This work offers an overview of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, one of the most popular art movements that included artists such as William Holman Hunt, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and John Everett.
While there was nothing especially stunning or remarkable about Des Cars’ treatment of the history of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, the book was concise and informative and a good simple introduction to the origins, philosophies and figures of the Pre-Raphaelite movement.
This is another I'm reading again. It's a tiny little thing that covers the history of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, many of their paintings, historical photos, and documents associated with the various members.
A few caveats... photos of the paintings/sketches are glorious but small. The text is two sizes of tiny. Also, it only skims the surface of their muses & models, and fem artists.
