The 46 page "Prototyping for Physical and Digital Products" by Kathryn McElroy is great little book that introduces to the process of creating prototypes for IoT projects. Many great resources are listed, like Instructables, Adafruit learning platform, Sparkfun's tutorials and Makezine.
