Boice delivers biblical exposition that is doctrinally sound and always relevant, plus he has great quotes from others. If you are doing an in-depth study of Romans, get Boice and read him. It will be worth your time.

I loved this Volume 1. Romans' first 4 chapters in only 500 pages!! :) I've taken various Bible studies on the book of Romans, but this opened up so much truth that I felt spiritually overflowing at every reading. Onto Volume 2. I love having this time alone with me and God.

This "commentary" is adapted from a sermon series, and while it is written in an easy to read and understandable way, it is very detailed as James Montgomery Boice guides you through Romans, after all this Vol 1 is 500 pages and only covers chapters 1-4.

But don't let that put you of, as they were originally preached material Sunday by Sunday, each chapter can be read in its own merit. Though Boice does not lose the flow of the text.

This would be good for "devotional" reading as it not only "explains the meaning of the text" but also "relates the texts concerns to the church, Christianity and the world in which we live" (from the back cover).

I benefited greatly from my reading and would certainly recommend it for those who would like a in-depth, but readable, devotional, teaching on Romans

A brilliant biblical commentary. Academic but still very pastoral. I adore how God has gifted Boice the ability to communicate.

I loved it. It was very deep, but easy to follow. Will keep on reading the next commentaries as well!

I loved this book. I read it each morning as part of my devotions. Although its a commentary, its very much like a devotional and is not dry or intellectual at all. Romans is my favorite book of the bible and I loved learning more about it. I'll be moving on to the other volumes happily.
