Three Hearts--

"I approve. Go out and fuck all the unicorns you want."

I read the blurb and I won't lie...my mind went straight to uniporn.

Virgin...unicorn...somebody was going to be defiling that virgin...

Not this story.

I know, I know uniporn enthusiasts...better luck next time.

Bell Ellis tried a thing, a unicorn shifter romance between a 3000+ year old shifter and a 25 year old virgin someplace set in present day East Coast in "More Beautiful Than a Unicorn". And while the unicorn mytho

There were parts of More Beautiful Than a Unicorn I really liked, for instance, the whole Unicorn backstory and what affect love, sex and light had on Amar. The mythology was fascinating and the author wove that part of the fairytale so well. It was interesting and fantastical while at the same time logical, making me believe in Unicorns even harder than I do now.

Then there were parts that were just, odd. Some of the conversations and the relationship between Amar and Tobias in general didn’t f

Just like unicorns are unique, if legendary, animals who are different from shifters (as far as I understand), ‘More Beautiful than a Unicorn’ is not like most of the other stories in this year’s Daily Dose collection. While Amar is a character who takes both human and unicorn form, he cannot shift at will and the rules of his existence are unlike those of “regular” shifters – if there is such a thing. In line with his more legendary roots, the story reads much like a fairy tale in both language ...more

Tobias is lonely. He’s a virgin – by choice? – and he has a good enough job and a BFF – but he’s lonely. In addition – he’s beginning to think he’s losing his mind because he’s seeing a Unicorn – nearly every day. The unicorn never comes close enough to touch – but it’s always there.

One night he’s out looking for said unicorn – when he’s attacked in a park, a dark, mysterious, and slightly cynical man comes to his rescue, Amar.

For the next several months the two meet on the night of the full moo

Fairy tale of a virgin gay man who keeps seeing a unicorn and a strong exotic man that seem to keep fading away

3.5 stars - rounded up because... a gay virgin and a unicorn (full review)

First off – unicorns! Tobias suddenly begins to see a silver unicorn – just flashes of it – and believes he is going crazy. “Drinking? Hypnotherapy? Acupuncture? Homeopathy? Surely somewhere there was a board-certified treatment for a unicorn infection.” He doesn’t know what else to think. No one hates him enough to play a prank this deep but he’s positive it’s a unicorn he’s seeing.
When he begins to look for the unicorn he ends up being attacked and is saved by the mysterious Amar. Amar doesn’

Short, angsty story about the woes of being an almost four thousand years old magical creature. Lonely unicorn meets lonely, virginal (of course!) man and True Love wins in the end. Sweet HEA.

I really wanted to read this, unicorns attract my attention and I've only read a couple of shifter stories. But, ... eh. I just never really got into it. I rather liked the part where he thought he was going crazy seeing unicorns more than when he realized he was seeing a unicorn. The whole relationship of him getting the guy off but not getting off himself (thus remaining a virgin) just din't jive for me and I didn't really care much. Too bad because I was hoping it would tickle my fancy m

Sometimes you have to be brave because you know it's the right thing to do. Your friends have to learn to trust your instincts as well. This story is magical and hopeful. When you decide to take a chance on love the best things can happen.
