One life-changing summer.
One boy.
The boy.
The boy who offered me safe touches and heart-stopping smiles - smiles he shared with his son.

Deep, soul-aching, desperate love.
But love is misleading.
It's an invisible, fleeting moment.

I’m Becca Owens- a broken girl. And he’s Josh Warden- the boy who broke me.

Kick Push was at the very top of my favorites list of my 2015 reads. I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for this sequel, and when it showed up on my kindle, I had to take a day or two to prepare myself to read it. It was nervous. For Becca. For Josh. For Tommy. But I pulled it together and devoured it. What can I say about Coast? Jay McLean nailed it. I felt ALL the feels. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I cr

'Coast' is the second and final installment in Jay McLean’s duet series entitled 'Kick Push' and it was as good if not better (in my opinion), then the prequel. Jay delivered an equally heartwarming and heartbreaking tale that from the very first chapter it will make you feel. I enjoyed 'Kick Push', the first installment in the series, but I absolutely loved the continuation of Josh and Becca’s story. I cried and smiled with them, I rooted for them from the start and I fell in love wi

I’ve always been a fan of Jay’s work, her quirky, authentic characters always manage to win me over – I feel like a know them. I experience their pain, their happiness, it's always so easy to immerse myself into the stories she creates.
And I realized…
That the world was full of perfect things. And broken, faulty people.
Picking up Coast and heading back into the world of Josh, Becca and Tommy, was a bit nerve-racking

Kick Push is one of my all time favorite books. I swear I still remember how I felt reading that story, I remember the excitement I felt at reading period. Because that book made me feel everything. It consumed my heart and mind. Then came the wait for the sequel. The wait to see where Becca, Josh and Tommy would end up.

I was equal parts nervous and excited to read Coast. I was dying for more Josh, Tommy and Becca, I love these three together. I also didn’t want the story to end, because I love

As always when reading a sequel to a book that I absolutely adored, I get so nervous, my expectations are quite understandably high, and quite often I build things up in my head too much, which can often lead to disappointment. I wasn't sure what to expect, I fell in love with all three of the main characters in Kick, Push and all I wanted was to fall harder and feel stronger in this conclusion to their story.

Oh boy this book is EVERYTHING everything… I fell in love with these characters back in Kick Push last year and have been waiting for months for this. I can also tell you I was nervous about this book because at the end of Kick Push I was left somewhat exhausted, all for the right reasons…

But this story gripped me from the beginning and was everything I wanted and needed this read to be.

Minor Spoilers for Kick Push but not many, just want to clarify I need to

Not even sure how to adequately put in to words exactly how much I loved Coast. It was an emotional yet fulfilling ride to experience as these two characters find themselves in love and together once again. Time has passed between the end of Kick Push and the start of Coast. When the book begins we learn both Josh and Becca have been living separate lives for some time now. In spite of that their lives still manage to collide.

It is no secret that I fan-girl all over Jay McLean! It’s not because I belong to a group or the fact that I have actually met and spent time with her. It is simply because I get what I want and love the most written in the pages of her books. I love when a romance is profound. I love reading a tale of coming of age with all the angst and moments of finding oneself. I especially love clever writing and genius humor that is dispersed with memorable one-liners even in the harshest of circumstances ...more

Even though it took me nearly two weeks to read this, whereas I finished Kick, Push in one day, I still loved this one. Honestly, I did get stuck around the middle because one, Becca and Josh were being a little flaky in what they wanted and two, I wish they would have come back into each other's lives willingly rather than by a circumstance. But in the end, between how much I love these characters, the superb writing, and the awesome

The ending of Kick, Push was really hard to had me wondering how Josh and Becca could make it through all that. And as much as I was hoping for a HEA for them, you just never know what authors will do.

But...the beginning of this book gives us hope. Becca has a list of "fears"...sort of like a bucket list and she's working on crossing them off with help from her Dad. One of them is seeing Josh again but she does it and it's hard and wonderful all at the same time...for both of th

Coast picks up Josh and Becca’s story a year or so along from Kick, Push you need to have read this book to understand the depth of everything that this couple went through in that half of their story, to get why a lot of what happens in Coast is necessary to their coming together again as a couple as the book progresses.

Without Josh providing the laugh out loud moments and Tommy melting my heart with his sweetness, this probably wouldn't have been as enjoyable for me. They were definitely the saving grace in this scenario and bumped this read up to four stars. Part of the reason why I couldn't fully enjoy this as much as I wanted to is Becca. She had me kind of annoyed and confused. I didn't really get a sense of when her convictions changed. At the beginning of the book, she is so adamant. So, what happened? W ...more

Ok, so I read Kick Push earlier this year when I was reading Christy's 2015 favorites list. I had never read one of Jay McLean's books before, but I immediately fell in love with Josh and Tommy. When I got to the end of that book and I wanted more. I was very anxious for the rest of their story and now I've finally got it. I loved it!

Continuing this book straight after reading the greatness that was Kick, Push, I had HUGE expectations for this one. And that was probably where I shot myself in my own foot...

I liked this book, I really did. I just didn't like it as much as book #1. I didn't enjoy the storyline as much. I didn't like the h and her push/pull head games as much. The pacing was slower than book #1 (not that, that's a bad thing, but it didn't compel my excitement as much).

Wow, Jay McLean, you’ve just rocked my world!

I loved Josh and Becca’s love story in Kick, Push, though I did find that book to be a little overly heavy on the drama. These two characters went through SO much, I felt it was a bit of an emotional overload, only for us to then have to wait for their happy ending! I admit I was nervous about this book, but it was the PERFECT ending for Josh, Becca and little Tommy!! It was

Although I think Kick Push can be read as a standalone, one thread stayed open at the end of the book. This story is mostly set two years after the events in Kick, Push. Becca and Josh are not together. They have different lives with different paths. Josh is a pro-skater and is traveling the world and Becca is studying, doing some volunteer work, trying to heal and get better and of course still taking pictures.

What I liked:
The fact that both characters had their own journeys, they both did what was best for them as individuals. Josh followed his dream and it
