that they aren’t limited just to her keeps the tensions high!

The romance between Tyler and Nicki adds a different kind of tension to the mix, the pleasing #smoochysmooch kind of tension. Their past adolescent friendship gives even more dimension to their current chemistry, but it’s the bond they share over the nightmares they lived through that really drew me to them – both as individual characters and as a couple.

Bottom Line: Make sure you have enough time carved out to read Buried Memories before you start. Because once you do start reading, you won’t want to put it down until you’ve finished the whole thing. Romance, suspense, faith, and friendship all combine together with complex characters and a complex mystery to make this a can’t-miss read! Fans of Susan Sleeman, make sure you check out Carol Post too!

This book was impossible to put down! I had no clue what was going to happen next and couldn't wait to find out. Buried Memories follows Nicki and Tyler who used to be best friends but somehow lost touch. Seeing each other again shows them both that once you form deep ties, time apart doesn't cause them to loosen. Thankful to spend time together Nicki asks Tyler to fix a few things around her house. And when she starts receiving threats Tyler doesn't want to let her out of his sight.

Nicki hasn't had an easy life. Her mother was murdered when she was a young child, and the case has just been re-opened. If that isn't stressful enough, she recently broke up with her fiancé, and he wasn't happy about it. When weird stuff begins happening Nicki has a couple ideas about who could be behind it. The only problem is, even the most normal people can turn out to be a little crazy. Can the police figure out who's behind everything? Or will time run out before the truth is revealed?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Romantic Suspense. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between the two main characters and felt it wasn't rushed at all. I had fun getting to know them and a little about what makes them who they are. I always love a book with a manly hero, and you can't get more manly than a soldier. It was interesting hearing about survivors guilt, and how we suppress some things. I can't wait to see what Post writes next! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Buried Memories was a very enjoyable read for me at just the right time. My attention was immediately caught and engaged within the first couple of pages. The mystery begins almost immediately rather than dragging on before something exciting happens and the amount of suspense and intrigue was just right for the mood I was in as I read. While I was able to foresee some things that happened, there were other situations that I just wasn’t sure how they were going to be handled or explained until the moment she revealed them.

Nicki and Tyler were lovable and engaging characters. They’ve both been through a lot of situations that have played a part in the people they are at the beginning of the book. Neither of them is really looking for someone else to share life with, but the bond they shared in life years ago is there as they meet again. I appreciated that they were flawed people who had struggles that could be true to life rather than perfect people with no real problems. While the connection is there for them, there are still some fears they each must overcome to make things work between them. It was a pleasure to see two such people overcome their pasts, their struggles, and their fears to find joy and hope together in a shared life; for them to realize that God had brought them back to each other to live life together, to help shoulder each other’s burdens and find joy and strength in each other.

Nicki moved to Cedar Key in hopes of escaping the past. An ex-fiance who might end up in jail, her mother murdered when she was a child, and nightmares from that murder all push her to start over. But when someone begins attacking Nicki, an old friend comes to her rescue. Tyler is recovering from injuries he received while in the military. He's staying with his brother and at loose ends. He doesn't really know where he wants to go in life. But helping Nicki find her attacker is a good start.

The suspense in this story started with the very first page and didn't let up. I like some mystery as to who the "bad" person is and this author delivered. It was presented in a way that surprised me, but was totally believable. The romance between the two main characters was sweet. The author wove elements of faith throughout the story and provided a great testimony without coming across as preachy. And adding animals to any story is always a plus. I loved the dogs and how they fit into the plot. The book left me wanting more and I can't wait to read another story by this author. Definitely give this one a try if you enjoy suspense with a touch of romance and faith.

I love Carol's Harmony Grove series. Great characters that have become a family and are very likable. This culprit was fairly easy to spot early on (at least for me-I read & watch a TON of mysteries) but it was still a great story with a few surprises along the way.

There was a fantastic quote in the book that really resonated with me:" ....whatever happens, God walks with us through it. We don't have to face anything alone. He gives us strength and comfort, and when we come out on the other side, we're better people. But that part's up to each of us. We can let the bad stuff make us better or we can let it make us bitter."

I love Carol J. Post's books. They are well written, well researched and always suspenseful. Nicki Jackson is having nightmares that she suspects are really memories that she has buried for years. Tyler Brant is there to keep Nicki safe from whoever is trying to destroy her. With suspense, romance and several twists this is a book that will keep you turning pages until the end. Highly recommend.

Nicki Jackson is now single, after she found her her fiance was seeing another woman behind her back. She lives alone in a beautiful bungalow with her golden retriever Callie. Her neighbors Andy and Joan are playing host to Andy's little half-brother and childhood friend of Nicki's, Tyler Brant. Nicki and Tyler's friendship was cut short when Nicki's stay with foster family is terminated, again, (her druggie mother was murdered by one of the many men she brought through the house) and she is moved to another home. She ended up in numerous foster homes until she lands in the home of an older couple who love her and show her what family means. Her older sister moves through the system until she ages out. They lose contact with each other, almost immediately.

Tyler Brant's mother battled with cancer (if I remember correctly). He stayed at home to care for her till she passed and then joined the army. After 3 tours in Afghanistan, his luck runs out and his unit was attacked. He was the only one to make it out alive, but not unscathed. After a year of surgeries and rehab, the army discharges him for medical reasons and he is left alone to try and cope with his PTSD and his nightmares. His solution is to keep moving. So when his older half-brother asks him to help renovate a hotel he just bought, he jumps at the chance. 2 months of solid work and family before he moves on.
But then he realizes who their neighbor is after meeting her shortly after she discovers her house was broken into. He's always had a crush on the strappy 15 year old he knew back then, and now he has a crush on the successful adult version of her. So when things keep happening to Nicki and threats are being made to her and anyone who refuses to abandon her, Tyler steps up to become her informal bodyguard.
All in all, this book was pretty good. Though the obvious proposal is still pretty quick to come, especially after the fact she's only 4 months free of a cheating ex, I'm not totally mad at it. Maybe it's because they were friends in the past plus the additional months.

Saying that I like Carol J Post's writing is such a pitiful way to explain my enjoyment! I have read Carol's books before, and she's a long-time Love-Inspired Suspense writer (through Harlequin).

Buried Memories is a Christian romantic suspense that really kept me on my toes. The back and forth dramatic was riveting, and the characters written so well that I felt like I was there along for the ride.

Tyler Brant and Nicki Jackson had known each other when they were younger. Tyler had had a crush on her and kept it to himself. They went their separate ways as adults. When Nicki moved to Cedar Key after her broken engagement, she was surprised to find that the man living next door was Tyler's brother and that Tyler was in town temporarily working with him!

When Nicki began getting threats, Tyler, a former soldier, made a pact that he would do everything in his power to keep her safe. His feelings for Nicki never went away, and he found it harder and harder to keep his emotions from taking over.

This story will quickly draw you into the characters' situations. I highly recommend Carol Post's novels if you enjoy clean suspense with a smattering of romance thrown in.

I would recommend this novel, to reader who pick traditionally published romances over indie published. Author Carol J. Post writes and exceptional plot driven store where the important key plot moments develop the characters. Cedar Key the small town is well described. This makes the novel a small town, ex military, romantic suspense tale. FMC Nikki has a past she doesn’t remember with some dark secrets, this is where character driven moments could has enhanced the plot. The MMC Tyler is ex military with PTSD again missed moments of character driven development. But the twists as Nikki’s past comes to light and as Tyler finds his way forward with her make this worth the read. Carol J.Post niche truly falls into the realm of romantic suspense tales.

My Thoughts On The Book: I could not put Buried Memories down from beginning to end. It was such a great suspense story! I had to find out what was going on. The author created some awesome characters and I felt as if I was right there in the thick of things.

I enjoy reading romantic suspense stories. I really enjoyed Buried Memories because it doesn't contain profanity or numerous heated bedroom scenes. This book grabbed my interest right away. I enjoyed getting to know Nicki Jackson and Tyler Brant. They each had a rough childhood but found that together they could deal with demons from their pasts. This book had danger, suspense, and romance. It is well written and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Love Inspired Suspense books.

Excellent plot. I was on the edge of my seat reading this one. Nikki returns to Cedar Key after being away for a few days, only to find out that someone has broken into her home. At the same time, she discovers that her old friend from her teens has just moved in next door with his brother. The timing couldn't have been better, because stranger and stranger things keep happening to Nikki.

I loved Tyler's reunion with Nicki - and how they overcame their doubts about each other. The twists that came about were both logical and well foreshadowed, especially with Nicki's nightmares about her mother's murder. A bit predictable, but overall satisfying.

This was an excellent read.

While I cringe at the idea of repressed memories for the most part since they've been mostly disproven as traumatic incidents are often replayed again and again in minds burning memories in rather than suppressing them, I thought that the author did a great job with the trope.

I did guess the antagonist early on, but I am a romantic suspense writer, so there's that.

Pick this one up. It's definitely worth a read.

STORY-LINE BURIED MEMORIES:

Buried Memories by author Carol J. Post, grabs the reader and hangs. With a story filled with tension, grief, suspense, and mystery, Post created a book worthy of the title mystery romance novel along with a clean and wholesome story-line.

Nicki Jackson moved to Cedar Key after the broke up with her fiance. Although, hoping to find peace, Nicki finds old memories, hurts, and abuse are hard to forget. Detectives have reopened her mother's cold case murder, and Nicki finds herself having nightmares and dreams. Neighbor and friend from her past, Tyler Brant, adds another layer of stress to her already stressed out life. Tyler, a former soldier with PTSD, has his own problems and nightmares.

Nicki has acquired a stalker bent on destroying her life and anyone close to her. Can Tyler protect Nicki? Who is trying to destroy Nicki and why? Can Tyler overcome his own nightmares and trauma to help Nicki find the answers needed.

Grab a comfortable seat, my mystery romance novel review of Buried Memories follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Primarily a suspense mystery, Post crafted a clean intense romance between two deeply hurting traumatized people. Post skillfully developed Tyler and Nicki characters; Tyler, a man scarred by war and Nicki, a woman scarred by life, come together in an intense suspense filled mystery. With a campaign to destroy her life in the most horrendous manner, Nicki's stalker is as evil as they come. Carol Post portrayed Nicki's vulnerability with skillful prose. Leaving the reader and Nicki questioning who could hold such hatred for her.

In addition, the suspense and mystery, kept at high peak throughout the novel, grabbed me immediately. As a result, Post did not reveal the villain until the last moment, which keeps the reader glued to the pages. I was surprised by the identity of the villain and the reasons behind the campaign of hatred. The pace was smooth and steady without starts and stops, and the plots were intriguing as Post scripted her story-line. Although the story contains several plot lines, Post wove all the lines together to form a first class mystery romance novel.

Finally, in concluding my mystery romance novel review of Buried Memories, I found a solid well-written novel which held my attention from the first paragraphs to the last page. Also with believable characters, plenty of action, intriguing story-line, and just the right amount of romance, I found Buried Memories an enjoyable read. Post receives a big high-five for a clean read which did not need sex to sell the story. A good novel, which is well-written with intriguing plots, does not need sex or fluff to increase the page count; kudos Ms. Post, kudos.

BURIED MEMORIES RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4

In addition, I would not hesitate to buy Buried Memories for my self or a friend. Suitable for young adults and adults, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a solid, clean, well-written mystery and suspense romance. I look forward to Ms. Post's next book.

FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE:

Additionally, I received this book from the author and chose to voluntarily review the book with an honest mystery romance novel review. Lastly, book reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion. Consequently, all book reviews on-line and on my blog, are my opinions. In addition, the ARC did not affect my voluntary mystery romance novel review.

A little slow

I love suspense but this was a little slow, to me it was not one of those stories that had you on the edge of your seat. Someone is terrorizing Nickki, she doesn't know why. Tyler someone she knew when she was in foster care is back in her life, he is in town helping his brother Andy renovate the inn, then he is moving on. Tyler has always cared about Nickki but with his PTSD what can he offer her. This story has arson, hit and run, false allegations, break and entering, attempted murder and so much more. I would rate this a 3.5-4.0.

What an intense , intriguing thrill ride this book is. All the elements are there for an action packed story that grabs you at the beginning and doesn't stop till the very end. The author once again gives her readers an edge of your seat story with vivid descriptions that keep your heart pounding with anticipation. I started the book and found myself hanging on every word, every action and couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

Nicki Jackson has moved to Cedar Key to start fresh after a broken engagement. I loved her strong character and her determination. After the murder of her mom when she was a child she lived in foster care . She endured abuse, and lost contact with her sister and always wondered what had happened to her. What happens when Nicki starts searching for her sister after such a long time apart?

Tyler has come back to Cedar Key to stay with his brother and sister-in-law to recover from injuries sustained in the war. He is very guarded and doesn't like to talk about his past. it was nice to see Nicki and Tyler reconnect after many years. I wonder who had a crush on who when they were younger? Tyler is having nightmares but tries to play them off as nothing. The intensity of his nightmares brought on by PTSD were very well written and I loved how the author made it authentic.

As Nicki and Tyler begin to rekindle their friendship strange things start to happen. Why is Nicki having recurring nightmares about a woman getting killed? The incidents start mounting and danger lurks nearby when threatening letters start showing up. No one is safe around her and Nicki thinks she should leave. Will Tyler be able to keep her safe? The story is powerful with threats, attacks and an explosive ending. I loved the twists in the story and how faith and trust in God brought people together to help Nicki. You don't want to miss this story that has intrigue, a mysterious stalker, danger , surprises and an ending you won't see coming. Be sure you grab a copy and get ready to be captivated by the riveting story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.

Buried Memories is a love inspired suspense by Carol J. Post. It is a suspense that deals with hidden memories. It is full of action and suspense with a few unexpected twists.
Nikki Jackson had moved to Cedar Key to live after her broken engagement. Her luck with men hit rock bottom this time. In addition, her foster parents had been killed in an automobile accident leaving her their house in nearby Crystal River. Nikki had sold that house and purchased this one in Cedar Key. Here she lived with her dog, Callie and her job working for the mayor. She had just returned home from a weekend wedding to find her door open. Instead of entering, she called the police and while waiting walked up the drive with Callie. She was startled by a noise only to find it was her old friend Tyler Brant. He was living with his brother and his wife next door for a while. Tyler had just gotten out of the service and didn’t know what he would do. Now he waited for her for the police. Someone had broken in and vandalized the place. The main thing they seemed to be looking at was her financial papers with all her numbers and identification on them. Nikki braced herself for long house with creditors working to find who stole her identity. However, they had also mutilated and hanged her childhood toy rabbit, Lavender, telling the police this was more than vandalism.
Tyler tells Nikki that he will stick by her side as much as possible and help her out. She no longer had to stand alone. However, as notes appear and other incidents happen, Nikki realizes that her presence was causing problems for her friends and did not want to put them in danger. After a few more incidents, it is clear that this is personal. Someone is out to destroy Nikki and her reputation, then to kill her. Who is doing this? Can Tyler help Nikki in spite of his nightmares? Can Nikki help Tyler?

About the Book:

After her broken engagement, Nicki Jackson hoped her move to Cedar Key would give her a fresh start instead she quickly learns someone's out to destroy her. Are the attacks tied to her mother's recently reopened murder case or to the nightmares Nicki's beginning to suspect are actually hidden memories? With the threats against her escalating, former soldier Tyler Brant vows to keep Nicki safe. He refuses to lose the woman who's swiftly becoming more than a childhood crush. But when danger circles closer, is Nicki's traumatic past better left forgotten or are her memories the key to something far more sinister?

My Review:

Poor Nicki, she can be identified with almost immediately. All of us have skeletons in our closet especially when it comes to family. You never know what the person next you has endured or will and the same can be said for Nicki Jackson. Nicki has had to go through some things that many people her age have never been witness to but yet fate keeps throwing things at her and expecting her to bounce back almost immediately.

Nicki's mother was murdered and the case has recently been reopened and as a result things start happening to Nicki. Why her? Then if that wasn't enough she starts experiencing nightmares which she is starting to believe may be connected in some way to her mother's murder. Thankfully. Tyler an old childhood friend has come to her rescue to help keep her safe.

But soon the two of them may getting closer than they anticipated as their feelings grow this mystery seems to be getting closer to a resolution. The writing was brilliant. The plot line was fresh and exciting and it was a quick read. Would love to read more from this author!

Buried Memories by Carol Post really keeps you on your reader toes. From the moment we meet with Nicki Jackson trouble has already begun for her. Thankfully, her former high school best friend, Tyler Brant is helping out his brother next door and happens to be with Nicki when her very scary ordeal begins. This story was tense and even had me wanting to look over my shoulder for Nicki’s stalker who was very determined to ruin her life in any way that they could. And yes, we are witnesses to all of that hatred.

This is the second book about combat PTSD I have read in a week and I am glad that authors are writing about our military heroes in such honest ways. Tyler, after recovering from a deadly mission, is still trying to escape the nightmares that stalk him. He is overjoyed though to be reconnected with Nicki, his very good friend but also his secret crush. There are a lot of things I liked about this novel; one is how Nicki’s new friends, especially her church friends stood by her side no matter what. I also liked that Nicki and Tyler already had a good foundation for their romance to stand on.

Nicki certainly did not have an ideal childhood and I really felt for her in trying to find a place to fit in and call home. Tyler is just the kind of hero anyone would want on their side when some sinister person is out to dismantle your life piece by piece. The last three quarters of the book was a very thrilling and you just might want to find a place where you will absolutely not be disturbed while reading.
