Leslie Dick's meditation on generosity via an evocation of the potlatch tradition is straight-up brilliant. The story about the lesbian love affair of Justice and Mercy is quite clever, and reveals just how radically particular justice must be (think Kafka's "Before the Law" retold by militant lesbian activists. Only, you know, with a light heart).

The first five stories were totally forgettable, the sixth was excellent, and the seventh was good.

Kathy Acker's "Dead Doll" is worth the price of the book.
