I found this to be a very interesting book. It reminded me a lot of The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and I mean that as a compliment to both this author and to Jim Butcher.

This proved to be well written, with the occasional typo such as a missing word here and there in the sentence structure but that said, it read incredibly well. The plot was solid, the characters believable and worthy of investing emotion and time into.

It got a tiny bit hard going towards the end but I had definitive images

I read a lot of urban fantasy and don't expect much from Kindle Unlimited - there's not many in the genre that are professionally edited and published. Very favorably impressed with this book, though I found the main character rather flat until the last quarter of the book. That may have been intentional, however. I did pick out the "bad guy" far before it was given away in the book, but I found it entertaining and well-written. The book has a very original and consistent internal mytho

I received this book from the Goodreads First Reads program.

A little bit Sorcerer's Apprentice, a lot of action. There is magic, methodology, mythology, betrayl, and subterfuge. I personally figured out the "perpetrator" early and in the story, but knowing didn't take away from the story itself.

This book is full of magic and the metaphysical, humor and heart, and best of all, plenty of action. Even better than the Dreseden Files, in my opinion.

Alchemy without a Philosopher's Stone

Urban fantasy with a hero who is not only an alchemist but apparently is far older than he looks. If in Salt Lake City one feels as though swinging by his shop is possible. What I liked most was the use of elemental rather than zombies, werewolf, vampires, etc. Interesting new series with the promise of Mal Ward developing in new directions in the future.

Not bad

It was a good book , the story was well written and edited. For some reason I just couldn't get into it,that's why I only have it three stars.

The change of The alchemist

The story was intriguing. Good character building, suspense and action.
Looking forward to the sequel.
The only negative is that the main character often appeared weak. However he seemed to get through most challenges.
