Insightful Parenting - Making Moments Count

Rate this book
Insightful Parenting tells you more than merely what you should do with your children. This is a cohesive approach to parenting that includes specific strategies for every age and new skills to help you know how to use every moment of every day to teach your children what they will need to know in the future. Starting with preschool examples (e.g., getting out the door in the morning), it deals with friendship problems, the defiance of early adolescence, and takes you right to the summer before college. It is a demanding demanding that you look inward to discover how to be the parent your children need you to be. After you read this book, you will find yourself thinking about the moments with your children in a new way and you will parent differently as a result.

While I believe the author has some very good points, I really struggled with the way this book was written. It was if he never fully established what tense to write in, and that combined with the tone left me annoyed. A lot of repetition, yet still managed to be unclear. Too bad, because I believe that with restructuring, what he has to say could be valuable: respond calmly, know that your children are learning how to deal with life, and it is your job to teach them.
