Yum... A fierce and smexy Viking!

I read a lot of historical romance but unfortunately there have been fewer books featuring rugged Vikings. Of those that I have read, though, this might be my new favorite!

Sestra is a slave and even though she now lives and works in a somewhat safer environment, she still knows her place. That much is made clear when she learns that she has just been bought. But by who, sh

A steamy Viking tale. Told among days of political upheaval, everything familiar will soon be gone. Even the alehouse in which slave girl Sestra works is burnt to the ground, presumably to "help" their cause. Being braver than she knows, or perhaps because she has no other choice, Sestra is sent off on a mission, a treasure hunt, with the solid, darkly handsome Brandr.

I will warn you, the treasure found comes in different ways and forms.
This is not a read for the feint - hearted. There is skin i

I have voluntarily submitted this review after reading an advanced copy of this book.
I have enjoyed this historical recount of the times of the Vikings ruled the North. The story unravels with drama and gut clenching moments, that with the charisma between the two main characters, adds up to a fantastically good read. For those that are seeking the romantic side of a story, what could be more romantic than a woman willing to sacrifice herself for a man.

Book 2 was even better than book 1, and that's saying a lot! Can't wait to read 3!

An excellent medieval romance in an authentic setting. I have visited Uppsala on a number of occasions and have emerged myself in the history and the culture of the area, and the site where pagan sacrifices took place, still stands today in Gamla Uppsala. The story of Brandr and Sestra takes place at a tempestuous time in history. Brandr has earned his freedom from slavery, and Sestra dreams of being free. When it is discovered that Sestra has unwittingly observed the burial of treasure, Brandr ...more

Sestra has been a thrall, a slave, a servant all her life, and she is now a serving wench in an inn in Uppsala. She has been sold yet to another, and she will be leaving on the morrow, as will Brandr, it turns out; he to Gotland. There is much political unrest in the kingdom of Svea in the year 1022: King Olof has been driven away from the throne by his son Anund Jakob, but worse, the vile Dane Gorm is set on usurping the throne. The Viking Brandr has been having a bit of fun since the summer te ...more

To Find a Viking Treasure by Gina Conkle is all the steamy and sexy that you could ever want from a viking story.

“Growing up a slave of Frankia formed her differently. Sex was her currency. Survival was all she knew.”

Sestra was one of those characters that brought the spunk and sass to this otherwise Medieval setting. Viking settings always seem dark to me. All that pillaging and burning down

This was an engaging, quick read! I was a bit hesitant at first to read it, due to my past experiences with Viking romances. Most of the time the chauvinism is too much, and I throw the book at the wall in disgust. Not the case with this one! While there is some amount of male arrogance, this is to be expected due to the time period and the Viking culture. Gina was great at blending the facts of the time with the romance desired by many readers. It's accurate in its history without turning me of ...more

Everyone has a past, but not everyone has a future. Sestra fears what her future will bring, for she has just been sold to a new unknown master. She has long stopped dreaming of freedom. But she can't stop her feelings for a certain rough-souled Viking, called Brandr.

Brandr has no intention of falling in love with a flame-haired thrall, but fate throws them together.

Sestra has knowledge where a great Viking treasure horde has been buried. If she can find the treasure, then maybe she can buy her

although i don't usually read this of historical romance, i was grabbed and pulled into the story from the first page. i found myself intrigued and fascinated by the historical facts in the story and the characters were a joy to get to know and watch them grow into their own. i also found myself rooting for Brandr and Sestra and booing the villain and then on the next page laughing out loud at something else. it was a truly wonderful book.

i loved this book. it had all of the elements that i look

Excellent is such a paltry description.

I love to read the stories that Gina Conkle writes! I fell in love with Lord Hakan in Norse Jewel when I was also introduced to Brandr. I am so excited to be able to read his story now. Sestra and Brandr are well matched and I love the humor and bickering between them. The plot is rich and strong.
This book has the author's signature of attention to historical detail. I can picture the Vikings and the peoples of the era down the lacings of their boots. She

Sestra has been a servant, slave all her life. Brandt is a Viking warrior who has been teasing and flirting with Sestra. She learns that Gorm, the vile Dane is set on usurping the throne, has hidden a treasure on an island. She overhears where the treasure is hidden, she’s dreamed of buying her freedom and the treasure is the answer to buying her freedom. Brandr, who is a scout for Lord Hakan and he needs to find this treasure to stop Gorm and his plans to usurping the throne. The two must work ...more
Love this story of Sestra and Brandr. Your writing had me smiling, I laughed out loud and you brought me to tears in more than one point in the story. You are very talented and I'm thankful that you have the opportunity to create and publish!! I hope there will be more of these two featured in your upcoming books.

To Find a Viking Treasure (Book 2 in the Norse Series) by Gina Conkle
***I was given an advanced reading copy of this book in return for an honest review***

In this book we follow Sestra and Brandr.

Sestra is a Thrall, slave. She finds out that she has been sold to whom she does not know.

Brandr really likes Sestra, but he has planned to leave the village.

This is a fast paced book. If you have read and enjoyed Norse Jewel (Book 1) then you will love this one.

I love this series and can not wait to se

This is a must read !! I fell in love with Helena and Kaken in Gina's first book in the Norse series. And that is where I meet Sestra. She is so strong. But has lead the life of a Thrall. I wondered who could be strong enough to be Sestra's match. In comes Brandr, and he is awesome. Total Viking !! I cried at the end. I was so emotional. I would give this series 10 stars if I could. I highly recommend this book !!

Sestra and Brandr

I absolutely loved this story!!
It was HOT!!
Their banter is fun. I love how they bring out each other's better sides. Sestra is a very brave slave and Brandr is a brooding lone wolf. The way they challenge each other and fight for each other is perfect.
I hope there is more to come of the this world as I enjoyed the secondary characters and the revisit of the previous story's H/h.
This was well worth the wait!!

My book club and I really enjoyed NORSE JEWEL a few months back, and the minor character of Sestra was one we all pointed out as someone who could have an interesting book of her down, and she got one! I liked this book even more than NORSE JEWEL - there's more passion/tension, and who doesn't like a treasure hunt? I read this in one sitting and look forward to the next!

If you're looking for a good adventure book that has it all- high excitement, action, supernatural elements, and slightly steamy romance, along with a frantic search for an ancient treasure, this is the book for you. Check it out. I recommend it to the reading community.

This is a wonderful exciting story about the slave Sestra and her man Brandr. It was so well written and gave insight on how the Vikings lived long ago. I loved it!

Hi, I’m Gina Conkle writer of Viking and Georgian romance, which makes for interesting characters in my head. I grew up in southern California and despite all that sunshine, I love books over beaches and stone castles over sand castles. Now I live in Michigan with my favorite alpha male, Brian, and our two sons where I’m known to occasionally garden and cook. Living in snow is the perfect excuse t ...more
