The Song Rising
But, having turned her back on Jaxon Hall and with vengeful enemies still at large, the task of stabilizing the fractured underworld has never seemed so challenging.

I’m Samantha Shannon, author of the Bone Season series, architect of all of Paige Mahoney’s suffering. I just thought I’d pop in to explain why you may be seeing two different covers for The Song Rising.
As you'll have worked out from the change in style, Bloomsbury recently decided to give the Bone Season series a new look. However, there will also be a special limited Collector's Edition of The Song Rising in hardback (same price, same release date), with a cover in line with th ...more
1.) The Bone Season ★★★
2.) The Mime Order ★★★
First and foremost, this chart will save your life, especially if it has been a hot second since you've read The Bone Season and The Mime Order:
Next, it's confirmed that the wait for the next book is going to kill me. When I received an ARC of this book, I thought this was going to be a trilogy, little did I know it's actually going to be a seven book series and the wait for ...more
I'm a huge fan of The Bone Season series and have been eagerly awaiting the release of book 3, The Song Rising, for the last couple of years. I recently re-read the first two books in the series, and I'm really glad I did because this one picks up right where book 2 leaves off.
I do think the second half of this book is much stronger than the first half. The latter half had me enthralled and eager to see what happens next, and of course none of that would've been as exciting if it hadn't ...more
Man this series just keeps giving! Fast paced, action packed fantasy filled with twists and turns.
Paige and her Mime Order are forced into hiding when Scion start creating portable scanners - able to spot any Clairvoyant immediately, so they can be imprisoned or killed.
As Underqueen, Paige must find a way to defend her voyants from Nashira and her evil associates.

“Jaxon had been right about words. They could grant wings, or they could tear them away.”
This has been one of my most anticipated releases of 2017. I absolutely loved the previous two books and “The Mime Order” left me begging for more from this world. However I did have some issues with the previous books, one of them being that these book are quite complicated and hard to read. And the third installment “The Song Rising” wasn’t an exception to this. Yet another world is added and there are ...more
The progression of Paige’s character from the first book to the third has been a joy to witness. As a reader, I shared in her triumphs and her setbacks. Now, three books later, my happiness whilst reading this was so entwined with the protagonist’s to what could be termed, an unhealthy degree. Her grief became my own and there was a lot of it in this book!
The sheer amount of emotion that this book conveyed displayed Shannon’s skill at creating charact ...more
I just finished The Mime-Order and I need this book now. THE. ENDING. It's made me incredibly impatient. I don't want to wait! *cries*
It's been over a year since I read the second book and I just found out that the third book isn't coming out until March 2017 now. Nooooooooooo D':! That's so long from now. *dies from the suspense of the second books ending*

Be prepared for all of the feels, my friends, because this book will kill you.
I can't even begin to describe how amazing it was, just omg. I need it to be released so I have people to cry to.
Review on my blog:
This review is SPOILER FREE 😊
This book. THIS BOOK. It was worth the two year wait and more, because it was absolutely bloody brilliant. Fantastic, amazing, exquisite. It left me in a mess of feelings and emotions that I'm still trying to process. It was the kind of book that I wanted to reread the second I finished it. Not only to reread it, but the entire series that it is part of (and this is saying something, ...more
"War has often been called a game, with good reason. Both have combatants. Both have sides. Both carry the risk of losing.
There is just one difference.
Every game is a gamble. Certainty is the last thing you want when you begin. If you are guaranteed to win, there is no game at all.
In war, however, we crave certainty. No fool ever went to war without the cast-iron belief that they could win, that they would win; or at least, that the likelihood of losing was so small as to make the bloo ...more

'You don't go to war just for the thrill, but for the gain. The question is whether any gain, any outcome, can justify the way you play.'
Once again Samantha Shannon has left me speechless. The Song Rising is the third installment and the most action-packed book of the series so far. It starts right where The Mime Order left off and it focuses on the politics of the Mime Order, the relationship with the Ranthen and the threat of Scion. Also, the world-building is expanded, getting to know more...more
I can't remember specifics, all i know is that it was amazing, as expected, possibly my favourite in the series so far

Paige is really starting to grow on me as a character. She's grown a lot and so has the author. I'm still not a huge fan of some of the wording, the writing is jarring sometimes and it just jolts me out of the story. Other then that though, a fantastic installation in the series, I feel like we finally got some good world building instead of just establishing Scion in London. I'm really excited to see where Shannon takes us in the next book.
1) The bone season ★★★★☆
2) The mime order ★★★★☆
This series has taken my heart and I don't even want it back.
I've been marathoning The bone season for two weeks

As is standard with reviewing books in the middle of a series, I’ll do my best to avoid spoilers from previous books, but no promises.
The Song Rising picks up right where The Mime Order left off with that horrifyingly unexpected and gut-wrenching twist. We then follow Paige as she attempts to wrangle the syndicate into some sort of order, dealing with threats both internal and external. The unceasing thought I had with this book: Can they please just catch a break?! Shann ...more
In The Song Rising, Paige, now The Mime Order's Underqueen, has a whole new set of problems to deal with: Some members of the syndicate think she's weak or a traitor for turning her back on Jaxon Hall, so she has to prove that she's worthy of her new position; there's the constant threat of Jaxon and the Reshaim coming ...more
i was expecting this book to be a little more longer then the first two with so much happening in the second book and i was disappointed because i just want more.
Plot: A little slow start for me and it took me awhile to get myself back into this world with not much happening story wise in the beginning. Paige Mahoney is now under queen of the London syndicate after defeating Jaxon Hall in the previous book and i am so happy to see Paige ta ...more
