On Higher Ground is the sequel to On Solid Ground. The blurb confused me because I honestly thought this was a series, not a sequel. I thought we were getting two new characters. Whoops, my bad! So, a reminder to all, this can NOT be read as a stand-alone.

I enjoyed On Solid Ground and rated it 4 stars. It had a few stumbles, but the mixture of military men, PTSD, tattoos, a service dog named Tonka, a child and hurt/healing/comfort made up for the flaws. I feel the same way about book 2. It has a

*** Amazing, loving, astounding gay romance story ! *** Melissa Collins hit it out of the park here ! This tremendous tale is beautifully written, with deeply stunning characters, and a superb and artful telling of a wonderful love. Here we have Dax, Beck, and Violet from On Solid Ground, and this is their second part of the story that wraps them up in a big terrific ribbon.
Dax is back from war with severe PTSD, and has Tonka,

his brown Lab service dog.
Beck is now expanding his Tattoo shops a

5 Stars to this AMAZING story - This story is Dax and Beck's life, Love, and Reality as they build their family This is book 2 in the On Solid Ground Series and must be Read after book one and in order, you cannot read as a standalone. In this book we catch up with Dax and Beck and see what they have been up to since we left them in book one and of course, Violet & Tonka Too!

I enjoyed this story and watching how Dax and Beck settled into the roles of insta-Dads along with how they were as a co

Joint review with fellow reviewer Lisa.

Lisa: On Higher Ground by Melissa Collins is the continuation of Jacob “Dax” Daxton and Beckett Ridge’s (a.k.a. Beck) love story, two beloved characters that we met in On Solid Ground (book one). I have a confession to make. Ready, Mark? I usually HATE when authors decide to continue a story about the same characters in a second book, particularly when the said characters have already gotten their happy ending. So, why in the heck would I decide to dive rig

I felt like this book wasn't necessary but it was a good addition. I didn't mind at all and I enjoyed this Duology.

I really want to read the next book in the series but that's about another character.

This is a review of the On Solid Ground Duet
4.5 stars--Part one: On Solid Ground:
Love is love...and these guys had no idea they were about to find it when they least expected it and that it would change the course of their lives. Beck is an edgy, rough around the edges tattoo artist and Dax is a struggling, anxiety-ridden war hero. They meet just by chance. Both are lost. Both have suffered tragedy, loss, and guilt from their past. Both are broken and putting on a facade for those around them.

Dax and Beck's blistering HOT and emotional romance continues in ON HIGHER GROUND by Melissa Collins. If you haven't started their journey yet, STOP what you're doing and purchase ON SOLID GROUND.

If you fell in love with these two men in the first book, then be prepared to take another heavy and emotional rollercoaster ride in ON HIGHER GROUND. This is a story about love, belonging, and acceptance. This about a love so deep and so everlasting, that even though there may be some demons that have

On Higher Ground picks up where On Solid Ground ends. I do not recommend that you read this one without the first one.

I think that this author is really getting into her groove with this one in writing this genre. This is by far her steamiest M/M to date. I loved their chemistry.
I think the reason that I can't rate this one higher is because it felt like their story line was somewhat dragged out. There was some unnecessary angst and drama that I just could have done without. It kind o

I really loved going back to time with Dax & Beck - their chemistry and love for each other is just beautiful. There's a real sense of trust and loyalty with these two and their protectiveness of each other and Violet is warming to the heart. While they both go through self doubt and times of challenge, they always come back to each other...
It's a lovely series and while it gets some mixed reviews, it connects with me ❤️

I loved The continuation of Dax and Beck's story! No matter what they went through they never gave up on each other and their love. The extra bonus of this story was Violet and getting to seem them both as dads. I can't wait for Micah's story!

Let me preface this review by advising, this is the continuation of Dax and Beck's story, my opinion and suggestion would be to read that book first. There is so much that happens and a lot of things are set in motion in that book that you will better understand if you've read it first.

Dax and Beck have settled into a comfortable life with Beck's niece whom they adopted after her mother was killed. The PTSD is far from gone, but Dax does have a better handle on with Beck's love, patience and as

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

On Higher Ground is a continuation of Dax and Beck's story. I highly recommend reading On Solid Ground. There are a bunch of references to things that happen in that book that aren't completely explained. It's not impossible to read it as a stand alone but a much better experience to read it as the series was written.

Dax and Beck are continuing on with their lives as a family. They are facing ups and downs like any norm

4 Stars!

I really, really, really like this author. While I am not a huge reader of M/M romance novels, this author made me a reader when I stumbled across On Solid Ground. And since then, I have been a follower and fan of this author. And when we thought we saw her best, she comes back and shows up why she is one of the queens of this genre.

Well Melissa Collins is at it again. In book one we met Dax and Beck. We watched them struggle and go through the motions only to fall in love and find the

OMG THIS BOOK! SO MANY FEELS!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, On Solid Ground, and I was super excited to see that this was going to be a direct continuation rather than a new set of characters. I really loved all of the obstacles that Dax and Beck have to go through, and how they communicate and work to overcome them together. Violet is adorable (she's one of the few kids in stories that I really do like! Adorable, cute, but not overly and unbelievably so), and I just loved ge

“... sometimes the things that made us weak, that nearly broke us in half, ended up being the things that solidified us.”
On Higher Ground is pure perfection. This isn't just a long epilogue but rather a truly emotional romantic tale about try and built a great life together. I love how complex are the characters, I like their passion and I'm glad that the whole story is so real and believable. I enjoyed it very much.

I wanted to read this sequel since I've read On Solid Ground and I wasn't disappointed.
I really liked Dax and Beck love story that I did need this beautiful long epilogue.

Our two sweet guys still have to overcome some issues in order to reach their happiness and enjoy the rest of their life together as a family.

Protect. Heal. Love. Belong.

These are the guiding principles that have allowed Beck and Dax, despite everything that has happened to them, to create a life together…to heal some of the fractures that their respective pasts created…to chase some of the demons away and feel a sense of coming home with every embrace, every kind word.

But, even though Beck and Dax are now on solid ground, there’s still work to be done; there’s still hurts to be healed and fears to be handled. A sense of belonging and

4.5 On Higher Ground Love Stars.....

"Love is love, and family is family. "

On Higher Ground is the continuing story of Dax and Beck, and of course how could I forget sweet little Violet. If you read On Solid Ground you know the story of Dax, Beck, and Violet, the three of them together are perfect for one another. From their devotion to each other, the bond they all share, and the love is absolute perfection. I would recommend reading On Solid Ground before this one, it would help you understa

Jen's Review

This book takes place like a year and half after where the last book ended. This story brings us more insight into the trials and tribulations of these men. We see a greater depth to Dax and Beck’s characters, as these men come to terms with their pasts while they move onto their futures together. I honestly didn’t know what to expect with this story. I thought for sure Melissa would have given us a follow up that would have been all hearts and flowers right from the get go but it wa

On Higher Ground is the continuation of Beck and Dax's love story, so if you haven't read On Solid Ground STOP RIGHT HERE and pick it up now.

I always read the acknowledgments that the author's place at the end of the book. Melissa stated in her acknowledgements that "love is love and their story showcases that perfectly". I honestly could not agree more. What Dax and Beck have is non-traditional to some...but love should never EVER be discriminated against it. Love comes in all different sizes a

On Solid Ground by Melissa Collins has one of my all-time favorite couples in it, so when I heard Beck and Dax were getting another book, I may have screamed a little. Or a lot. At the end of On Solid Ground, Beck, Dax and Violet were a family and happy, but we didn't get to see the rest of their story. We needed the rest of their story! Dax is having nightmares again and they haven't set a date for the wedding. Beck and Dax both feel they are not connecting, but they aren't blaming each other. ...more

Can I just throw out there how much I love this cover!

I loved the first book in this series. Let me first start off with, this book had no plot. At all. It was just a year in the life of them, and their transition from a new couple to moving on in their relationship. Going from the honeymoon phase into really starting to begin their lives. Getting married, buying a house, establishing their careers. You know, normal things that occur in real life.

This book takes off right where the last one left off. Dax, Beck and Violet trying to move on and find a happy normal after losing Nikki and plan their wedding!!! Which was amazing by the way!
I was a little leary in the beginning, I thought we were going to have problems with Dax, with the whole Micah thing, which I was kinda bummed he just left and we didn't get to see what happened to him. I was hoping he'd have gotten the help he needed and could have kept his friendship

Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students.
