I really enjoyed this story. The author writes well and her heroine Mpenzi is as lovable and as real as can be.
Very entertaining!
Penzi Munro has dyslexia but has coped well, qualifying as a lawyer and raising her younger brothers since her mother left years ago. One day they receive a mysterious package from their father's lawyers. It seems he's disappeared, presumed dead, and their life is going to change. They have to move to France because the house where they've been living is being sold. The other part of the package is her mother's spell book and Penzi must face the fact that she's a witch despite the fact that she ...more

What a witch?

What a witch or not? Mpenzie wants nothing to do with being a witch. She is left to raise her two younger brothers and then their world crashes around them. They must leave England for France because their father is no around. They move into a house in France and happen to run into the mother that up and left them.

The book was slow to start off with but the further into it I read the more I enjoyed it. You need to read to find out why Mpenzie refuses to acknowledge that she is a wi

I received this book free, thank you Katie. It was a fun book. An easy cozy mystery type. Mpenzi has raised her two younger brothers ever since her mother left to find herself and her father was busy in Africa. She received notice that h e died and they had to move to France. And that's when their big adventure starts. A delivery from her dad contains big cat named Felix who is more than he seems. Add in the long lost mother, a murder, and a shaped shifter and you have an intriguing mystery. Sui ...more

Lovely cozy mystery that wouldn't be complete without murder and paranormal beings. After moving to France with her younger brothers they discovered a murdered woman stuffed in to a fridge in the back garden of their new house. Their absentee mother is arrested for the murder. To save their Mum Penzi must acknowledge she is a witch and with the aid of her new "cat", her brother's and her new neighbours solve the mystery.

Loved this book

I rated this book at 5 stars because it contained so many of my favorite elements: a strong, feisty female, and a witch at that; an intelligent talking cat who changes into a leopard and a gorgeous man; two potential romantic interests. What more can a reader want?

I loved the book and cannot wait to read the rest.
It is easy reading and I loved the cat and dogs in the story.
The way the family felt about the mom that abandoned them, but still stick to her when she was accused is moving.

Can't spell

I so enjoyed this book. Although the plot was of a serious nature it was easy to get involved. The sexy bodyguard was easy to handle. Will be looking forward to reading more from this author

Mpenzi Munro is bringing up her brothers in her parents' absence, when they get a letter informing them the father has died and his will dictates they must move out of their home in the UK (which the estate is selling) and move to their other home in France. In addition, her father bequests her her mother's Book of Spells, telling her to keep the secret safe, whether she chooses to admit she's a witch or not...guess that's where her mom went all those years ago. Although dyslexic, Mpenzi has bee ...more

This book has a little different ambience than most books of its kind which is difficult to explain. There is first of all a certain European flair--the characters are more formal, snark has been dispensed with and our heroine is even polite to her mother who abandoned her years ago. There is second the odd circumstance of Mpenzi's dyslexia which seems to be incidental and has little bearing on the story other than as a complication. I have to say that the change in energy is refreshing

Just when everything was going so well........

Wonderful find. A dyslexic young woman has had not only overcome her difficulties by becoming a barrister but also raising her two young brothers when their mother decided she needed to find herself. However life is disrupted when they find out that their father is presumed dead, their family home is to be sold and they will have to start a new life in France. Cute as Can Be

The couldn't spell part of the title slayed me. Love this part.

Absent parents. One dies, leaving three children more than he thought he was. He didn't bargain on a dead body in the garden. However, he did expect someone to show up and so that someone did - only to be accused of making the once upon a time person the body.

The cat he leaves to the oldest. With the cat's assistance, the children solve the murder and get the wrongly accused out of prison.

Short read, nice break from the
Brilliant whodunit about a dyslexic barrister in witch denial and her two younger brothers who are displaced from their home in England to a lovely seaside home in France where they meet the mother who abandoned them seven years ago. Soon there is a dead body, the mother in jail, a bodyguard who is not what he seems, and all sorts of interesting developments. A thoroughly delightful cozy mystery with magic and no gratuitous erotica.

Moving to a new country is hard enough but finding a body in the back yard is really difficult for Penzi and family. Penzi deals with the inheritance of her father's house in France, her long-missing mother entering the family's lives after many years and new characters in a small town. Add to the mix her new companion kitty that is also her guardian and we have quite a read with this interesting cast of characters.
This was an enjoyable little mystery. I was surprised at who the murderer was. The character wasn't even someone I considered a suspect. I liked the little bit of magic sprinkled in. My favorite character had to be Felix. I think Mpenzi and Felix are good together. I will put this series on my TBR list.

quite different a young witch who has dyslexia , becomes a lawyer and needs her brother to read spells to her. Mpenzi and her brothers must satisfy their father's will by moving to France, where they are reunited with her mother. Felix her cat adds to the book who is a shifter that she isn't aware of it. Humorous

A fun book about a young girl as she discovers that she is a witch. Being that she was able to do some magical things, I don't understand why she didn't already know that she was a witch. The characters are interesting and the story moves on and holds your interest.

A cut above the usual Witch novel!!

Loved this book!! Katie's characters are so well developed, beautiful flaws and all, that they feel so real in the moment!! Mpenzi and her bodyguard Felix are a hot romance waiting to happen. Can't wait to read the next novel in this series.

A great mystery and story idea with a touch of magic. I look forward to finding out more about the antique store. The kids turned out pretty good with no parents! But there is drama with that too.
