Why are there two monsters in Gwen Arthur's office?

She's just a therapist who likes reality TV, junk food, and not getting hit on by Mel, the werewolf PI who works in her building. By all accounts, these two creeps should want as little to do with her as she does with them. And yet somehow she finds herself standing next to her best friend Chloe, being asked to help rescu

The Good

Gwen is a great leading character. She's not the in your face amazing heroine here to save the day, she's here for the sugar. She has a lot of flaws and isn't super powerful. However as an empath, she has some skills to offer and she also can't say no to helping save some missing kids. I loved the look at reading people's emotions and how they felt to Gwen. There's plenty of room for growth both in character and in powers and I'm looking forward to that exploration.

Gwen has quite the int

First off, I received a free copy of this book from Story Cartel in exchange for an honest review.

I have received several books from them over the last couple years and have mildly enjoyed them. This one is different!

I LOVED this book! The only reason it isn't 5 stars is that it was a little too bawdy for my taste from time to time. That is the only thing I didn't like. Seriously, that's it!

The plot was great. The pacing was good. There were hints that there is more to the story, so we want to r

Gwen Arthur has many flaws and a few weakness', the greatest being sugar. Monsters turning up in her office: fine. Being charged with finding missing kids: okay. A horny werewolf getting in her space and trying to get in her pants: gross, but whatever.

Some invisible thief making off with her stash of goodies: Shit is going to hit the fan.

With the help of her empathy, a capable best friend/assistant and the aforementioned horny werewolf, Gwen has to find out who is kidnapping highly magical child

I have mixed feelings about Mixed Feelings. For the most part it was a fun, silly, adventure. The danger was dangerous but I was never really worried about the characters. The paranormal stuff was weird and never really explained but I am sure it will be eventually. That seems to be the way of these paranormal books nowadays. I will read the sequel when I get around to it. Gwen the leading lady who didn't really lead ate a ton of junk food. I love junk food. However, her love of junk food starte ...more

“As I munched irately on my tangy, chocolaty, wafery bundle of deliciousness, I considered the last week, wherein I’d been hired by fairies, bewitched by a demon, nearly seduced by a werewolf, kidnapped by a vampire, and rescued by my gun-toting best friend. All things considered, sharing pizza and wine with Mel hadn’t been the worst thing to happen, but I wasn’t going to tell Chloe that.” (Page 188).

Gwen uses her empathy ability to help her therapy clients. She’s approached by the same two char

Mixed Feelings was a fun read. If I had to sum it up in one word, I would say ‘quirky.’ It was a light, easy read with plenty of humor. Gwen Arthur is not the heroine type, and she basically stumbles through the story with the help of her friends. I liked that she didn’t ‘bravely’ rush in to challenge beings she didn’t understand; the author rightly had h

I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway.

I am so glad that I won this book in the giveaway. I wasn't sure at first if I would enjoy this book, but once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down. Mixed Feelings is a story about an empath named Gwen, who can feel other people's feelings and who has a serious addiction to anything with sugar. Her assistant and best-friend, Chloe, is always trying to get her to eat healthy food. After a visit from two frightening 'monster' fairies tha

I feel super confused regarding this book. I don't hate it but I don't like it either. I'm on the fence here so bear with me on this review.

Other than Chloe, who definitely left me with more questions than answers regarding her life, I didn't really get attached to anybody. I found Gwen extremely immature and the whole "sugar addiction" thing she has going on was a bit too much for me. I found it alarming that this person is a licensed therapist when her whole life isn't what you would exactly c

Entertaining, engaging and amusing

This was a great book that kept my interest throughout. It had just the right mix of humour and action and never once became slow or dull. It was well written and the characters wonderfully presented. I look forward to reading more in the series.
