The war began with the death of one person and would end with the killing of many more. Four families paint Chicago red as greed, hatred, secrets, and loyalties divide them to opposite ends of the city.
But in the midst of the fighting and bloodshed, there are those who struggle between love and famiglia.
They are the most dangerous of all.
They have everything to lose. And no one will see them coming.
Chicago War: The Complete Series features the full-length novels, Deathless & Divided, Reckless & Ruined, Scarless & Sacred, and Breathless & Bloodstained.
The author of too many novels to count, Bethany-Kris is a Canadian, lover of much, and mother to four sons, a glaring of cats, and a pack of dogs. A small town in Eastern Canada where she was born and raised is where she has always called home. With her boys under her feet, a snuggling cat, barking dogs, and a spouse calling over his shoulder, she is nearly always writing something ... when she can find the time.
What a great series! It contains secrets, betrayal, and death. No one can be trusted.
The first book explains how the war inside the Outfit starts. Each story focuses on a different couple. But because each book is built on each other, these cannot be read as a standalone.
The series gets more complex and intense the more you read. A perfect mix of romance and suspense. Bethany-Kris did a wonderful job creating a dangerous world with erotic moments.
“No one was deathless in their world. Even the innocents couldn’t be saved.”
I am sometimes wary of reading bundle books because I always end up not continuing reading the rest of the books because I fear that the rest would not be able to compare with the first one or that I would end up binge reading the rest of the book. And I end up devouring the books, sleep be damned!
A war is brewing in the Outfit in Chicago. Mistakes and decisions made in the past wasn’t forgiven nor forgotten and the time has come for people who were responsible for such have to pay. Vengeance or justice, whichever way people would made of it, it will be bloody.
The Outfit is composed of four powerful families – Trentini, Conti, Rossi and DeLuca. It was supposed to be about honor and family. La famiglia. But then some forgot what it was all about and they were consumed by power, greed and hatred.
I was consumed and got entangled in their lives. It was messy, it was bloody and it was all everything I never thought I wanted but have gotten anyway. This series is a must read! A good way for a mafia fix.
“The mafia was what it was. Death came hand in hand with living the life.”
Man oh man...the start of a beautiful series. The first book introduces you into this world of crime, drama and passion. Not only is there passion between couples but passion for the life they are all living. There are ups and downs in the life of the Chicago Outfit. The only way to survive is to follow the rules. Made up of four families, DeLucas, Trentinis, Contis, and Rossis, they are in control of Chicago. When the top boss is no longer the top, tensions rise to figure out who will be the leader overall. Although there is war, you can always find love in the mix. No matter what happens around them, they will all find ways to protect the ones they love.
DEATHLESS & DIVIDED
The way Damian holds this protectiveness over Lily is one of the most romantic gestures in this series. Although placed in an arranged marriage, this enemies to lovers story. Damian has always had a connection to her but Lily didn't trust anyone. While that trust builds slowly throughout the book between them, love builds along the way. My favorite part of the story are the gestures Damian make to ensure Lily's happiness stays intact. You don't want to mess with him.
RECKLESS & RUINED
Alessa and Adriano...I don't know where to start! So much unfolds in this book in the series. It's were everything starts getting really intense. Not only is there tension between all the families. There is a different tension between Alessa and Adriano. When they are in the same room...they don't have eyes for other people but each other. One look from Adriano will make Alessa weak at the knees. There love is so strong...nothing can pull them apart.
SCARLESS & SACRED
Theo is one attractive fella and Evelina balances out his nature so well. It doesn't matter how many problems they encounter, they will always find a way to get through the them together. Theo never thought he has the capability to love with the past he had. When Evelina came into his life...he just doesn't know how she can change him in the best possible ways.
BREATHLESS & BLOODSTAINED
Four years. Four years of sneaking around and staying hidden. A forbidden romance that can be used as a tactic if discovered. There is no possible way Tommas will ever let Abriella be used as a pawn in her family. All he wants for her is to be happy and he would do anything to make it happen. The attraction between the two is off the charts because the love is already there (even if it is not said). When love comes into play, the sexy scenes get quite steamy. Since they already have four years under their belt of discovering how their connection works as a couple, it just feels natural. All the anger from unfolding events will play a part of it. Their love is just as intense as the war happening around them.
FAMILY - THAT EPILOGUE!!
The connections between all characters in the same generation (Damian, Lily, Theo, Evelina, Adriano, Alessa, and Tommas) are so beautifully written. I love how they are extremely close and continue to watch each others' backs. It feels like they are apart of one big family rather than four different families. They know each others' secrets and make sure to protect those who matter. While the older members in the families try to fight for the top seed, one of them has to put a stop to it all before the most important ones die.

What a treat! The way she writes these men in such a dark world is so incredibly realistic. It's really breathtaking if you're a huge fan of Mafia. IMO, no one really equals her. I have a few authors who do but they've ventured into Irish Braugh or Bratva. But this author to really does it for me, corners the market on the Italians. She's one of the few that still installs the Catholic Church & believe it or not that's still a big part of their life. These stories are epic reads & she cleverly inserts characters were either going to meet or have without taking from the main story, sometimes tying them all together. I find myself actually on alert for it.
Well done, these read like an incredible soap opera of wonderful characters, women & supporting characters but to the heart of it is always the men for me. Complicated, loving, dark, even tortured. If you like Mafia, you should start with this author. Recommend.
Emeril Lagasse’s one liner to describe “take your breath away” culinary perfection comes to mind when I think of this literary mafia romance masterpiece series by Bethany-Kris…”BAM!” That’s right, people, it’s pure “BAM!” x 4!
Each book pulls you further into this four family all-out Mafioso war with each one focusing on a different main couple’s unfolding HEA. Don’t even think about jumping around here. Read them in order to get the full impact and details, so when the bullets and blood start to fly, you’ll understand why.
Consider yourself a “Lucky Luciano” because you don’t have to wait for separate release dates. I’ve listed my Goodreads reviews to give you a taste of what awaits you. I hope you find them…“BAM!”, as well.
Title: The Chicago War – The Complete Series (Books 1 – 4), Author: Bethany-Kris, mafia romance genre, each book is a HEA stand-alone but you need to read the books in order, mafia violence, VERY steamy scenes that do not hijack the storyline, no cheating, no love triangles, no OW/OM drama, HEAs.
(This review is based on separate ARC ebooks received from the author in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.)
I am not normally a mafia romance fan but Bethany-Kris can really tell a story! I am so immersed in the mafia world. The story line is perfect and how she write them in 4 books is amazing. I am sad the story comes to an end. I like that all the books have no OW/OM problems and there is no doubt of H/hs relationship and commitment to each other!
This box set is the complete Chicago Wars story from Damien and Lilly through to Thommas and Aribella.
Although each book concentrates on the love story of two characters, the underlying and intriguing story line about the Outfits internal battle for the coveted position of 'the boss' runs throughout the series. The loss of innocent lives is heartbreaking and the emotional battles these couples face are sometimes overwhelming. Each person faced their own problems and were pushed and pulled in different directions, being used as pawns or sacrifices. The epilogue at the end of the final book is quite brilliant, it shows the unity of the Outfit and gives you the closure you need for all the couples. After all was said and done, I couldn't chose a favourite couple, they were all loveable in their own ways and something about each person really spoke to me.
The author done an amazing job creating a world where I could lose myself in all things Mafia. The dominance of the males throughout the book, the race to get allies throughout the family and the battle of minds; it was the biggest, most brutal game of chess and in my mind, the right man, the strongest and most loyal won.
Overall this series was undoubtedly a 5 star read.
Deathless and Divided - Book 1
I loved both Damian and Lilly. Damian is the silent thoughtful alpha male that every woman wants to claim her; dedicated and fiercely protective, Damian eased his way into my top 5 book boyfriends. Lilly is beautiful, fierce and loyal. Forced back home by her oldest brother to fulfil her obligations as a mafia princess, Lilly is all about defiance. She is still bitter, rightly so about the death of her parents when she was a child, Lilly doesn’t make things easy for her brothers. Damian, indebted to Lilly’s oldest brother agrees to an arranged marriage with Lilly, much to Lilly’s disgust. This book has all the drama and nail biting suspense you’d expect from a mafia story, but is well balanced by the beautiful and intimate relationship that develops between Damian and Lilly.
This book introduces us to the main players in the 4 Chicago families and leaves you with so many questions. There were unexpected twists a plenty and more than one wtf moment along the way.
Reckless and Ruined - Book 2
This book answered so many of the questions from Deathless and Divided but left me with so many more. I loved the ‘young love’ relationship between this couple and seeing the lengths they both went to, to prove their love to one another. Adriano is a Conti and Alessa is a Trentini, and if you’ve read the books in order, that is not a good situation to be in with the families warring as they are. Adriano, although only 20 is extremely dominant, confident and protective, which seems to be the way with the men in the Outfit. His love for Alessa is never in question, but will he ever get what he wants. Alessa is the younger sister of Joel Trentini and with him trying to strengthen his allies in his fight to be the boss, he doesn’t care that his actions are hurting those people he should love unconditionally.
This book did not disappoint, there was plenty of drama and bloodshed, some deaths had me cheering and high-fiving the author for tacking out the trash, and others left me a little sad. I really felt for this couple and their struggles. Joel is definitely on my hit list. On so many occasions I wanted to climb into my kindle and slap him, and Dean, urgh I have nothing nice to say about him, so with all the good manners instilled within me, I won’t say anything at all.
By the end of this book, I was left with a few questions, and if I’m being honest, I’m kind of hoping Dino didn’t really die and will come back from the dead.
Scarless and Sacred - Book 3
Well, what can I say, this book so far has been my favourite. I loved all things Theo and Eve. Kindred spirits is how I felt about them. Theo had a tough child hood and then lost his brother Dino, and to top it off is being used as a sacrifice in the Chicago war. Theo has always had his eye on Eve, but as a Conti principessa, she is off limits. Theo is your typical Capo, dominant, hot, protective, hot, demanding and did I say hot!! Eve plays the part of the Conti principessa well; she does what she’s told when she’s told and has the ‘I’m happy and privileged’ smile down to a T. The slow build up to this couple is beautiful to watch.
Of all the books in this series so far this one has truly brought tears to my eyes, you can feel the love, pain and suffering as if it was your own. This book is not void of the bloodshed and violence and that only helps to make this one hell of a read. The suspense, intrigue and drama are present in bucket loads, and this author did not disappoint with the twists and turns, so many questions were answered yet there are still so many more to go.
Breathless and Bloodstained - Book 4
This is Thommas and Aribella's story, and I just loved finally learning more about his couple. They have been ever present throughout the first 3 books and you were always left needing answers. How did they start, why was their relationship so forbidden, and so many more questions. As the final book in the series, we certainly got all the answers we needed.
Thommas was, like all the other males in 'the family' an alpha male, he knew what he wanted, and behind closed doors took it, but to the rest if the Outfit he was a 30 year old single man playing the field. Aribella was a force to be reckoned with, she was strong, resourceful and knew what she wanted sexually. Some of the scenes between this couple certainly brought a little colour to my cheeks
This box set was a marathon for me. It gave me everything! Love, death, destruction, family, chaos, suspense, erotica, brotherhood. And little bits and pieces of the other books I loved so much. It ties in the Marchello's and the Guzzis. This should be a movie or TV series. I absolutely loved it! Everything blended in perfectly. Leaving me craving more. I'm dying to read the Legacy of the children lives and how they all intertwine.
I enjoyed Damien and Lily’s story but I skimmed through the others. It was hard to keep up with who was who and who belonged to which family and all the threads were just hard to follow.
Again, editing errors that threw me out of the story: “in the very least” and “gage his intentions.” <—- gage was used incorrectly at least five times. Also, the extreme overuse of “lover” in Tommas and Abriella’s book was like nails on a chalkboard. I don’t even want to go back and count how many times they referred to each other that way. I don’t want to be the grammar police but come on....
Yet an another amazing series surrounding the Chicago Mafios. Worth some time to read them all!!! Bethany-Kris gives us everything.... Action (in and out of the bedroom), suspense, mystery, family, and in the end love... Who can they trust? But will they all succeed, will The Outfit be better in the end? You'll have to read to find out!
Chicago War is a four book series that intertwines/overlaps multiple couples that each have their own subplot and couple. All with their own scars and issues, schemes and dreams. As well as nightmares and obstacles to overcome. I loved coming back to these stories. This was truly a masterpiece of dialogue.
Deathless & Divided (The Chicago War, #1) Rated an awesome 5 stars!!!
This book… well, how do I even begin? *sigh* It was a roller coaster ride of emotions and suspense. I was quite a bit apprehensive of how Lily and Damian’s story was going to end but I do have to admit that the awesome Bethany-Kris certainly did not disappoint and the much awaited Chicago Wars series started with a mighty bang!!!
Lily has no choice but to accept getting married to a man that she does not know since this is the life that has been chosen for her. For Damian, this is is his chance to clear this debt that he owed. Though both were victims of circumstances, their attraction towards each other was undeniable. In this mafia world, no one can be trusted. Lies are commonplace and loyalties change. Will these two lost souls find each other amidst betrayal and bloodshed?
This is one of the best and most amazing mafia books that I have had the chance to read this year. Their chemistry is off the charts HOT!! I TOTALLY do recommend this book to all those love reading about possessive alpha males who will do anything to protect the one that matters the most to them...

Reckless & Ruined (The Chicago War #2) Rating: 5 Amazing Stars!!!
***ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review***
Rating: 5 Amazing Stars!!!
Well... how do I even start? I've been kinda desperately waiting for the next installment of The Chicago War series since I'd read Deathless & Divided It certainly did not disappoint, of that I am totally sure!
The drama is full on in this story as well- Adriano and Alessa's journey is definitely not an easy one. The only wish of the lovers is to be together, away from the ugliness of the mafia that overshadows their lives but we do not always get what we wish for..
The Chicago War series is truly unique! True mafia drama in its ultimate glory. Each book in the series is beautifully written in such a way that each couple will get their own story but at the same everything is tied up all together..
***************
Scarless & Sacred (The Chicago War #3) 5 SCARLESS & SACRED STARS!
Well to be honest, I did not expect to really like Theo and Evelina's story as much as I did. The third book in the Chicago Wars series certainly does not disappoint. Even though everything seems to have calmed down between the families, one should not believe all that we see. Secrets and betrayals are are at the fore front. Theo is finding it difficult to trust anyone after his brother's unfortunate death, while matters are spiraling out of control. Other players in this dangerous game are more than eager to eliminate him in order to take over his territory. However, Theo is far from giving up. Those who had conspired to murder his brother will pay.
On the other hand, Evelina is doing her best to stay out of her father's clutches by being the good and proper mafia princess everyone expects her to be. In reality, she has had enough and simply wants out but this is not as easy as it would seem to be. The newest mafia boss has no scruples even when it comes to his children and will do whatever it takes to stay in power. What she does not expect is the undeniable attraction to Theo Deluca. He is not the easy-going and reckless man that he pretends to be. He is haunted by certain memories that made him resent everything the Outfit stood for. Theo has scars he will never show and secrets that not even his little sister knows about.
I really love how this book turned out and can barely wait for the finale- Tommy & Abriella's story! The Chicago War series is like no other mafia books. The writing and story of each couple was absolutely flawless. Bethany-Kris' penchant for details is what makes her books a class of its own.

Breathless & Bloodstained (The Chicago War #4) 5 BREATHLESS STARS!
The final book of the Chicago War series is here and as much as I am excited to read it, I am also very sad for the series to end. This is probably one of the best mafia series that I've ever read- it was full of mysteries, lies, bloodbath and certainly drama. Each of the couples featured in the series were unique in their own way and I've really enjoyed reading their stories.
Breathless & Bloodstained is Tommas and Abriella's story and if you've read all the 3 books in the series already, I'm pretty sure you'd be wanting to read their tale. Tommas and Abriella have history together, unlike the others. They've been messing around with each other for years, ever since Ella turned 18. However, everything is not fine. They are madly in love with each other but the prevailing circumstances are not in their favour. The war is far from being over- the key players need to pick a side. Tommas vows to Abriella to end this war that is tearing the family apart but in order to do so he will have to make some sacrifices. Will they ever be able to be together? Read on..
Tommas and Abriella might be THE couple with the most amazing chemistry. Their stolen moments together were the highlight of this book. You cannot help but to be desperately rooting for them to be together. This was a real page-turner for me. Can't wait to read your next mafia book Bethany-Kris!
I love being able to devour a series from start to finish. The Chicago War has subtle references to the Volka Bratva Series which I thoroughly enjoyed, but it's not necessary to read it first. Each book in this collection features a couple and how they came to be. At the same time the opportunity for war becomes evident as everyone’s patience is tested. It was easy to lose myself in the good times but with incidents and family concerns continually surfacing there was no denying trouble was always close. A common thread throughout was the lack of stable family you would expect in this genre. Fortunately, the majority of the next generation were rising above the disconnect the previous generation had created.
This series consists of four full books. Each book finishes at a point that allows you to step aside if you chose to. For me, the temptation to keep going won and I only stopped to make notes at the end of each story. Here are my thoughts on each of the books within the collection:
Deathless & Divided #1 (My Rating: 4 Stars)
Orphaned siblings raised within the mob, take a stance in controlling what they can in their lives. Lily’s brothers realise they have to bring their sister home to give her the best chance at a happy life. The idea of returning to Chicago has Lily DeLuca filled with dread. The past few years she had anonymity which was about to disappear when she returned to the city who recognised her as a significant daughter from a well-known mafia family. Her time spent travelling in Europe has been fantastic, blissfully free of her relatives and the drama they bring. Trust, respect, honour and values are shallow opening up the possibility of war. A strategy comes into play as the uncertainty escalates among the families.
Reckless & Ruined #2, My Rating: 5 Stars
Alessa was a strong, sensible character knowing when to show her cards at the same time as keeping her loved ones safe. In the beginning, Alessa’s options looked grim. Fortunately, the shit she has to deal with doesn’t slip the attention of a man who does all he can to change her destiny. True friends and love have victories along the way. It was evident by the end of Deathless & Divided that the war had begun, and the tragedies reminded me that no one remains unscathed in a war.
Scarless & Sacred #3, My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Theo’s story is about him learning how to exist within the family where he has little reason to trust anyone. Discovering who is responsible for the damage and carnage weighs heavily upon him.
As with the previous books in the series, the story of the war between the families continues. The violence hits epic proportions resulting in more funerals than weddings. I was left suspended with the way their ending panned out and certain we will hear more from Theo in the next book.
Breathless & Bloodstained #4: My Rating: 5 Stars Finally, we get to know the poster couple of the series, Abriella and Tommas, who were able to stay off the grid for over four years. None of what transpired would have been possible if the business had run with the expected respect and loyalty between families. Tommas was a hard to read character. He was true to his word yet how he planned on honouring it puzzled me. Abriella was the ballsiest princess out of all the girls. She lived on the edge, tempted fate and somehow managed to not get caught. When she did run out of luck, she was able to dust off the dictator within her family with style…most of the time!
Abriella and Tommas’ story ties in beautifully as the war draws to an end. The epilogue was a fitting tribute to all the struggles and losses suffered in the quest to return to their family values. What impressed me throughout the Chicago War was the hard fought battles and good times that sustained my book buzz, triumphing over the tragedies they endured!
I received an ARC of this book with the intention of posting a review.
This review and others can be found at: EDGyReviews
ARC received in exchange for an honest Review from the Author and IndieSage PR.
This is all 4 books from the series in one place. It's the best thing ever as each book gets you more and more hooked and you develop and addiction to wanting to know what is going to happen next.
Even though each book in the series is a stand alone for each couple they need to be read in order as they intermingle and plots continue throughout them.
********** Deathless & Divided (#1) What a great introduction to the series. You are given a crash course in the players at the beginning and then you get to know the slowly throughout. I was never 100% sure what was going to happen, the twists and turns were phenomenal.
Lily has managed to escape her mob family for 3 years travelling through Europe but now she's forced to come back by her Brother Dino and forced to marry a man she does not know. Damien owes Dino a debt and his debt is called in forcing him to marry Lily and keep her safe. Despite being forced to marry the connection and chemistry between them is hot and sizzles off the pages!
With the war brewing loyalties are changing throughout the mob family , who will survive the bloodshed.
*********** Reckless & Ruined #2 Glad I was able to read this straight away as I really wanted to know what happened next.
What a drama packed story. Adriano and Alessa's journey is complicated and certainly not easy. With war between the Outfit families, loyalties are divided and they find themselves on opposites sides.
Alessa's brother Joel has arranged for her to marry Dean, a guy Adriano rescued her from when they were 16. Dean is a dick and treats her like property and she must obey him and play by her brother rules.
With Joel having the belief he should take his grandfathers place as Boss after his murder and Riley, Adriano's father challenging for that role, they are on opposites sides of the warring line. Everyone is fighting for their own selfish needs except Adriano and Alessa are fighting for their love.
*********** Scarless & Sacred #3 Everything has calmed down between the families but secrets and betrayal's are still raw and bubbling on the surface.
Theo is finding it hard to trust anyone after his brother Dino's death. For reasons beyond his understanding he has a target on his back as someone wants his territory. He also wants to make those who killed his brother pay.
Evelina is trying to stay out of her fathers way now he's the new Boss, and be the good Mafia Princess she's expected to be. Her dad will do whatever it takes to stay in power. She is taken by surprise at her attraction to Theo DeLuca, there is more to him then what he portrays.
********** Breathless & Bloodstained #4 This is the final book in the series and one I was really looking forward to with Tommy and Abriella's story. This was a long time coming after being teased at the beginning with hints of their relationship from book 1.
They have been seeing each other in secret for years as they had to hide their relationship due to family loyalties and expectations.
The war is far from over as key players need to choose their sides. Tommy promises Abriella that he will end this war that is tearing everyone apart but he has to make some sacrifices to do that. This was a real page turner I was so desperately rooting for them to get their HEA together.
I’m going to make this review short and sweet or I am sure to give away everything because once I start gushing about this book I will not be able to stop! It is THAT good. Bethany-Kris does mafia romance like I have never seen done and I am pretty much setting up my shrine now for her! I fell so hard for every character in these books and I didn’t even know it until it was too late! She makes you feel as if you are there and in the thick of it. These books are so hot and will leave you breathless in more ways than one!
Book 1: Deathless and Divided Damian and Lily are probably my favorite story of all time. I loved the silent alpha type that was Damian’s character. He did what he needed to do and he made no excuses for himself or anything. Lily was a strong leading lady and I loved that about her. She never took anyone’s crap and she was known for holding her own. Their story is one I think I will always love.
Book 2: Reckless and Ruined Adriano and Alessa are fated to never be together even if they have a past worth noting and heated glances for one another. The families are at war with one another and Adriano and Alessa are not on the same team. Adriano has always been there for Alessa whenever it counted and this may be their ultimate test of fate. Are they meant for a HEA or not.
Book 3: Scarless and Sacred Theo and Evelina are two very important people in the mob world and this never bodes well for a relationship of any sort. Theo is focused on who killed his brother Dino while Eve is trying to keep in her father’s good graces as he rises to the top. Whenever these two begin their story together it is one of trust building and heart wrenching but man is it worth the read!
Book 4: Breathless and Bloodstained Tommas and Abriella have been sneaking around behind everyone’s back for years. Being from two families who would never get along and trust one another makes for a very hard relationship but an oh so good read. These two are fighting tooth and nail to be able to have the HEA that they deserve. Tommy is promising Abriella he will figure out hot to stop the war that is going on between the families even if he has to sacrifice something important.
This series has to be one of my favorite series I have read this summer. I couldn't not put these books down. I recommend you one click as soon as possible, capisce?
Man what a great Mafia story! And having all four in one place right after each other keeps the flow of the story so much better than having to wait on them to come out individually.
The first book is great about introducing all the characters…..and there are quite a bit. It’s a four family Chicago style mafiaso and each elder (for lack of a better word) has children and in some cases grandchildren to keep up with. However, Bethany does a wonderful job helping you along with the families.
The women in the family are used as trophies. Seriously. I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t allow my brother for instance, to marry me off to someone in another family only to elevate his status or make peace with that family for his own gain. The men don’t care so much about anything but their power and their money. They will do whatever it takes to ensure they remain powerful and in good standing. Thank goodness the younger generation is sick of this way of life and seem to be holding their own with getting what they want. Which more often is peace and a wife they actually love and adore. Go figure right?
Bethany twist and turns and plots with the families and the characters to make one hell of a story. That’s kinda what it feels like….one big story. Each book is about a different couple but the main story still continues on throughout all the books. I really like that. It’s a pretty easy read and extremely interesting. It feels true to the mafia nature, for as much as I know, and the heat? OMG! Passion, Heat, HOT HOT HOT!!!!! Definitely a very sexy book series.
Extremely well written, characters are amazing and complex, story is fantastic, real mafia feel…..I think this on is pretty perfect. The only one thing is it’s long!!! Like realllllly long. Then again it is four full-length books.
"It certainly helped that everyone now seemed to have someone else in another family. At one time, these people were all separated by their bloodlines and their misplaced loyalties, leaving no family deathless. Reckless actions pushed them even further apart. The Chicago War left no one scarless. Each soul burned by the bloodshed came out of the fire a little breathless, but far smarter and more loyal than before. Honor kept them honest. Family was everything. It was hard to kill your blood, after all."
LOVED THIS SERIES! Wow...great stories, great couples. The men were all alpha yumminess and the women were all strong and spitfires in their own way. I could not believe the treachery and deceitfulness within these families. The unnecessary bloodshed and deaths of innocents all for what. The back stories of these men were very sad and telling. The way the women were treated by some of their own family members was deplorable. Getting little snippets of the Marcello's was awesome - I miss my Filthy Marcello boys! Bethany-Kris is one hell of a Mafia Romance writer.
This series is definitely a must read, my friends. What an unbelievable merry go round of emotions and suspense that will have you reading and sitting on the edge of your seat long into the night. A series so intense with it's characters and plot, which will drive you crazy with the extreme emotions that the Author pulls from you, with her awesome flowing words. So much heart, love, action, hot sex and gritty scenes, what are you waiting for? go and read this series, you won't regret it. Reviewed for HeadTripping Books by Carolyn
I love Bethany-Kris's books. I have not read one yet that I have not loved. The Chicago War series is an incredible series. It is intense, suspenseful and just everything that you want to read in a series all rolled into one. It was really nice having a box-set of the series. It was really nice having the books all in one place.
