Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
A weird little novelty, this board book is shaped in multiple layers to look like a 3D statue of Winnie the Pooh. But there are pictures and a sweet little vignette inside of Pooh being kind to birds. Fun to play with and read.
(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list... )
This book is a condensed version of A. A. Milne's "Winnie the Pooh". The main characters are Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Owl, Rabbit, and Christopher Robin. Eeyore ends up loosing his tail and his friends end up looking for it. They plant signs all over the 100 Acre Wood. In the end, Pooh finds the tail at Owl's place who uses it as a door bell.
Book of my childhood. I liked piglet and imagined that I living in the Winnie the Pooh house eating honey. Very warm story for children. I created a whole world in my imagination with the book characters. It was a great times
This book is about a little boy named Christopher Robin and his stuffed animal friends Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Roo, and Piglet. Christopher Robin and his friends go on many adventures that only bring them closer together. It would be fun to have my class create their own adventure for Christopher and his friends.
This book is a Disney classic book. It is a perfect book to read aloud to children. All the characters in the book have different voices. The illustrations are perfect for young children. I think that this classic is a perfect book for bed time.
Winnie the Pooh is about a bear and his honey. In this book there is a character for everyone. Each character has a completely different personality then the others. Some are silly and some are shy. This makes it very relatable and it’s one of the many things that help capture a child’s interest.
Delightful, funny. After some disappoinments with book selections, I found this to be just what I needed. I found myself chuckling, and just loved the stories.
Winnie-the-Pooh has been my favorite since I was a little girl. I find all of the characters to be absolutely adorable. Some of them, I find myself being able to relate to. I still enjoy Winnie-the-Pooh and all of his friends and their adventures together, heart warming and entertaining. I would use this book in the classroom as a fun independent reading book for the students to read either on their own time, or during the designated time for independent/silent reading.
This book is about a handful of stories that Winnie the pooh and his friends go through together. Winnie the Pooh runs out of honey, gets stuck at rabbits house, goes through a storm or rain and wind, meets Tigger, has a party, and finally ends the day at home.
This book is good for learning how to get through challenges and situations you just feel stuck in. which is a good lesson for children.
Who doesn’t love Winnie the Pooh? I liked the way that this book could be read all at once or broken down if using it as a bedtime story. It was one story but it had different parts with each character
I grew up with the Disney version of Pooh and wasn't properly introduced to Milne's originals until fairly recently. The originals are, of course, far superior, but Disney is still fun. Now that I'm more familiar with both, I think Disney did do a pretty good job adapting the stories. The language is simpler and more straightforward, but these beloved characters are much the same.
For better or worse, my toddler son is now a fan of the Winnie the Pooh cartoons, so I'm working on carrying that interest over to books -- he's already pretty good at spotting Pooh and "Tig" in the various Pooh books we have on our shelves, but we were rather lacking in the picture book department. When I saw this over-sized Disney Classic Series Pooh book at my local used bookstore, it reminded me of others my brother and I had in that series growing up and I decided to get it for my son. It's long for a picture book at 95 pages, but we read it over two days and, just as I suspected, Pooh and "Tig" caught his attention -- both the names and the illustrations. So the next time he's already watched far too much TV for the day and still wants "Pooh!" I'm glad I have this book to try instead.
This book was also really cute! It follows the adventures of Pooh Bear and is basically an adaption of the animated movie (which is one of my favorites of all time). I think that Pooh is just one of those characters who is amazing and I will love regardless.
It was a really well-written, really cute and really fast-paced Disney book. It had really colorful illustrations, really memorable characters, really fun adventures and great stories. This is one of the best Disney books I've ever read in my whole life. I highly recommend this book to old and new Disney Pooh fans of all ages.
This is a great book about a little boy named Christopher Robin and his stuffed animal friends Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Roo, and Piglet. This is a story of all of their different adventures and friendship. This book would be a great read for any age and help with imagination.
