Claudio Naranjo was a Chilean psychiatrist. He was co-developer of the Enneagram of Personality. His studies and investigations oftenly focused in the search of spirituality to find mental stability, and also some times, the use of lisergic substance to free hidden and harmful thoughts.
Wow, 2020 what a year. Going into 2021 I didn’t want to make any concrete goals. My only intention for 2021 is to enjoy the blessing of an ordinary day. Whatever that may entail. I want to be more intuitive with what I consume with my body and my mind. Naranjo’s work is a perfect pair for that. He’s a Chilean-born psychiatrist of Arabic and Jewish descent who integrates psychotherapy and spiritual traditions. This book is so grounding, and giving me strength where I need it most.
It’s about cultivating awareness beyond our ego, inequality, education beyond religion when it comes to a spiritual practice, and the necessary change for the economy and society as a whole. The social commentary on transforming our institutions by first transforming ourselves is one that I have heard before, but the cultural lessons present throughout the book will keep you turning the pages.
2021 - here’s to hoping for re-humanizing our systems and creating a global consciousness to realize a new way forward. Cheers.
