Convoluted, unbelievable, boring and pathetic
The entire story was so blah. I felt nothing for any of the characters-nothing for the fat-turned-skinny little sister, nothing for the sexy-old-enough-to-be-her-father contractor and nothing for the petty-jealous-over-nothing sister. I couldn't sympathize with anyone or their insecurities, especially the ones old enough to know better but who had obviously never actually grown up. I mean get over it. Everything was so whiny. O woe is me, I was a foster kid and knocked up my foster sister. Poor me, my daddy who isn't really my father loved his child more than me. Jeez, if you want people to love you, don't be a miserly old hag who can't show affection. And there are plenty of couples out there with large age gaps who make a loving and passionate home and don't let the fact that one of them will leave this earth sooner affect their time together. And good heavens, if you want the man you love to realize you actually know what you want stop acting like an incompetent, insecure child.

I've read all the Redemption books, and none of them come anywhere close to being as terrible as this one. I hated the storyline, I hated the characters, I really hated the sexism!
Tracy wasn't really a likable character, but she's about the only one I felt any empathy for. Her grandmother and father both treated her like absolute crap! And the way Jessie didn't do too much to stick up for Tracy wasn't cool either. Why Tracy wanted Mike so much was a mystery to me, she could have done so much better. Mike's disappointed that Tracy wants a career and that her life's focus isn't on him and their future crapload of kids. How very 1950's of him. Why did they even start dating?
For all that Mike kept droning (and droning!) on about his advanced age (38, please excuse me while my eyes roll out of my head) he acted like a horny teenager almost all the time. Leering after his future sister-in-law (so gross) and all her "lush curves". Thankfully, she wasn't a skinny stick like Tracy, you know the woman that he's going to marry. He can't be with Jessie because of the massive age difference (13 years, not 35, another eye roll), but anytime she looks at another man, he goes all caveman. I was just so turned off by everything about Mike.
There's a gross scene late in the book where Mike's son is flirting with Jessie, and Mike goes on about the hard on his son is sporting (yuck!), and then he get jealous and irritated with Jessie as well.
A lot of the story revolves around Jessie and Mike fixing up her grandmother's (hateful old bag) house into a B&B, and the amount of money she had, compared to the amount she was spending was beyond unrealistic. I know it's fiction, but even with Mike donating labor she could never afford all that!

I ended up skimming through this book because it was just too cheesy. Mike is a 37 (sometimes 38) year old contractor marrying the uptight skinny sister when he falls for the curvy much younger (24) sister, Jessie. They work and live together while redoing a B&B her grandmother left her (not her sister). She was 24, not 18, but Mike acted like he was falling for a child. And sometimes she acted like one. They were both manipulative and he flip flipped marrying her sister daily. The worst part of the book was the name confusion. The author interchanges the 2 other male love interests for Jessie, Eric and Craig. This is a do not recommend for me.

There were good things and bad things about this book. Overall I did like it. It held my attention which is more than I can say for many other romance books. Also it didn't have too many obnoxious romance novel cliches. I like Mike and Jessie enough that I was invested in their story. However I didn't like that it was written in several different character's points of view. I typically don't even like dual point of view writing unless it's very well done. But this also didn't deter me enough to stop reading so I suppose that's a positive thing to add. Also, the main conflict got very tiring after awhile. The whole 'she's too young for him' thing just started getting old as a deterrent for their relationship. Also I didn't like how Mike flip flopped between the two sisters out of duty or guilt or something. That's fine initially but toward the end when the characters are all still dealing with the flip flopping it gets tedious. Not to mention that after awhile I kinda wanted to yell at Jessie to just forget Mike already. She's doing all the work for the relationship and while his initial hesitation is admirable, after awhile I want him to then start fighting for her when he realizes he truly is in love with her. Basically I want him to be a man and more of an alpha male and claim her despite the set backs. I just think it would have made him more swoon worthy. Jessie kept threatening Mike saying she was going to start seeing other guys, yet she was always available for him and always telling him to be with her. She never really got mad at him even when he makes dumb decisions concerning Jessie's sister and his engagement to her. I needed her to have more of a backbone. Play just a little harder to get ya know. And get pissed at him. Make him grovel some. It brings more emotion into the book. Another thing that I noticed was that many situations felt just a little too author contrived. Situations and set ups that happened were just a little too convenient to feel natural. For the most part, this was a minor issue until the end when all of the characters situations turned into a big clusterfluck that had me rolling my eyes a bit. The ending seemed rushed and there were too many light bulb moments the characters were all having that were happening all at once that lent to the rushed ending. Again, it just seemed very convenient that all of the sudden every party involved "came to their senses" so that everything worked out just right. I love a happy ending but don't like when it feels too contrived. It's hard to give examples without spoilers, but I just wish Mike would have claimed Jessie before he actually felt like he had to. Even if it meant hurting others. But it didn't happen that way at all. It was an okay ending but just wasn't as much to my liking.

A nice first read by this author.
Yikes! A romantic disaster triangle between two sisters (well half sisters) and one hot construction man named Mike.
Mike is really concerned about getting married and starting a family. He is nearing the big 40 and the clock is ticking louder, louder, and louder. Yes, Mike is a man! He had a crappy young life so he really wants to be a good dad.....and be alive long enough for his kids. Mike really is a sweet guy. His has proposed to career minded Tracy not realizing she might not want to have kids yet. They hit a crossroad. He is concerned about starting over with another woman and trying to beat that 40 deadline. Tracy has to decide if she loves him enough.
In enters cute pixie Jessie, Tracy's younger sister. Jessie has major confidence issues about her weight, her looks, her clothes, etc. Which all get a major put down in Tracy's presence leaving her depressed so of course she munches. Jessie maybe younger but she has an old soul, thoughtful, and with a sense of humor. Her and Mike hit it off right away. Tracy's jealously kicks in and makes life tough for them all.
Mike likes to keep harping on the age difference between him and Jessie all the time. It is like he can't let it go and enjoy himself with someone who actually enjoys being with him too. The age thing doesn't matter to Jessie as love, happiness, and togetherness are more important. As they grow closer together, they fall in love leaving Mike with a major decision concerning age vs. love. Will he make the right choice when Tracy drops her bombshell? Jessie also has a secret. Love that drama!

THE SITUATION JESSIE FOUND HERSELF IN WAS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND. I COULDN’T/WOULDN’T DATE ANY GUY MY SISTER HAD BEEN WITH. EWE YUCKY! MIKE WAS TOTALLY OBSESSED OVER THE AGE THING WAY TOO MUCH. I BELIEVE THE QUICKEST WAY TO AGE AND GROW OLDER FASTER IS TO WORRY ABOUT AGING (it’s gonna’ happen). THIS WHOLE SITUATION WAS REALLY A GIANT MESS, ALL OF THEM BELONG ON THE JERRY SPRINGER SHOW. ;D

Wow, that was great returning to Redemption. I loved the moment when the light bulb goes off, and you figure out how the characters fit with what you've read previously. A sweet and great love story. Love this series and can't wait for more.

A work 15 years younger or a woman the same age? Great story.

Great read!!
This was a beautiful love story between a 38 year kld , Mike Dancers and 24 year old Jessie. I have pointed out the ages of the main characters as their ages play a large part of the story. Mike gets engaged to Tracy, Jessie's older sister.
During this period of post engagement, Mike helps Jessie in converting her beloved grandmothers home into a B&B.
Tracy breaks off the engagement. Mike and Jessie get to know each other and discover an explosive attraction.
Mike and Jessie is beautiful as they are playful, honest and talk to each other about their hopes and fears.
Mike helps Jessie in gaining some self confidence and teaches her how to attract the opposite sex. Jessie blooms under his help. I loved their banter and teasing comments.
Tracy returns wanting a 2nd chance and throws a spanner in the relationship developing between Mike and Jessie.
There are lots of twists and turns in this story that kept me hooked. I didn't want to put the kindle down and just read more to find out what will happen next.
What I didn't like about it was Mike's harping on about his age and how he has one foot stuck in the grave. I just wanted to smack him upside the head.
I didn't like Tracy as she was cruel and couldn't decide what she wanted. She kept back and forward with Mike and was very indecisive.
The story was by all 3 characters perspectives which I thoroughly enjoyed and liked.
Would love to read more about Mike and Jessie's life. I felt sad to leave them at end of book.

A contemporary romance with a twist (actually more than one), this story finds a younger sister and a broken engagement the starting point for a romance between a couple who are separated by nearly twenty years of age.
When Jessie inherits her grandmother's Victorian home (and the suggestion she turn it into a B&B), the scene is set when her sister's fiance, Mike, agrees to help her with the remodel for guests. They work together daily as rooms are added, the kitchen is remodeled, and more. Tracy, her sister, calls off the wedding, too.
As the weeks go by, Jessie and Mike develop feelings for each other, but neither wants to hurt Tracy. But will they act on their feelings? Mike feels he is too old for Jessie, but will convince him otherwise? With Tracy away on business, will the "mice" play? Or will Tracy end up marrying Mike? Who will get a happily-ever-after, if anyone?
Then there is a cast of secondary characters (Craig, Eric, Kristi, and Dan) who may affect the situation.
Some spicy scenes, but not too graphic. A few What-the-tuck trends and quite a few typos (misused words, extra words, etc.) are seen throughout the novel.

This book was amazing yes I will give Mike and Jessie major kudos for inviting me into there world for the time I was there. The book in itself makes a great summers 'awe' read. I suggest you pick up your copy today.
The only down-flaw for me in the book was the secondary character Trace that actually started as a primary. Her story to me wasn't finished in the epilogue the author sort of finishes it but I would have liked to know that she did this and she did that and met this person and talked to that person.
When a error in judgement occurred for her she had her nose in the thick of things but in the end I was glad she did the right thing but after that the author kind of lost me with the rest of the book.
Your going to have to pick up this book to find out what I am saying sorry I don't give anything away or try not too.

I loved this book! Jessie has always outshines her older sister Tracy. But Tracy is a real stick in the mud. Now Mike is engaged to Tracy but he doesn't love her. He has a bad childhood and doesn't think he is capable of loving anyone. In a strange twist of fate Jessie inherited her grandmothers property. Now she want to make a bed and breakfast out of the old Victorian house. Mike agrees to help her and comes to stay with her because Tracy wants him to do boring jobs and all the while she flies across the country for her job. Soon enough mike realizes that Tracy is not the sister for him. There is a lot of push and pull with these two and I just can't say enough about this book! Loved it and definitely going to read the others in this series.

Age Doesn't Matter
I'm always a little disappointed when a series comes to an end. I was able to relate to this book extremely well. There are 14 years between my husband & I. Age doesn't matter when it comes to Committed & True Love. I enjoyed this series very much. I have lived in Pennsylvania my entire life. It was awesome to see some of the major tourist spots mentioned throughout the entire 7 Book Series. Overall I give the "Return to Redemption" Series 4.5 Stars!

This book was cute.
The book was well written and had intriguing characters, I really liked the build up to the relationship of Jessie and Mike. I also really liked how Mike was trying to protect her all the time.
However I gave this book three stars as I feel it could have been a longer book, I feel like the ending should have involved a little more closure, and that it was very fast moving but slow paced.
Overall I enjoyed this book and found myself fangirling so 3.5/5 will read again.

This was the first of the Return to Redemption series Ive read.. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Although there may be some overlap of characters among the books in the series, it was not evident; and this one, number 7 in the series, read as a stand-alone. I would definitely read others and not worry about starting at the beginning of the series. I liked the characters ad setting (Redemption is a town in Bucks County, PA) And I loved that the protagonists were restoring a large Victorian house to turn it into a B&B. I would definitely read more by this author.

Contemporary. I hated how much Mike harped on the age difference and made decisions for Jessie without consulting her, or taking her opinions into consideration. That got old REALLY fast, and he kept bringing it up, either in his head or in conversation with her. Also, keep your dick in your pants, dude. Both Mike and Jessie broke "the code". If you aren't allowed to date your best friend's ex, you probably shouldn't go for your ex's sister, or your sister's ex. That's just asking for trouble, and it's dishonorable.

Here is my problem. I thought Jessie was a fat girl, dumpy with low self esteem. Since when is a size 12 fat? That is normal. Then she loses 20 + pounds and she is a 8 and she has self esteem? Hello? You can be any size and have a good self esteem. Just because you are fat or in this case supposedly fat she suffered from issues.
Lose the weight and all of your problems melt away. Men fall at your feet. Life is good. Wrong. I love Laurie Kellogg's books. This one not so much. Filled with lies, infidelity, unrealistic expectations.

This wasn't too bad. True it did lag in areas but once it got going the overall plot and character growth wasn't too bad. It did harp on too long and was repetitive but once the writer got going again it was fine.

Fun read
Jessie and Mike had great chemistry. A little hard to believe that sisters would be so willing to accept the relationship issues with Mike. Nice that all his issues are resolved. Everything ends up working out - maybe just a little too neatly but still a wonderful book.

Despite some moral questioning of the romance, I found this to be a really fun read! Definitely a totally soap opera, but I let go of my realistic meter, just went with the author, and enjoyed the brain-candy fun! Cute!

Cute romance novel. Fast read but really good character development. Could picture events very well in my head. Hopefully there are more in the series!
