Unwind, laugh, cry ... but feel uplifted with this bittersweet love story. Perfect for the fans of Jo-Jo Moyes and Marian Keyes.

So what would you do if your ‘happy ever after’ was stolen from you?

Colm strolled into my life fifteen years ago. If there's ever such a thing as love at first sight, that was it for us both. A few weeks later we married, celebrating with those wh

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I am not really sure how I want to rate this book. On one hand, the story held my interest, but on the other hand, the blurb really had nothing to do with the book. I am clearly in the minority since there are so many glowing reviews...

Let me start by saying that the blurb is what drew me in and what compelled me to request this. The writing style of synopsis, the way the question is phrased "what would you do if your husband sl

Colm and Shauna loved each other at first sight. They married a few months afterwards and can't imagine a life without one another any longer. Fifteen years later things are different, the unexpected has happened to them. They won't get a happily ever after, because of something devastating and there's nothing they can do to prevent it.

Colm and Shauna's relationship was easy at first. They mainly had fun together and that's exactly Colm's area of expertise. When after a few years of being marri

The story of our life really pulled at my heart strings and may have even made me shed a tear or two.
A bittersweet love story of a couple throughout their married life together. You come to really know the characters and fall in love with them as you share with them all their memories and moments and learn that nobody is perfect and either are their relationships. We all make mistakes but we can either let them tear us apart or use them to grow.
A very well written story that will captivate you.

Deeply moving, insightful, and sweet.

This is a heartwarming story that, ultimately, reminds us how precious life really is.

It has a wonderful cast of characters that are strong, real, and empathetic. And the plot is written in a past/present, back and forth, style that gives a wonderful depth and appreciation to all the personalities and relationships within it.

The writing is extremely well done, and you will not only laugh, but cry, as this tale of love, heartbreak, friendship, hardship, and lo

Thank for the opportunity to read The Story in of our Life by Shari Low. I have to say I really enjoyed the book and the story of Shauna and Colm!

Shauna and Colm fall in love – at first sight – and after a very short and whirlwind romance they marry. It feels likes happy ever after………and for years it is apart from some ups and downs like any relationship.

They seem genuinely and blissfully happy, Shauna loves Colm’s twin sons from his previous marriage and is the perfect stepmother. But the desir

This was such an emotional book - telling the ups and downs of Shauna's life. This book alternates between the past and present and really wasn't completely what I expected. First, the synopsis of the book does have the reader ask "what would you do if your husband slept with another woman?" So, naturally I thought this would be the synopsis of the book and how the two main characters overcame this. However, I was wrong. (view spoiler) ...more

The tag line of this book 'so what would you do if your husband slept with another woman' is a little deceiving. This is not the story of the book only a little snippet.
Apart from that little niggle I really loved this book, great story and really likeable characters. Would be a great drama on TV.
Will be looking out for other books by Shari Low.

Special Thanks must go to @Aria_Fiction @sharilow and @NetGalley for allowing me to review this wonderful book.

This really was a lovely book to read, heartwarming and a really enjoyable story. It had everything friendship, tears, laughter.
But believe me, you will not want to put it down.

Colm and Shauna have been married for 15 years. Despite plenty of ups and downs they were planning on spending the rest of their lives together until tragedy turns their worlds upside.

After reading the description of this novel I wasn't quite expecting just how  gut wrenching this novel actually was. I had to put this novel aside for a while once I discovered how sad it actually was compared to what I was expecting from the blurb. I often enjoy sad stories but I do like to be prepared for it fro

To term this a ‘bittersweet love story’ is to undersell this book - it is so much more than that. A whole range of issues and emotions are explored;
relationships with friends and family, the highest and lowest moments in life, and from one tragedy to the next. My heart soared, and broke. I laughed and I cried.

Told from both Shauna’s and Colm’s viewpoint, Shari Low has cleverly kept the reader in tune with who was doing the talking at the start of each chapter. I generally don’t like it when the

not a book that will profoundly change my life but it opens up a new perspective and the way it's written is just so heartfelt that you can't help but feel what the characters are feeling as they go through their moments, as they wait for news, as they hope, as they worry.
I just loved it

The tag line was misleading but I absolutely loved this book. Characters were realistic, flawed, and relatable. I cried more than a few times. Wish there had been a bit more at the end about how the actual event went down, but still loved it.

It's not often that a book makes me cry and laugh and become so enthralled that I can't put it down but this one did... it's a beautifully written story with twists and turns and characters that you fall in love with. A wonderful read....

Such a poignant picture of life it all its shame and glory. These characters span the spectrum from odious to broken to resilient, courageous, and beautiful. Events that shatter, yet love triumphs.

This novel is exactly what the title says it is. It is the story of Colm and Shauna’s lives, told by the two main characters. It is all about their lives now and about their lives when they first met, their story gently progressing to the present time. It’s their family history. It is a tender love story in which they are supported by their family and friends. It’s the story of love at first sight, a quick marriage and all that comes after. The storytelling is beautiful, moving and touched with ...more

The sub section of the title on Amazon for promotional purposes says A bittersweet love story, and just for once it is spot on. I can't think of any better way to describe this brilliant book other than bittersweet. It is full of emotion in some places, had me welling up with tears many times during the book, but in amongst it, were light hearted moments, back in the early days of Colm and Shauna's story.

The book alternates between the story of how Colm and Shauna met and their early years, whi

Who doesn’t love a good, old fashioned love story? I know I do, but The Story of Our Life is not your typical love story. Boy does not meet girl, get married, have 2.5 kids and they live happily ever after. No, this is real and raw, yet it is still a touching love story.

The pace of this book is perfect. It skips back, touching on important moments in Colm and Shauna’s lives fifteen years ago, all the way to the present. Shauna is the main narrator but a few times the story is told from Colm’s pe

I was given the opportunity to read this book thanks to NetGalley and Aria and I am so glad that I was able to. The tagline for this book mentions "a bittersweet love story" and those four words could not describe this book any better. It is truly the best way to describe this story. It is definitely one of my favorite books I've read recently.

This story alternates between telling about Shaun and Colm's early years to their most recent years dealing with the highs and the lows of a love story. W
This book made me laugh, and made me shed a tear (or two!)
The main characters, Colm and Shauna, appear to have everything going for them in life, happily married, and very in love, until one day they are faced with the biggest curveball that life could throw at them.
What makes this book a little different from your regular love story is how they opt to handle their predicament.
The book flows back and forth throughout the years, (each chapter is dated to make it easy for the reader to follow), ou

Between 3.5 and 4 stars. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. This is the story of Colm and Shauna's 15 year relationship - it jumps back and forth from when they first met and through their past to the present day events in their life. The blurb doesn't really do the book justice - it leads you to believe it's all about the consequences of Colm sleeping with another woman but that really is a very small part of the book. It really is the story of their relationship as they navigate al ...more

Oh, boy. I can't like this book. I can only say it was OK. This deals with subjects that I don't usually like to read about. I find them depressing and this book made it even more depressing. Wow, this was a sad read. I did not feel joy or particularly interested in these characters because I already knew what was coming by the description of the book-and sooo much more happens. I was actually mad at this book a lot and that is the only reason I give it 2 stars. Because it made me feel-it made m ...more

For Shauna and Colm it was love at first sight and after a whirlwind romance they married for their happy ever after.........and for years it was. They were blissfully happy, Shauna adored Colm's twins and was the perfect stepmother and she thought her life was perfect until Colm slept with someone else!

A lot of the book is about life when they were happy rather than later but it still has to deal with the aftermath of his betrayal, when they both obviously still love each other, and how they de

A powerful story of exactly what the title says. It's the story of Shauna and Colm's life together. They meet and it's instant love and marry as quickly as they met. It's the everyday the things and the big things like betrayal. The characters are well developed and likable even when they are doing not so likable things. This is very much a raw and powerful story of the inner workings of a marriage many said wouldn't last. It's told by both Shauna and Colm so the connection feels very real, as i ...more

I was part of the Shari Low blog tour. Shari so kindly wrote a piece about a true love and that what this story is about finding the true love and taking the leap of faith, growing old together and sharing the bad and the good as a unit.
Shari Low created a story full of wonderful characters that took me on a roll-coaster journey. I cried and laughed and bonded with Shauna, Colm, their daughter and their friends. The Story of our Life is complicated, wonderfully written, raw and honest. It was so

I read this book in exchange for an honest review. Wow, this was a really good read. This book tells the story of Colm and Shauna. It alternates between their early years and the present day. This was a really interesting and well-done format. There are some foreshadows to later events as you read that are eventually revealed and then the story is complete. It could have snapped me out of my fury, but it didn’t. It made it worse. ‘Because I’m trying to get you to care! You act like it doesn’t matter, but it does. It’s our future.’ He twisted to face me now, eyes blazing, body language screaming conflict. ‘So why does it have to include more kids? Look, I’m not averse to having a baby. If it happens, fine. But I’m not going to lose sleep over it and I wish you’d just fecking drop it and let us get on with our lives. It’s become like a bloody obsession.’ ‘Because I feel like I’m doing it on my own!’ I screamed. ‘Just me, Colm. On my fricking own. Trying to make something happen that’s important to me. And no matter how hard I try I can’t get you to share it.’ ‘Why do I have to?’ His face was pure fury now, a look I didn’t recognise, had never seen.
