Learn what folklore and folk culture are and enjoy a generous helping of sayings, rhymes, songs, tall tales, superstitions and riddles from Kentucky.
Intriguing folklore from Kentucky. Many of the lores can also be attributed to other places and states, as I've heard many of them in Missouri and Arkansas, but they were entertaining as well. The beginning of the book goes into a bit of defining 'folk culture'.
Quippy, quick to read piece on Kentucky Folklore! Living in Kentucky, I wanted to learn a bit more about it's folk culture. This book was perfect. It was funny, intriguing, and well written. My only concern was how accurate some of the information was being an older University publication.
Being a child of 2 Kentucky born & bred parents, I was curious as to what i would find in this book. I was pleasantly surprised. I found many saying that I had heard thru the years as well as their history. I also found many pieces of new information. It was a nice reminder of my heritage!
