This is an alternate cover edition for B00Q9NMV0O

A Charming playboy. A girl on the run from love. An exotic location where the weather isn't the only thing that's hot.

Kate Saunders is sure of only one thing as her flight to a new life lands in Dubai: short of joining a convent, her new job teaching at an all-female school is just what she needs. Until she meets Kai, that is.

Cultured and worldly, Kai lives a life of wealth and privilege where he always gets what he wants. And what he wants next is Kate. He's determined their relationship is only going one place: his bed.

The road to hell may be paved with good intentions, but it's also littered with underwear when Kate struggles to resist his sweet, filthy mouth. Talented of tongue Kai may be, but he's also not quite who he appears to be. Kate's life is about to take a turn for the complicated, leaving the one she left behind look easy.

Pretty Hot is an erotic romance, and like Dubai, it's pretty steamy. It's intended for a mature audience, one that enjoys losing itself in exotic, international locations and erotic tales. Ultimately, it's a love story. The Story of Kai and Kate.

Well the title tells all...Pretty Hot is...pretty damn hot! I wasn't quite sure what to expect at first, afraid since I didn't know anything about the culture I'd be lost. Not the case at all, I followed along quite nicely. Besides being hot this book has also got some funny moments. I laughed out loud more than a few times! The sense of humor this writer has will keep you in stitches, and it seems like the funny comes at the best of times, shakes things up a bit.

"Well, I'm not saying she puts it about, but her favourite shade of lipstick is penis, if you know what I mean."

"Does this say sophisticated and flirty or for fifty Euro's y'can come in my bum?"

Really? How do you NOT laugh out loud at that!?!?
But then you also have the hot...the so hot it heats you up, hot!

"Turn, kitten," he whispers, my hands still in his.
"Open your eyes. See how good we look, how we fit together."
My insides ignite at his words, his kisses and coaxing tongue softer than before but passionate still. His mouth trails my neck and jaw, my hands still restrained and held in his before they slip away, skimming down the sensitive underside of my arms and across my ribs. He teases and moulds my breasts in one palm, his mouth lowering to the other, the twinge of teeth causing me to hiss between his sucking and licking touch. My body bows and I cry out, overcome by the mixture of hot liquid pleasure and his now biting touch. I thrust my hips forward, my arms still above my head and rattling against the door. I'm wanton and bewildered as pleasure and pain unite, but I don't need to think. Just feel.

I've already started on the next book, Pretty Liar, and can't wait for the third. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this author and her books to come!

Just weeks before her wedding, Kate comes home to find her fiancee cheating with the stripper from his bachelor party. Kate decides the thing she needs in order to get over the betrayal is distance. LOTS of distance. She heads to Dubai to get a fresh start. With the help of her friend Niamh, Kate manages to find a job teaching at a distinguished school.

While trying to decorate her new classroom, Kate falls off a ladder… and into the arms of the handsome Kai. Despite her best efforts to avoid him, it seems fate has other plans, constantly placing her directly in his path. Niamh keeps telling Kate that the best way to get over her ex is to get under a new guy. Kate finally relents. What started out as a one night stand has Kate pushing her sexual boundaries and feeling things she didn’t think she’d feel ever again.

Donna Alam’s debut novel is full of great characters, witty dialogue, and lots of steamy sex. I can’t wait to crack into Pretty Liar!

Wow. Just… WOW. This was a completely different book, in a great way.

I have never read a book set in UAE, so the customs there were foreign to me. Donna Alam did a great job of explaining things and making the story flow well. And that, I find, is hard to do.

The two main characters come from VERY different worlds. And yet they seem to fit like a pair of gloves on a cold winter day.

“It’s like the saying goes, a dirty mind is a joy forever. Still, it’ll make it all the more fun when you eventually let go.”

This book, as the title suggests, brings the heat. In a country where kissing in public can land you in jail, these two would end up lifers in jail! It is also one of the funniest books I have read in a long time. The humor can be off color but man, oh man, is it delivered with a one two punch guaranteed to keep you giggling.

Be warned, if you read this book in public you will end up looking like a two year old squirming in their seat, and laughing like a loon at the antics. I can’t wait for more!

Donna Alam is a brand spanking new British author and this was her debut novel. There's so many books and so little time and I'm inundated with review requests which I unfortunately can't keep up with but this book held interest for me.

It's set in Dubai and it's about an Australian schoolteacher. I have a friend in Dubai who is a schoolteacher, my daughter visited recently so I'd heard a lot about the United Emirates. Immediately my interest was piqued as I like to read a novel where I can visualise the area and relate. This does not happen that often.

As always my reviews are spoiler free so don't be afraid to read on.
So picture this - Hot, secretive, wealthy, mysterious alpha male in the name of Kai starts pursuing a girl called Kate who is a new member of teaching staff. She's left a cheating fiancé behind to start a new life. Kate is slightly naive but confident in many areas. She's not a pushover and as the story progresses we really get to know her character well.

'To get over someone you need to get under someone else.'
There's no harm in a one night stand is there? It sounds good but things don't always go to plan when feelings and raging orgasms get in the way. Oh yes there's plenty of orgasms and they're extremely hot, hence the title 'Pretty Hot.'

This was so much more than I'd bargained for, excellent writing, great plot, hot dominant alpha male (borderline Dom).
But what I really found a breath of fresh air was the comedic value. Think Alice Clayton or Tara Sivec style. I have the feeling that this author was a stand up comedienne in a past life. Her quick wit, her sarcasm and her ability to make me laugh out loud was second to none. There was lots of inner dialogue from the female lead Kate/Kitty Kat which had me rolling on the floor laughing especially when she met with her best friend Niamh from Ireland. Niamh was an excellent secondary character, her banter and her strong will and confidence was very realistic, everyone needs a best friend like Niamh. The author just floats in and out of the Irish, Australian and Arabic accent with great ease and it was very refreshing to learn about the countries as I read. It was obvious this lady did her research. There was also great hilarity even in the sexiest of scenes which to me made it more realistic. Sex is funny!! I mean who hasn't had sex with their socks on? Then there were chapters that were so sensual and hot as hell that I found myself speed reading. I was extremely invested.

This is #1 in a trilogy #2 'Pretty Liar' is already available to purchase and I will be moving onto this very soon. I'm told it gets even more hot and heated. In conclusion this was a fabulous debut novel filled with sexy times , humour and angst. Highly recommended. I'll be keeping a very close eye on Donna Alam in the future.

Favorite Quotes:

“Heifer? I’ve seen more fat on the pencil my mammy’s butcher uses.”

“Time seems to take on that slow-mo T.V. effect as his head rises, the sun beaming through the tall windows and cresting his head. All that’s missing is the sound of a celestial choir as he looks directly at me, his eyes warmly reflecting recognition, and – I can’t help it – I beam back like a schoolgirl of the very gauche kind.”

“Well, I’m not saying she puts it about, but her favorite shade of lipstick is penis, if you know what I mean.”

“He was seriously uninterested. In fact, I think his answer was something like ‘if he’d a back full of willies, he wouldn’t give her one.’”

“I’m so out of my depths, I’m probably risking the bends.”

“He’s not bad looking. Shame his pal has a head like a half chewed toffee.”

My Review:

Pretty Hot was aptly titled. It was smokin’ hot with an extra side of steamy. I reveled in the irreverent and clever humor of this fish out of water story. An Aussie girl and her Irish friend living and working in Dubai of all places! The clash of cultures was interesting and a bit sticky, and at times, rather icky… but I really try not to judge. I adored this delightful story and it was all fun, games, and new experiences until – damn – he broke her heart… which squeezed mine. But hold on and swoon, he frequently quotes Shakespeare to her - so of course she forgives him. The storyline is entertaining, unique, and enthralling. The writing is crisp, humorous, and full of amusing observations. But oh no – a heinous cliffhanger. Arg! I am foaming at the mouth…

Witty banter? Check! Humor? Check! Exotic location? Check! Steamy sex scenes? CHECK, CHECK, CHECK!!!!

Donna Alam has found the perfect recipe for a funny and sexy story and shows plenty of promise for her additional books in the “Pretty” series. Not only are the conversations between naïve Kate and hot, hot and worldly Kai (did I mention he’s hot?) smart and funny, but the sexual tension --- and release --- is combustible!

I was able to relate to Kate, but also very drawn to Kai’s determined and commanding attitude, both in the bedroom and out. Yet I could also understand Kate’s hesitance when she realizes that there is a whole world of sensuality out there and she’s only seen a fraction of it so far. That is until Kai shows her more pleasure than she’s ever experienced. And all of this is accomplished while maintaining a humorous tone throughout the book.

Add in a wildly uncouth, but very funny best friend and you have a wonderful journey that is a pleasure to go on and far from over! I’m very much looking forward to seeing what Donna Alam has in store for Kate and Kai’s continued story!

I really wanted to like this, but it just fell flat. I love romance novels that are fun with quirky characters, but I think that it took too long for the story to develop for me. Then the main characters meet for the third time and kiss, etc...it just felt out of place. I was told about the connection, but I did not feel it.

The heroine finds her fiance cheating with a stripper. Kate moves to Dubai where she take a job as a teacher. At school she meets Kai. I loved their initial meeting and their cute, short second meeting in the restaurant, but the meetings were short. Kate is drunk in their third meeting and the "connection" they have just felt awkward to me. Where did it come from?? Maybe it was the writing style - I am not sure. The story felt like it had fillers. There were more interactions/conversations between secondary characters than the main characters.

Also an annoyance for me - the heroine has a BFF that pushes random sex. The BFF that encourages the heroine to have sex with a stranger to get over the cheating boyfriend.

This may work for you, but it did not work for me.

This book was a great combination of humor, exotic location, and hot sex scenes. Kate was a really relatable heroine. You got to learn about Dubai and the UAE along with her. She has a great wit and humor about her. Some of her thoughts had me laughing out loud. Kai is a super-hot, wealthy and mysterious man. If you like alpha males he is definitely your guy. Some of the sex scenes are borderline BDSM but not too far. Overall I really enjoyed the whole book. I had a hard time putting it down. It had a great plot, was well written, and excellent secondary characters on top of main characters. This is the first in a series and ends with a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Pretty Hot is the first book in The Pretty Trilogy.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I can honestly say it won't be my last. She is a fantastic writer and captures your attention and pulls you right in.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like the book at first but once I started I was addicted! This is the story of Kate and Kai, and one hell of an erotic romance! I am so excited to see what the future holds for this Trilogy!!

Had a slow start for me and I was just not relating to the characters. However at like 70% in the plot starts to thicken and BAM! Donna hits you with a major cliff hanger. I will be reading book two because I would like to see how things end up especially with the differences in culture.

When Aussie girl, Kate, walks in on her soon to be husband f**king a stripper she packs up her life and heads to Dubai to start fresh. With her friend Niamh by her side and a new job in an exclusive all girls school, Kate is hoping her new surroundings will help heal her broken heart.

Within a week of her new-found freedom she falls 'literally' into the arms of the wickedly beautiful Kai when he rescues her from an unstable ladder. Kai is a wealthy Arab businessman who grew up in England so has a sexy british accent and a GQ worthy body that Kate can't help but drool over. While Kate attempts to turn down his advances, his persistency eventually weakens her resolve and they embark on a friends with benefits type of arrangement.

While Kai treats Kate to some eye-opening experiences, Kate tries to protect her heart from investing any feelings in Kai other than the sexual kind. The sex between these two is erotic and sensual and the sexual innuendo and witty banter thrown back and forth makes the story thoroughly enjoyable.

Being an Aussie myself, I absolutely adored Kate, and laughed out loud quite often at her awkwardness and use of the Australian 'slang' language that no one else seems to understand. She presents herself to the world as a strong and capable woman but her vulnerability and cute inner dialogue shows how all women feel at times when lost in a grown up world.

Kai is suave and sexy and could make your panties melt with his intense gaze. When he describes what sort of car he'd be he picks a Bentley Continental - "Because i'm a new take on a traditional model, have plenty of staying power, my stylish exterior masking just a couple of unexpected kinks."

The story had a real mix of funny moments, intense sexual encounters and flirty banter while laying the foundations for a great story to continue on in the next book in the series. While a mind-blowing and explosive episode to Kai and Kate's relationship brings us to the end of book one we are also left wanting more with a cliffhanger ending. With an exotic location, an Australian heroine and a sexy, kinky Alpha male all in the one story, what more could you ask for ;)

Where do I begin? First, what book did everyone else read that they gave it 4 & 5 stars, I must have a different copy! This book was all kinds of bad crazy! The beginning was boring as can be, it dragged along so slow -I almost put it down. The "Australian" slang of Kate at times really distracted from the reading, leaving me confused at what was being said, from the different slang from here in the US. Then some of the actual words used, I would need to look up there meaning in a dictionary (which I didn't bother cause I just really didn't care for the story to want to mess with it). I don't want to read a book that you need a dictionary to interpret meanings. Fancy words don't equal good writing, if you have to have a English Masters degree or a dictionary to understand the wording, does not make for an enjoyable read! I want to escape when I read, not get a English word lesson...The emotional connection between Kate & Kai was not there. It was only about the sex between them. There was nothing there to drive the relationship. Sex does not make for a real love relationship. The sex scenes were ok, not totally compelling to me to want to keep reading them, I started skimming thru the sex scenes. I also felt Kate was like a woman in an abusive relationship, not seeing how destructive it really is to her wellbeing. The spanking scene really disturbed me, Kai was down right cruel to Kate. I understand some people like the BDSM scene (not me, painful sex does not equate in my mind, to a loving relationship). My understanding is that in BDSM there is always a safe word, mutual agreement type of thing, everything very controlled, so it doesn't come across as abuse. But that scene was excrutiating for me to read, he tells her to say a word in a different language without her understanding the meaning as a way to stop things, doesn't give her an option on the whole situation, he has no remorse that she didn't understand, just thinks she was trying to tough it out for his enjoyment, selfish abusive jerk! Gosh this was awful!!! This is one author I will not read more books from, this left a horrible taste in my mouth.

Pretty Hot by Donna Alam a superb five-star read, Its funny and hot It’s the Story of Kai and Kate and its set to a beautiful sandy backdrop. It’s the first book in the Pretty series, and the first thing I will be doing after posting this review will be buying the second book Pretty Liar I can’t wait to read more about these two, the chemistry they have on the page is phenomenal.
Katherine Saunders or Kate as she likes to be known ended up in Dubai after catching her husband to be in a compromising position with the stripper from his bachelor party. Kate ran away to her friend Niamh knowing she would make her forget about her troubles for a little while. Before running away Kate lead a predictable life after university she returns back to the same all girl catholic school that she left before heading to University. After running she gets a job in another all girl school, one that provides a nice but small and bland apartment, in a block her friend Niamh knows a couple of guys, what could go wrong.
Kais bin Faris bin Hamad Al Khalfan or Kai as he is more commonly known is tall dark and delicious, he always gets what he wants, and after saving her from braking her neck falling of a ladder he decides he wants Kate, all of her no matter the consequences. Despite sort of being her boss as he is on the board of the school she works for and his mum owns the school, he still can’t let her go. Despite not being a believer in marriage or relationships, and having some proclivities that not everyone would understand he starts falling for Kate without even realising it.
This book is about relationships and how easy or complicated they can be, dependent on how much you want to invest and how much you want to fall. It’s a love story so well written that you can see the love developing before your eyes.

Wow...Kai. Yeah...Kai is pretty hot and he's what gives this book the tag: Steamy. The cover really shows him off, don't you think?

Kate really doesn't stand a chance against his heat. She's just run from her ex-fiance. He's a total jerk. She's moved to the other side of the world to get a fresh start. And there are men nearly everywhere. Well, not at the all girls' school where she teaches, but definitely everywhere else. She's not sure she wants to jump back into the pool, but she's really enjoying looking at all that man-candy.

Kai wanders through and she just has to give in to temptation. And she's happy she did. And we the readers are happy, too!

There are some stumbling blocks to an HEA in the form of culture issues. Ms. Alam lived in Dubai and writes with expertise on the differences. Made for some very intriguing tidbits.

This is the first in a trilogy, but she leaves us in a *mostly* good place and the next book is due out soon.

I suggest that if you are looking for a steamy read to keep you warm during this cold December days, do give Pretty Hot a chance!

*Time to be honest, I was the editor for this one, and an honor it was, too!

Katie flees her Australian home in the wake of a bad breakup. Having a friend in Dubai makes it an easy choice for her to get a job teaching and relocate there. Katie's friend Niamh, who is Irish, is hilarious and just what Katie needs to recover from her heartbreak.

Kai is from an affluent traditional Arab family. He is gorgeous, smart and wealthy. Everything Katie's new friends tell her to stay away from. Well, we all know how that works out.

I truly enjoyed this read. Katie's inner dialogue is entertaining. She and Niamh's conversations made me laugh out loud. Katie and Kai are just plain hot together, guess that is where the title came from.

The writing is well done and easily draws you into the story. I liked the location as it is new for me and I like learning about new places. This is the first in a trilogy and ends in a bit of a cliffy. All three books are out so no worries on having to wait.

I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more; finding out what comes next for Katie.

She arrives in Dubai to start a new life as a teacher. She only has one old friend there, Niamh, who encourages her to find a new man. The life she left behind in Australia stil haunts her, especially as her mother keep calling her, trying to persuade her to forgive her erstwhile fiance. She caught him in the act with a stripper the day before their wedding. What else would you expect her to do?

Anyway, she soon falls for a rich, handsome Emerati and the hot action begins. And I can tell you that it is VERY hot!

It is good to read an erotica novel with a strong background story. The characters are developed nicely, and there is some variety. My only advice to Katie s she embark son book 2 in the series, would be not to trust anyone. Well, maybe she can trust her old friend, Niamh, but nobody else.

It's a fun book, and I recommend it.

Pretty Amazing story line

These are the feelings that come into m mind when I went into this book. I had this for so long and now I regret why I didn't start it sooner. It starts with kate finding that her fiance has been cheating on her. She moves to Dubai, completely new place for her to start afresh. There she meets a sexy sexy Kai and O.M.G their interactions, their every touch, every smile was quite addicting. I kept reading and reading to know more. The story line like I said already is quite refreshing. The world that the author painted for us: Dubai was breathtaking. It felt like I was there the whole time.

I would highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the next. Thank you for this amazing book, Donna!

I really liked her best friend she was hilarious. I found that the story was lacking character development and the relationship between the two didn't mesh well for me. I really liked that I learned some Arabic culture I thought that was really neat ;)

I will be reading the second book :) thank you for the opportunity to read your story ;)

WOW what a story. Kate and Kai romance is steamy hot. Page after page never disappointed. At first I was a little confused about all the characters but once I got that straightened out I was good to go. The pace is between steady and fast. The story ends in a cliffhanger ( I already got book two) and the plot was excellent about how Kai was going to get Kate. Shane her ex-fiancé shows up in the end and all heck breaks loose. A must read.

I was a bit hesitant about even marking this as read on here - not sure why. But I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Although some of the logistics and the scenarios got a bit muddled in my head. Like one minute she's at brunch and then the next she's leaving but she hasn't eaten? But maybe I missed something.

I really like Kate, she's easy to identify with - but maybe that's because I'm a fellow antipodean - or at the very least a South African hahaha. She's ballsy, brave and (to quote the young people) funny AF.

Her Irish friend is AMAZING - I wanna be friends with her hahaah.

Although her Catholic guilt is a bit outdated, I'm not a terribly religious person so I don't suppose I'd identify with that aspect. I can't wait to find out more about her snivelling ex and her complicated relationship with her mother.

Then there's Kai... what can we say about the character Kai, yes please is an answer that springs to mind (also can't wait to delve into that backstory), although he does come across as a bit of a douche-nozzle... which will easily be explained in the second instalment- I hope.

I do hope it's incidental but I am seeing the odd characteristic with another "gorgeous' BDSM obsessed billionaire...(Don't judge, yes I read them).

The long and long of it, I will definitely be checking out more by Donna Alam.

5 *RED HOT* Stars

Pretty Hot is the first book in The Pretty Trilogy and debut novel by Donna Alam. This scorching hot read is an explicit, erotic, modern romance- set against the exotic backdrop of The Middle-East.
Kate Saunders is an Australian school teacher, who is engaged and about to be married. She comes home one day, to find her fiancé having sex with a stripper from his Bachelor Party. Broken-hearted by the breakup of her relationship, Kate leaves everything behind and fly’s across the world to her friend Niamh, in Dubai. With Niamh’s help, Kate finds a job at an exclusive all-girl school, and begins her new life.
Climbing a ladder to hang decorations in her classroom, Kate loses her balance and starts to fall. She braces herself for the impact and the injury she is surely about to sustain- only to find herself in the strong arms of the deliciously handsome man who just saved her.
Kai al Khalfan is a lawyer/businessman who is wealthy, worldly and suave. He set his sights on Kate from the moment he caught her falling off the ladder, and decides he has to have her in his bed.
Having just come out of a bad break-up, Kate tries to protect her heart by repeatedly turning down Kai’s advances - until she can resist him no longer. She thinks one night will be enough to get him out of her system and for him to lose interest in her and move on. But one night with Kai and Kate finds herself falling for him.
Kate was warned about getting involved with Emirati men, how they would use her, steal her heart and then discard her. Is that what Kai plans to do, can she truly trust him- after all, they come from two different worlds how can they possibly make it work. Add a jealous ex, a territorial former fiancé, a meddling mother and an over-controlling father- and we get a recipe for a deliciously juicy and enthralling story.
I loved Ms. Alam’s ability to transport me to Dubai with her written words- introducing me to a city, culture and religion that I was completely unfamiliar with. But with the images that she painted with her words- I was there, experiencing all the wondrously exotic sights and sounds.
This book is fantastic, a true first-rate read, incredibly well written with likeable and fully developed characters. I read it in one sitting- who needs sleep when this amazing book had me in its grip! I was so fully invested in in the story and characters that I just couldn’t put it down.
Donna Alam has a wonderful sense of humour- her quick wit and sarcasm resulted in some really funny moments and had me laughing out loud.
The sexual encounters are so incredible- so steamy and electrifyingly hot, that the words just about melted my kindle- my panties didn’t fare so well.
Pretty Hot is the first book in a trilogy and as such, it ends in a cliff hanger. I couldn’t wait to continue the story so I’ve already started on book two. (All the books are available now).
I enjoyed Ms. Alams work so much, that I have purchased ALL her books and plan to have a Donna Alam book binge. Her books are so addictive- Ms. Alam will need to write many, many more books, so I can keep getting my fix!!!
I have just become a certified Donna Alam Author Stalker (the good kind)!!

Review:
“My palms against the hardness of his chest, I can feel his heart beating solidly beneath his skin. His eyes never waver as he reaches beneath the hem of my dress, pulling my now naked thighs hard against his. It’s a t ouch my body seems to recognise as I whimper or moan, I’m not sure which.”

5 pretty hot stars!!! This book is scorching hot!

Kate is ready to start her life over and has just landed in Dubai ready to take on her new life. She’s landed a job teaching at an all girl school, the exact distraction she needs. That is until she meets the ever present Kai. Kai is rich, cultured and gets what he wants, when he wants it. And guess what he wants now?? Yep, Kate! He wants her in his bed and he wants her now. But as much as Kate tries to resist him, the more she wants him. But Kai isn’t who he claims to be, which will turn Kate’s world upside down! Is she ready for all this?

This book is smoking hot and dead sexy!!! If you aren’t falling love with Kate, you’ll be falling in love with Kai and his dirty, filthy mouth!! This is the first book I’ve ready by Donna, but it won’t be the last, I can tell you that much!!!

Pretty Hot is book 1 in the Pretty Series written by Donna Alam. The book starts with Kate catching her finance’ on their brand new couch with a stripper from his stag party. Yep, their wedding is only a month away and he’s with a stripper in lucite heels.
Instead of being a victim, Kate picks up and moves from Australia to Dubai where her hysterical Irish friend named Niamh already lives and works. Niamh encourages Kate to start dating and get over the fiancé. “You know why they’re called nuns? ‘Cos they get nun. And you need to get some…thing”
Kate meets a mystery man while working as teacher in at an all-girls school; Could he be the dad of a student? Could he be a husband of a teacher? Just who is HE?
Kai may not be exactly who he seems to be. He comes from wealth, works in the family businesses as a lawyer and lives, at least part of the time, in a hotel – far away from home. He also has a few creepy family members lurking around.
Pretty Hot is told from Kate’s POV and you can see how she is confused, turned on, surprised, enchanted and everything in between by Kai.
I enjoyed this story, the relationship development, friendships and the story’s humor.
Book 1 does end in a cliff hanger, but books 2 and 3 are also available so I can find immediate gratification in continuing to follow their journey.

A fantastic 4.5 stars from me.When Katie discovers her fiancé in a compromising position, with the stripper from his bachelor party, she packs up her life and moves to Dubai to be close to her best friend Niamh, and to accept a teaching job in an all-girls school. She immediately attracts the attention of a one of her new neighbours, as well as a gorgeous, and obviously cultured and wealthy, local named Kai. Katie is unable to comprehend what a man like Kai sees in her, but he’s not shy in making his intentions known, or doggedly pursuing her. It’s not long before she succumbs and falls into his bed. Through the detailed and steaming sexual encounters, Alam gives us hints as to Kai’s true predilections in the bedroom. Katie finds herself drawn to him, despite a number of niggling concerns with regards to his family and whether Kai is being honest with her about his life. The main issue being an ex-girlfriend who doesn’t seem to want to let him go. Just as Katie starts to really fall for him, she begins to doubt his intentions and feelings for her, then a blast from the past raises its ugly head and we are left needing to know what will happen next. This was a really well written debut novel that blended erotica, romance and humour seamlessly. Niamh provides most of the laughs and I just loved her character’s witty comebacks. It felt to me that Alam has either lived in the UAE or done an awful lot of research, her attention to detail was amazing. Her descriptive scenes really painted a vivid picture of life over there. The only reason I deducted half a star, and this is just my personal reading preference, I found at times that it was too intelligently written, that everyday words had been exchanged for more unusual or “fancy” ones. I like casual easy reads to switch off, but I was regularly having to use the dictionary feature to get meanings of many I’d never heard of, so it did slow me down and take away some of the spontaneous enjoyment for me. Overall though I loved where the story was going and that enough information was given to pique my interest, while holding back other details to have me wanting to get into book two, to see what was in store for this engaging couple. A really impressive debut!**I was provided with a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review**

Received an ARC for my fair review. Again, this is one of those books that I kept saying to myself that I would get to, and waited and then regretted, it was funny, and glad I finally read it. Poor Kate, finds her cheating scumbag of a fiance sleeping with the stripper of his bachelor party just weeks before their wedding. Sooo she decides that distance is what is needed to recover, she gets a a job with the help of her good friend. This same friend keeps encouraging her to sleep with (keeping it clean) Kai. Supposedly her one night stand, but turned into more, she ends up feeling things she did not think she would feel again. This was nice and steamy!!! On to the next one....

Kate Saunders decides it is time for a new start after she catches her fiancé cheating on her with the stripper from his bachelor party. She puts Australia in her rear view and heads to Dubai to teach at an all girls school there. Thankfully her dear friend, Niamh already lives there, so she will not be completely alone in a foreign country.

At the end of her first week at the new school, Kate decides to start putting her little touches on the classroom and begins to decorate it. While trying to hang something, she falls off the ladder and is caught by a very attractive man. He introduces himself as Kai. Kate can't believe how good looking Kai is. He immediately reminded her of a GQ model just coming off of the runway. Right from the beginning of their first meeting, Kai flirts with her shamelessly.

As Kate is coming off a relationship she isn't looking to start a new one, so she tries to avoid Kai and not give him a second thought. Apparently fate had other ideas. Every where she turned there was Kai. Niahm told her that the best way to get over the old guy is to get under a new one. Kate takes the risk and has what she thinks is a one night stand with Kai. It was the best night of her life. She figures after the one night there wouldn't be a repeat performance with Kai. He had other ideas. He just couldn't let that one night be the only night they shared.

Kate and Kai come from different worlds. Kai's culture is so very different from Kate's. His ideals are opposite of what Kate believes. Kai grew up cultured in a world of wealth and privilege. They couldn't be more different but together they were a perfect match. Kai pushes Kate's sexual boundaries and takes her to new heights. He makes her crave things she had no idea she craved and makes her rethink so many things.

This book was a good debut for Ms. Alam. I did have some issues with the book. For me, it did take some time for the book to catch my attention. It started off at a slower pace then what I would like. About 65% in, the book started to move and the characters were more developed. I do look forward to the next book in the trilogy. Warning this book does end in a cliffhanger.
