THE KING AND THE CRIMINAL is the second book in the "Heart of All Worlds" series by Charlotte Ashe, and features much the same cast of characters as appeared in the first book, THE SIDHE, with some focus shifts. Central are still Sehrys, who is a Sidhe of royal birth, and his betrothed, Brieden, who is a human. Along with them are royal humans Brissa Keshell and her sister Cliope; the Sidhe Tash, a former Sidhe slave trader-turned-good guy; and Firae, another Sidhe royal and the one to whom Sehr ...more

Four and a half stars!
I absolutely adored this sequel to The Sidhe. I had been anticipating this book since about the end of the first chapter of Book 1. I knew I would enjoy this book as soon as I could read it. But oh man did I underestimate how good it was going to be. It wasn’t just good. It transported me to the realm and dropped me on the adventure all of these characters were on to fix The Border and save thousands of humans. You’re with characters that are m

As a fan of Ashe's work and her first book, The Sidhe, I was pleased to be asked to review The King and the Criminal.

This is a fantastic sequel, with the main bulk of the story handed off from the first book's Brieden and Sehrys to Firae and Tash, the eponymous king and the criminal. Events from The Sidhe lead directly into this story, from warrior queen Brissa's employment of Tash to the repercussions this has on the magic spell that keeps the world of the humans and the world of the sidhe sepa

When I got the opportunity to review The King and the Criminal, I was nervous. The first book in the series, The Sidhe, meant so much to me. It was hard to imagine even the most capable sequel measuring up to my— rather unfair— anticipation.

Oh me of little faith.

This sequel lives up to the original and, beyond that, it builds on Ashe’s already dynamic world, to reveal characters and relationships I couldn’t have imagined as compelling in their own right. This is a smart, fast-paced, playful, a

I'm not usually the biggest fan of fantasy but after reading The Sidhe I knew that there was no way I would be able to resist the upcoming sequel... And it did not disappoint. Very quickly into it, you're brought back into the opulent and beautiful world that Ashe has created; an incredibly unique world, too, I feel. With a cast of characters that you quickly come to love, and some truly wonderful writing, this is a fantastic follow-up to her great debut.

WOW. WOW. WOW. What a stunning sequel to a really fantastic first (The Sidhe) in a series.
I'll be honest, I really, really love The Sidhe. I've read it at least 5 times. I had high hopes for this book and could not wait to see where Ashe was going to take the story.

I was so not prepared for how much I was going to love this one. The world building -- really complicated world building -- is spot on. The characterization is rich, and the story is one that really resonates. I was on the edge of m

I feel absolutely cheated. The story of the King and the Criminal was a hundred pages less than the first one and you can feel it. Not that it's lacking- but for a romantic fantasy, their relationship comes off underdeveloped compared to the first one couple. Other than that, I'm thrilled that the writer created strong female characters which are usually uncommon in MM romance fantasies.

All in all, this is a pretty strong read.

I really liked the characters that this book focused on this time around. And that ending.. makes me really want to read the 3rd book (that I hope will be coming out soon). overall, I'm quite liking these characters and the world, and I'm quite curious as to the future of these characters.

This book.
Words are failing me to describe the tour de force that is this book.
okay I will try :
- badass female wlw protagonist
- body positivity wherever your eyes land
- i already said so in my review of the first book of the series, The Sidhe, but Charlotte Ashe's abilities to build such a cohesive world, language and myths is MIND BLOWING, and this second part only reinforces my admiration
- the humor! the emotions! the balance of them all!
if it wasn't clear, I am recommending to read this book

Good god this book! This series! This author!

I’m still working through all of my feelings for this book since I just finished it, but let me just start off by saying that it’s absolutely stunning.

To say that I enjoyed this book would be the biggest understatement of the year. I loved the first book (The Sidhe), but I adored this book (The King and the Criminal). The world building and the new characters are incredible. Firae and Tash in the fanfic were awesome, but here…I have no words. I can

I read this book in one setting and I just loved it ! This book is everything and as good as the first one, even better than the first one. I read Ashe's work while she was writing fan fiction and I wasn't sure I would love the two characters from this volume. The first time we met them, in the first book, we met two grey characters, lost regarding what's good and what's not. But the author's writing is just perfected I couldn't not love Firea and Tash. If you haven't started this saga, you defi ...more

This was fun. The romance awesome >> Firae and Tash were wonderful.

Loved seeing Brieden and Sehrys again.

Many elements I really enjoyed, but perhaps a few too many characters and POVs for my liking. That draws out a story unnecessarily, I think.

Kind of hate that there's another installment coming, cause the story hardly moved along and I am dying to see how the Prophecy plays out.

So yeah, the waiting game begins anew :(
