Absolutely beautiful little book. Makes me think of the voices in a Bach fugue, each one unique and with a "theme", yet complementary and interrelated. Great colours, cute concept.

This book is a novelty book that my wee one chose at the library. She retrieved the book from the library bag while I was doing dishes. She broke the book in that short time period.

Clever idea to see the dolls as individuals who make up the whole family. Look carefully at the illustrations to see all the tools each one needs for their role.

Cute novelty board book in the shape of Russian nesting dolls about five sisters with different interests. The beautiful design and illustration makes up for the sparse text.

Open the cover and meet Natasha, a black-haired storyteller. If this board book had text, Natasha would most likely be the narrator. Look at her back and you will find all the tools she needs to write a story. Pull Natasha down and new doll appears. This is Gayla. Gayla loves nature and is a pet-parent to an owl and a wolf. She also carries with her a tent and snow boots, skis, and poles. Turn the doll-shaped pages—or dolls—by . . .

Ultman, Suzy. Masha and Her Sisters, BOARD BOOK. Chronicle Books, 2017. $9.99.

Shaped like a set of matryoshka nesting dolls, this book introduces readers to each doll “sister” from the smallest to the biggest. Each doll has her own name and personality trait. The illustrations are bright and match the dolls’ specified interest. Each doll folds down to reveal the next size behind her. I love this! Such a creative concept and the delivery is exceptional.
