Roald Dahl’s George's Marvellous Medicine is a creative and imaginative story about a young boy, George, who has helped his Grandma while his parents are away during the day. George finds his Grandma rather tedious and mean at times and so decides to take revenge by creating his marvellous medicine.
I enjoyed reading this book because Dahl’s writing allows you to create an image in your mind of what is happening, therefore making this ideal for children from the age of 5 upwards. The use of imaginative writing from Dahl can be emphasised through the reading and into the children’s work as they build up their own imagination. This would be an ideal book for guided reading or for a whole class to listen to while the teacher reads aloud as a discussion can be produced from it about what has just happened and what they expect to happen next.

My favorite character is George because he is funny and I don't know how he made the marvellous medicine. My second favorite character is George’s grandma because her face is very funny and I like how she talks because she has a grandma voice and my third favorite character is George’s mom because she stays a lot at shopping.
It surprised me how smart George is and I'm surprised that George's mom comes only at the end.
I won't change the ending because I like how it is now and the book explains who made the book and explains what routine the storyteller has

George and the Marvelous Medicine was a good book to read by Roald Dahl. The main character of the book is George. He is 10 years old and goes to spend his vacation with his grandma because his father and mother went away. The story takes place in his grandma's house in the present day. The conflict of the story is that George gives his grandma bad medicine and she gets crazy. The climax of the story is that George's grandma takes the medicine and she gets bigger and bigger and wants to eat all of the food in her house. Then, he gives her another medicine because she asks for tea and then she became smaller and smaller. In the book, Mr. Kranky, George's father, said, "She's still getting smaller!" (100, Roald Dahl) In the end of the story, they finally found the good medicine. They give it to her to calm her and then she returns to her normal height.

There are many elements of fiction to be discussed about this story such as the characters and conflict. George is a flat character because he does not change throughout the story. Mr. and Mrs. Kranky are flat characters as well. Georgia is a dynamic character because she changes. For example, when she takes the medicine she changes. In the book Mr. Kranky says, "'Drink it up, Grandma,' Mr. Kranky said grinning hugely, 'Lovely tea'" (96, Roald Dahl). The antagonist in the story is the grandma and the protagonist is George. The conflict in the story is man vs. man because George does not like his grandma. She makes him tired and he is obligated to help her.

I recommend this book to people who like adventure books. The part that I liked in this book is when Georgia became an enormous giant person and when she became small. My least favorite part is when the book talked about giving the medicine to Georgia. It was kind of boring. I would read another book from this author because I like adventure books and some kinds of mystery books. In this book, Roald Dahl writes, "He really hated that horrid old witchy woman. And all of a sudden he had a tremendous urge to do something about her. Something whopping. Something absolutely terrific. A real shocker" (12, Roald Dahl).

This book is called George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. George's grandma is mean, so he gives her a taste of her own medicine. George's grandma grows and shrinks and even caches on fire. George's dad likes the medicine. So they make more and test it on farm animals. The farm animals do lots of wacky things like grow long necks and long legs without making them bigger. George and his dad can not get the medicine just right, so they just give up. Then Georges grandma starts complaining that her head hurts (Grandma is realy big and stuck in the house.) Gorges mom calls the crane company and gets grandma out of the house. Since grandma is too big to sleep in the house she has to sleep in the hay barn.
I liked this book because it had lots of things that in the real world would never happen. One example of this is when George makes and gives the medicine to grandma, Grandma chatches on fire and gets really big. Another example is when grandma got lifted out of the house with the crane.

The book George's Marvellous Medicine is very good. Because the story makes the reader to read the book over and over again. The story is about George who is bored at home. His grandmother is sick and thinks boys who grow fast will become stupid. When George suspects his grandmother to be a witch, he starts to make his own medicine for her. He finds a big saucepan and starts searching his house for anything he can find to put into the saucepan. When the medicine is ready, he pours away his grandmother's medicine into the sink and fills the bottle with the medicine he makes.

He gives the medicine to his grandmother and she grows taller and taller and taller. Do you want to know what happened in the end? You have to read the book.

Happy Reading!
