This is the 10th book in the Jamie Brodie mysteries and a good short read.In this book we find the focus on Jamie and his brothers Kevin and Jeff who get an unexpected cash windfall. As we discovered early on, Jamie's mother was among the casualties of a drunk driver.Jeff has no memory of his mom ( other than the home movies that Jeff has transferred to DVD) and yet often he sees her in his dreams. The father of the young driver at that time was a multimillionaire and has left an inheritance of a ...more

Meg Perry's books are the perfect read for me when I need something relatively light but interesting. This is very plot driven with strong characters and I loved it. No high angst, not an abundance of sex. Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone.

Loved it, as usual! Jamie & Pete are my favorite couple ever.

The whole will thing was very out of left field but I'm sure that's how they all felt.

Poor Jeff; I think he was just too emotional to think. I really doubt he really meant harm to Jamie.

2.5 stars. It's getting a bit fantastical now. What I liked the most about these guys was that they were pretty ordinary (proximity to dead bodies aside). This sudden windfall was a ridiculous turn.

I started reading mysteries where a lot of us started - with Nancy Drew. I graduated to Agatha Christie, then P.D. James. My new favorite is Peter Lovesey.

I've had the characters of Jamie Brodie and Pete Ferguson in my head for a long time, but just recently figured out how to tell their stories. Jamie is an academic librarian because I'm an academic librarian and it's the world I know best.
