I love Penny Reid’s brand of romance. She always writes unique, funny, and smart books. Her characters are endearing and the stories keep me enthralled every single time. Motion was no exception.

I haven’t read a book with a good twin swap in the longest time. Mona’s twin sister Lisa is in trouble and Mona is sent to save the day. The only problem is, these two twins may be identical in looks, but they couldn’t be more different if they tried in every other way. Still, Mona is pretendin

I was the worst kind of hypocrite, acting like I had all this moral authority. Meanwhile, I was a lying liar of lies, sitting on a throne of lies, eating lie soup and liar cake.

MOTION, the latest release by Penny Reid is filled with her signature humor and oddball quirky characters. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout the story and while the steam level is lukewarm, the story is what will hold readers’ interest.

I love Penny Reid’s humor. I love her odd, brilliant heroines. I love the men who dig their quirkiness. I. Loved. This. Book. What a great start to this series! I knew virtually nothing about Motion going in, and I highly recommend that approach.

Mona is a delight. An introverted and socially awkward genius with a strong moral compass, she uses hilarious techniques for coping with uncomfortable situations. I love how her mind works. Mona is book smart, but people confuse her; therefore, her decis

I get the biggest kick out of Penny Reid's stories. My nerdy heart soaks up every little scientific detail she hides in them. As you can guess by the title, LAWS OF PHYSICS is full with physics puns and jokes and I ate up every single one of them. GEEK. HEAVEN.

Then there are Penny Reid's awesome characters. Mona is everything I expected and so much more. Socially awkward, painfully so, whip smart, highly organized  but people puzzle her. She has a set of phrases she uses (which are all hilariou

Mona has an identical twin sister, but in reality, they are polar opposites when it comes to their personalities. Mona is very much into her studies, Physics, books, and research. Her sister on the other hand mostly enjoys socializing and is always searching for her ne

This is the first in the Laws of Physics trilogy, and as you would expect in a three book story arc, you're going to be left hanging in suspense a couple of times. I'm not gonna lie, Penny had me more than a little concerned about this cliffy she was warning us all about on social media. It got to the point where I was dreading the end of the book. A Penny Reid book is like a bar of my favorite chocolate – certain to never disappoint! I sat down last night to read my arc of Motion, all giddy because I finally had time to curl up with it and a cup of tea. I was expecting to love it but I wasn’t expecting to be so completely addicted to Mona’s narration and the hot, smart, yumminess of Abram, that I ended up devouring the book in one sitting. Mona is one of Penny’s smartest characters yet and she had me laughing out loud at her physics jokes ...more

The build up in this story is just... perfect. I’m SO not a fan of cliffhangers but it makes me sad to think that if I would’ve let that stand in my way, I would’ve missed out on Abram and Mona’s story. The story is told in that distinct Penny Reid voice: intellectual, witty, deep, analytical, and at times even vulnerable.

There are so many facets to the characters and we get to explore them in a way that really enhances the tale. Abram’s got this openness that sucked me right in. He’s not a pus

Favorite Quotes:

Talking to her was like arguing with a flat-earther. Ignorance plus arrogance is why we can’t have nice things!

Gabby was a nebulous assemblage of unscrupulousness and exasperating nonsense, and we’d likely never be friends again, but she was undoubtedly charming when she wanted to be.

My Review:

I am awed, enamored with, and flummoxed by Penny Reid. She is the only wordsmith I know who could simultaneously create tension and levity with prunes, Moby Dick, and whale poop. She has st

Why did I do this to myself? That ending has me all kinds of crazy and I need more of this story ASAP! Mona and Abram had me on the edge of my seat this entire book and I was just waiting for their tension to finally explode into heated passion. I so need them to get an HEA and finally learn all of the secrets that were floating around this story. I have to say, this may only be the first book in their trilogy but I already know they're going to be one of my favorit

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Okay, so Mona is super focused. She's obsessed with all things physics and relativity and scientificky gobbledygook. Most of it is way over my head, but that's not the point. The point is that this girl is a genius and never really had the chance to be 'normal'. When her twin sister, Lisa, calls her because she got herself in a bit of a pickle, she's a bit resistant. Pretend to be her? They haven't done that since they were kids. Shoot, they barely ...more

Maybe it was because we were warned extensively that this cliffhanger was going to be bad but.. it wasn't that bad? I mean, it was !!! but I think I was also expecting something very different.

That said. I didn't love this. I don't read blurbs (or if I do it's ages before I actually read the book so the details are hazy but in this case I legit had no clue, only that it tied into previous series) so I was unprepared for the direction the plot went.. and while I don't mind the trope, in theory,

Laws of Physics was a book that I’d been waiting YEARS for. I wanted Abram’s book so bad back when Elements of Chemistry came out and I waited year after year, watched it get pushed back again and again and I just kept holding on, hoping that the wait would be worth it and that it would be everything that I dreamed.

Unfortunately, this first novella was nothing short of a nightmare for me.

I wanted to love it soo bad. You don’t understand how badly I wanted to love this book. But while I did lik

I have no words. I'm actually speechless, but guess what? I learned some new ones while reading this. Who knew physics could be so damn HOT!

Also donuts. Like, COME ON! That scene had me screaming at 3am.

This book was an incredibly written tale of a chemistry so strong that no amount of scientific literacy could snap it.

Mona was a very relatable character, despite her gigantic intelligent brain. SIIIGGHHH... Ahab ABRAM was everything I love in a main cha

It's live!

I'm so ready for the next part now.

Omfg that ending though!!! I have no excuse, I was warned but I couldn't do the sensible thing of delayed gratification, waiting until all three parts are available because my greedy little eyes needed to read the newest Penny Reid the very moment it arrived. So I did. And now I wait. Impatiently. Gah.

Damn this was compelling, I was completely obsessed with it, couldn't leave it alone.

You're definitely going to want to read this...

You'll probably yell something unprintable when you get to the end, and maybe throw a thing (not your kindle please, or anything sharp) - but because you will have laughed out loud, and your heart will have pounded a little or maybe a lot while you read this wonderful Penny Reid book, you'll forgive her for a brutal cliffhanger and be very glad you got to hang out for a while with the wonderful characters she creates.

Every time I pick up a Penny Reid book, I know I'm in for a unique story with interesting characters and great banter. This book was everything I expected and more. The banter, the slow-burn romance, the twin swap, the cliffhanger.... Every bit of this book was fantastic! What a great start to this series and I can't wait to see where this story goes!

Fans of Penny Reid’s smart and incredibly witty writing style are going to go absolutely CRAZY over this book! 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝟭 is just the beginning, my friends…and what an AMAZING beginning it was. Mona and Abram are unlike any characters you've ever met and Reid breathes life into them like no other. She had me hanging on her every word with every turn of the page and, as you've probably already heard, she left us with a pretty hefty cliffhanger.

OMG. Loved this one! It ends on a cliffhanger and I am dying for the next book. Mona’s inner thoughts are absolutely hilarious and punny, making her a great romance narrator. And Abram? I’m dying to learn more about him, as well as the side characters

This is a steamy, cute read with LOADS of unresolved sexual tension (my favorite romance trope). While the plot is fun, nothing really gets resolved in this book, but the summary itself explains that its part of a series, so no disappointment there

So there’s Mona and then there’s Lisa and in this book you get a slice of both of them. MOTION quickly launches you into the quirky, intelligent world of Mona. She feels initially one-dimensional and she is definitely somewhat emotional stunted but there’s lots to unwrap with Mona, her quirks, her quips and her insecurities. I like Mona, a lot and I feel like I’ve only just scratched the surface.

Abram is the house-sitter but really the minder and chaperone employed to keep ‘Lisa’ in line. He’s n
