Thanks to some hungry customers, the closing shift at George's Market has turned into a graveyard shift. Cleanup in aisle well, all of them. It's a late night snack attack in George's market. Help wanted: minimum wage, maximum carnage."
So on this one things start to take a turn for the weirder. As I mentioned in a prior review, Double Take is doing an entire line of comics set in the Night of the Living Dead Universe. The stories all take place in 1966, presumably at the same time the farmhouse is being attacked in the movie.
One thing I do like is how each series focuses on a different Pennsylvania location to show you how they were dealing with the zombie outbreak. In this one, the setting is a grocery store. We learn that these zombies aren't just out to eat human flesh, but really out to eat ANYTHING as they ransack a grocery store and eat whatever they can get their hands on.
Now, something else we learn is that not only is the "mutation" causing zombies, but apparently its also giving some people..superpowers? It's a little weird, but I wonder if the series is supposedly to eventually morph into superheroes vs zombies.
The art is decent if a bit cartoony, and the story is interesting if not what I was expecting. The superpower thing really threw me, but I'm curious to see what happens next.
