Even though she didn't remember it too exactly or too well, she knew what happened to mortals who caught the attention of the gods – especially mortals who also happpened to be females. Never a good ending, especially for the woman.
Goddess of Light revolves around Pamela, an unlucky-in-love interior designer, and Apollo, the Greek god of prophecy, archery, music, healing, poetry, and the Sun. There's also Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and Apollo's twin sister, and Dionysus, the god of wine.
Goddess of Light is the most emotional and bittersweet of all the Goddess Summoning installments. Apollo made a brief appearance in Goddess of Spring. He was a bit of a jerk in that book, but he has more than made up for it in this one. All of P.C. Cast's heroines are strong and capable, but the female character I relate to the most is Pamela. I understood her fears and reservations. The romance between her and Apollo is a *chef's kiss.
Artemis stole the show with her sassiness and forwardness. My only gripe with P.C. Cast's version of Dionysus is that she took the Mount Olympus equivalent of Jim Morrison and turned him into a villain. And an ugly one at that. Blasphemy.
We spend a lot of time in Las Vegas, take a detour through Mount Olympus, and catch up with Hades and Lina in the Underworld.
The ending is melancholic, heart-wrenching, and hopeful all at the same time. I adore this book. Where can I find a Greek god?

I LOVE this book!! I really like the relationship between Apollo and Artemis. This may be my favorite of the entire series. Apollo is absolutely loveable. Bacchus is a super fun character...even if he's kinda a butthead! The ending? Heartbreaking or a beautiful ending? I am not even sure. I felt them both. Love it.

Goddess Of Light was an amazing read for me and I'm currently struggling with words and thoughts, that seem unimportant and imperative-- all at once, trying hard to place even the barest of magic I felt into this review.
I'd already read and fallen hoplessly-in-love with the Goddess Of Spring and discovering that I liked this one better (though by a mere difference of, lets say.. a hairweird I know, but go along with whatever I say, I've lost my mind and heart to this one) than the one I just mentioned had been a completely unexpected bombshell for me too. Really.
Apollo. Sun God for the Romans. Beautiful, sensual, golden, ginormous, honest, merry, adorable, (mentally adds adjectives she can't recall for future editing) gifted Apollo. He turned out so different from what I'd anticipated. Yes, I love brooding, sexy, sarcastic bad boys. But heavens, this blonde perfection had me heels over head, deep in love with him, even though he was no bad boy like the Hades I earlier talked about. *fans self*
The female main lead, Pamela Gray, was great too. I really liked her. But instead of wasting time on describing each character for you, all I'm gonna say is, I loved the fun light blanket some scenes endowed, and the deep, heartbreaking mesh others did. The way the characters evolved, I couldn't help but be delighted. The book managed to animate reactions out of me, made me laugh, grumble, and in the end nearly teary too.. I'll be obnoxious and say that the best compliment I can offer is "I loved every moment I spent on it!", because you know what? I can't even begin to describe everything I felt into this review of mine. All words I use, are going to fall short of how I felt. So the comment above gotta suffice.
Note--> You might not like it as much as I did, though if you liked this review even the barest bit, I request you give it a try. You'll only come out with a good read, if not the one of the great reads I experienced. ;)

P.C. Cast has become one of my favorite writers ever. I started by reading house of night. So it was nice to get away from the whiney teenage drama and into something I could connect with. I love that all her women leads are strong, and independent but not hard to connect to.
I would have given this one a 4 star rating had it not been for the ending. I would not stand for a trade off that Lina and Hades got, and well, he couldn't body jump like Dylan. In the end I started crying, very happy that my emotional connection to the book was rewarded with the happy ending that you were hoping they would find.

It's probably only 4 stars, but the last page almost made me cry so that gave it brownie points. =)
I got into this book faster than the previous Goddess books simply because the main characters inner monologue stayed in her head.
I really enjoyed Apollo. He was so sweet and loving. A man who knows the meaning of the word romance is a remarkable occurrence. Him and his fear of "metal creatures" was funny and cute, although a little cheesy. Oh well though...

In the Goddess series, Cast can make you believe it is absolutely possible Via situations. The hero and heroine can not make it through to a happily ever after. However, she always finds a unique way to pull the story together at the end. Each book has an amazing life-altering event or decision that I have found unique in this genre. These stories are more than just the traditional "Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl" that most romances are based on at the core.
The heroine doesn't NEED the hero in order to become a better person or to win the battle against her inner demon(s). The situations that Cast puts her characters in helps to mold them into better people, even if they don't seem to need improvement.
Cast's heroines always have a strong sense of character, backbone, good moral compass, and won't be trampled on by anything or anyone. They are definitely not waifs. The heroine knows the true difference between right and wrong and when put into a unique and traumatic situation, she discovers and chooses the "right decision" even if it will cost her the happiness that she craves and truly deserves.
Romance is woven beautifully into these stories, but getting the guy is not the only goal. Though these books are quite romantic there is not sex for the sake of sex.
I have seen often, authors who write series will have a basic foundation that is present in all the books in that series. This is the case with Cast. There are certain events that, though slightly different by circumstance, are the same in all the books. An example is the dilemma that will introduce the mortal and the god or goddess. Though these points can be predictable in the storyline the way Cast writes them makes them utterly unique. If you like one of these books you will likely enjoy them all. I encourage anyone who enjoys romantic stories to read at least one of these books. They don't have to be read in order to get the full enjoyment.

When hardworking Pamela Smythe whispers her wish for a god-like man, she never expects to find one--especially not in Vegas. But the goddess Artemis has dared her twin handsome brother Apollo to change all that.
That's all there is on Goodreads about that book and since that as well is a reread for me, I have to start of with admitting that the first few pages were really boring for me, but then, I knew the story. It really started to kick off for me when they meet the first time: Apollo, one of the most handsome men this earth knows, and Pamela, a woman just as normal as you and me. The sparks are there, the sweetness and the most adorable, helpless guy a girl could wish for. Not knowing anything about our world seriously causes Apollo troubles and I love how he still tries to deal with it to best way he knows. Whenever he points out that he's just a man trying to win the woman he loves??? Oh yes, that made me a tiny puddle on the floor because it seemed so true, so real! This whole series really makes me believe it could be possible.

After the initial, somewhat rocky start I couldn't put the book down and finished it in one reading. I loved the whole character development, loved Pam's assistant and everything else about this book.

I adored this book my favorite book in the series so far. Cast started the book out well and introduced all the main characters swiftly and smoothly. after the first couple of pages I fell in love with Pamela Apollo and Artemis which I did not expect because she was stuck up her own arise pretty much (just my opinion). but once the book started to faster and then introduced E.D. Faust that's when you find out that even the goddess of the hunt has a soft side. once it get there P.C. Cast does decide to slow the pace of the book down so we can get to know the characters in the book abit better, but she does it so smoothly you don't notice it until after the book picks up the pace. The book all the way through is slow then it's fast all the way through (unlike most books I read go straight into the story or they take there time) but all the way through the book Cast does it so well you only notice it if you think about it. Over all I loved the book, the story line, the characters, the Greek mythology, the romance and the evil vilan everyone will grown to hate.

I just love this series! P.C. Cast shows us a world where gods and goddesses mix with modern mortals and the fun adventures that ensue. This is another awesome addition to the series. In this book, we are given a different take on Apollo. I love the relationship that grows between Apollo and a mortal. WHile, this is not the first time that I have read this book I have fallen in love all over again. If you enjoy stories about the ancient gods this is definitely the series for you. Enjoy!!
Third time through and I loved it! However, I just wish we got to see their HEA's. I want to know about their kids and what happens after their second chance.

Öncelikle kitap çok güzeldi ama 2.sini geçemez...
Ben artık pc cast in çarpıcı sonlarına alıştım demek istiyorum ama hala şaşıp kalıyorum. Gerçekten ben bu sona gülsem mi ağlasam mı bilemedim :D nitekim gülümseyerek ağladım...
Gerçekten uzun süre etki bırakacak bir kitap. Eleştirime gelirsek bence seri daima tanrıların dünyasında geçmeli vegas ta iyiydi orayı gitmeden görmüş kadar oldum betimlemeleri harikaydı ama yinede hikayeye yakıştıramadım. Karakterlere gelirsek apollon çok değişmiş! Genelde serilerin %90 ında matrak komik ve çapkın insanlar u dönüşü yapar aynı şey söz konusu yakında serpedon u da okursak hiç şaşırmam :D bence aynı kalsaydı ve biz kitapta değişimi grseydik daha iyi olurdu. Bayan karaktere gelirsek bence serideki umutsuz dullar konseptine bi dur denmeli. Bunun dışında ilk iki kitap aksiyon bakmndan daha doluyken bu kitapta yoktu. Şahsen yazarn bu kitabı aceleye getirdiğini düşndrdü bana ama güzeldi orjinaldi ve şu aralar çıkan en orjinal fantastikti kesinlikle öneririm bence bu seri herkesin kitaplğnda olmalı.

Before reading Goddess Summoning, I haven't read any other book of P.C. Cast. Now I have to say that I would love to read them all (including House of Night). If they are half as fun as these serie's books then I can safely say that I will love them!
Mythology for me (being born in the very place those myths started their marvelous trip all over the world) was always something fun and intriguing. So, even though I don't like that the book takes place in Las Vegas, the Sin City, I like to say that P.C. Cast made a wonderfull job of weaving such a lovely story. At the end I almost had the urge to cry, after what Bachus did. Ugh!

I loved this book!! I loved the idea of it being set in Las Vegas instead of Tulsa, OK. I loved the character of Pamela and Apollo. It was such a sweet love story but i also liked the fact that Artemis wasn't happy about it all.
I thought that the ending was so sad with what happened to Pamela. But the good thing was that they got to live another life together and I loved the fact that Hades and Lina were in this one too.
I love this series so much and P.C. Cast makes the gods and goddesses so real.
I give this book 9/10!!

Mais uma vez fui surpreendida pela originalidade e pela forma como tudo se conjuga para dar vida a uma história simplesmente magnífica. Desta vez, a história tem muito do livro anterior, sendo que Hades e Lina são personagens que, inclusive, participam também nesta história e são o fundamento dela.
Toda a narração é efetuada na terceira pessoa, principalmente na perspetiva de Pamela. Por vezes, no entanto, temos a perspetiva de Apolo e de Ártemis e sempre com nuances de sentimentos e pensamentos de outras personagens que não assumem o posto central de pensamentos. A visão abrangente, dada pelos livros anteriores, mantem-se inalterada.
Pamela é uma mulher independente, mas que ganhou a sua independência à custa de muito sofrimento, pois tinha-se casado com um homem que aparentava ser tudo o que ela queria mas que afinal revelara ser um manipulador e controlador. Apesar disso é uma designer de sucesso com uma personalidade muito forte. Tudo o que lhe faltava na vida era o amor.
Apolo é o Deus da Luz, já conhecido do livro anterior, em toda a sua magnificência e esplendor. No entanto, sempre se sentiu de certa forma incompleto apenas satisfazendo as suas compulsões sexuais. Descobriu, através do seu novo amigo Hades e da mulher Lina, que lhe faltava a sua “alma gêmea”. A partir daí cresceu dentro dele uma enorme bondade.
Àrtemis é uma Deusa com tudo o que a palavra implica. Linda, poderosa e egocêntrica. A única pessoa que a preocupa mais do que ela própria é o irmão gêmeo. A sua viagem ao mundo mortal faz com ela aprenda coisas com que nunca contou. É uma personagem que sobe gradualmente na nossa consideração.
Baco, Deus do Vinho, surge como uma personagem mimada e maldosa de uma forma algo tresloucada. Zeus não precisa de muitas palavras pois mostra-se como um “homem” bom e justo mas imperfeito como qualquer mortal. Também temos um vislumbre de Hermes, o mensageiro dos Deuses, e de várias ninfas.
Mais uma vez uma história sobre amor, magia, sensualidade, sofrimento e crescimento pessoal. Mais uma vez, uma lição sobre as almas gêmeas e o seu poder para se reunirem sempre. Também é de salientar as descrições fantásticas do trabalho de Pamela, que são um enriquecimento surpreendente à história, e o traçar daquela linha ténue que é a mortalidade e a imortalidade.
P. C. Cast conseguiu mais uma vez encantar-me e deixar-me ansiosa por mais. A minha paixão pela mitologia grega não podia estar mais acesa.

A wonderful journey from beginning to end. I could hardly put this novel down because I was eager to find out what was going to happen next. When I reached the end, I was left wanting more and to know what happened next in the new life both of them choose to be with one another. I give this novel 5 out of 5 stars for being completely addicting and totally awesome. Cannot wait to read more installments of the Goddess Summoning novel series. I'm completely hooked.

I highly recommend this book to those readers out there who truly love greek. Though the book is a total fiction yet the love story between Apollo and Pamela is a two thumbs up .

I was in love with Apollo before reading this book and now i have countless fantasies about him. As a person who loves Greek mythology i really like P.C. Cast

3.5 stars. P.C. Cast is a bit of an odd duck. Gihugic? Really? I mean, I was down for the use of ginormous (because duh...that word is perfectly usable), but there has to be a stopping point somewhere!
At least there wasn't raging, explosive diarrhea in this book. Oh wait...
OMG, MS CAST. WHY DO YOUR CHARACTERS SEEM TO HAVE SUCH VIOLENT BODY REACTIONS?!
All kidding aside, I found Goddess of Light to be a fun little escape. I'm still surprised at how much less frustrating these books are from her House of Night series. There's still a small dose of silly behavior, but the dial is turned down quite a bit. I, personally, wasn't sure what Apollo saw in Pamela (she reminded me vaguely of some of my least favorite Kristen Ashley female characters) because from what I recall, most of their conversations revolved around her job and her love of fashion.
So I'll just focus on Apollo. I kind of missed all of his badassery from the prior book. He was less of a presence here. However, he was still entirely "male lead" material. So there we go. Me likey just fine.
As a romance/slash/sexually charged book, Goddess fit the bill for the mood I was in. Of the two books I've read in this series (I skipped number 1), both worked as entertaining late-night reads. This is the perfect kind of escape when you just want to get in to the story without having to work for it.
There's something about the notion of being with a god and possibly having a future as a goddess which makes for good brain candy. It's not a horrible fantasy to have, right?
Up until the end, I enjoyed most every moment.
NOW, that's not to say that the end was bad. Most readers will find the end completely endearing. This would have been an ending that I enjoyed in a literary fiction or magical realism book.
It WAS a good ending. And since we all know that romance books have happy endings, there's no spoiler in saying that the ending was happy (okay, there were no hand jobs...not that kind of happy ending).
BUT, I wanted a different ending. Did this same type of resolution actually happen with Apollo in the old myths/legends? Did Apollo even ever have a girl? Because I was unsure why

That when Pamela die at the end of the book and Apollo went to Hades to see Pamela they drink from the River of Forgetfulness to meet up with each other to be new soul mates again but Apollo had to become mortal and his sister Artemis save his throne for him but they did end up together with new names Kristin and Jordan

What did I really like about this book? Well, Apollo and Artemis always fascinate me. To find that Lina, from book two in this series, intrigued Apollo enough with her devotion to Hades was a great way to open the possiblity of love for him. Naught Bacchas - ensuring the twins were stuck in Vegas was a lovely way for not Apollo, but also for Artemis, to learn that there are more important things in their long immortal lives than toying with the emotions of others. Artmeis, coming to geniunely care for the eccentric human writer was a nice secondary storyline. Apollo willing to die for the human woman he fell in love with was also a lovely tale.
I'll admit I wasn't thrilled with the ending although it was tied up into a neat little bow and provided us with the insight that Artemis really had learned some lessons during her stint with humanity. I guess I was just bummed that the book ended with Apollo's happily ever after just starting and left to our imaginations.
Still enjoyable.

I feel obligated to write a review for this book because I liked it so much.
All of the Goddess Summoning books have a beautiful message in them and I have loved them all, but this book being put in the modern world of Las Vegas made it feel more real to me.
Im sure alot of us indentify with the heroines of this books, well I identified with Pamelas experiences, having had the same experiences in my past marriage she had in hers.
Running away from over protective, suffocating ex-husbands that want to drown you and break you little by little with the excuse of "their love to you" really hit deep within me.
Not only that, but also her strugle to allow her self to love and trust again. Realizing that love is also about getting hurt but enjoying each moment and learning from you mistakes.
P.C. Cast has a beautiful way of showing you that eventhough things might seem bad and dark right now there is always a light at the end of the tunel. The question is, will you stay stuck in the mud or follow the light to an opportunity for a new beggining?

The lingering question is what happens when Apollo and Pamela's lifetime as Jordan and Kristin ends? Apollo will return to his immortal body and Pamela in Elysia? Apollo can only visit Pamela in the end? that's it?
Does it mean Apollo lost his memory? Eons of memory and knowledge since his spirit is washed?

E mais uma vez P. C. Cast me supreende com este livro.
"Iluminada" é o terceiro volume de "Chamamento da Deusa" e onde conhecemos Pamela, uma mulher que saiu recentemente de uma relação obsessiva e controladora e que, desde então, fechou o seu coração aos homens. Numa viagem de trabalho a Las Vegas vê-se numa embrulhada quando invoca por engano Ártemis. O seu pedido era ter, de novo, algum romantismo na sua vida. E é aqui que entre Apolo, o Deus do Sol (ou da Luz) e irmão gémeo de Ártemis. Durante uma semana Pamela e Apolo convivem (com Ártemis a reboque) e aproximam-se.
A coleção "Chamamento da Deusa" começou com o livro "A Deusa do Mar", um livro com muito potencial mas com alguns ajustes a fazer. O 2º volume da coleção "Deusa da Primavera", P. C. Cast escreveu um livro maravilhoso que fala de amor na idade madura e que me arrebatou. Mas com "Deusa da Luz" ou "Iluminada" fiquei completamente derretida.
As personagens são maravilhosas, em especial Ártemis. Ao longo do decorrer da história é visivel uma grande mudança na sua forma de ser. Ainda continua a ser uma deusa, arrogante, e incomodativa, mas tornou-se uma personagem simpática e amorosa. O desejo que ela concede a Apolo no final do livro mostra o bom coração que ela tem.
E tenho a dizer que adorei o final! Maravilhoso e diferente de tudo o que já li até agora.
As almas gémeas encontram-se sempre.
A escrita de P. C. Cast continua fluída, de fácil leitura e viciante.
Recomendo.

Pek çok kişi Bahar Tanrıcasını beğenmiş , bense Işık Tanrıcasını daha çok beğendim. Belki bilindik Romantik film senaryosunda ilerlediği içindir bilemeyeceğim. Ama Artemis ve Apollon'un dünyada sıkışıp kaldıkları zamana bayıldım. Özellikle Apollon traş etmek yerine kendini doğradığı sahne görülmeye değerdi :))

This book was extremely difficult to enjoy. I wanted to as I love Greek mythology, however too much of the plot was just annoying.
I didn't like the heroine. She didn't grow on me. Short hair is not befitting a heroine in any story it's just wrong. She uses the same annoying words from the House Of Night Zoe character such as "gihugic" and "ginormous". For teen Zoe it's annoying but age appropriate, for a 30 year old heroine not so. In fact, Pamela sounded like a grown up Zoe! She was just plain boring, too self absorbed and judgmental.
Apollo- one of the greatest Greek gods , I expected more arrogance and power in the Alpha male super role model. PC Cast made him a boring doormat to an equally boring heroine. And curly blonde hair? Come on! Which hot guys do you ever see with long curly blonde hair? Even if he is a god, at least make his hair palatable to the masses. I can't think of a single guy that fits that description and would be deemed hot, no matter how hot his body is. Then there's his size. At over 6 feet 5 or whatever he was, funny how petite Pamela was always able to meet his lips and body. Normal petite women would need to be hoisted. Also he is described as bigger than large. Now take the curly hair and gihugic body and all I picture is a WWE wrestler. Not an appetizing thought for a male lead in a story.
The descriptions though beautifully detailed, were too detailed that I found myself skipping through it. No normal heroine interior designer or not, is going to notice all that in the midst of a sexy man.
The language was also terribly distracting. Too formal. As gods that know the languages of all people, surely they know how to communicate in a less ostentatious way? Even Pamela. If she speaks the way she does at time then she is not being herself, she matching the formality of Apollo.
Bacchus was an annoying villain who's motivation was inane and not nearly exciting enough, nor believable.
Artemis was a mythological version of House of Nights Ariane.
In general this book was disappointingly boring. The conflict was boring. The characters boring. The ending was horrific to say the least. The mythology was misused in this book, garishly so. This is definitely my last Cast book ever.

Auch hier verliebt sich wieder eine Sterbliche in einen Gott, es ist aber etwas völlig anderes, da Pamela nicht weiß, dass Phoebus in Wahrheit Apollo der Gott ist bzw. das erst später erfährt und dadurch natürlich wieder ein Beziehungsproblem entsteht. Auch Hades und Lina tauchen wieder auf, weshalb man Göttin des Frühlings unbedingt vorher lesen sollte, da sonst vieles schon verraten wird. Außerdem hat Bacchus seine Finger im Spiel und versucht, sich an den Zwillingen Apollo und Artemis zu rächen. Die Charaktere haben mir genauso gut gefallen, wie schon in den vorherigen Bänden. Apollos Veränderung war spürbar, denn er ist nicht mehr der Frauenheld, sondern ernsthaft verliebt in Pamela. Pamela hat die gleiche starke Persönlichkeit wie die anderen Frauen von Mythica, ist aber trotzdem verschieden. Die Geschichte gefiel mir auch wieder richtig gut, da sie mal nicht weiß, dass er ein Gott ist und ihn trotzdem liebt und sich Apollo (!) in eine Sterbliche verliebt! Auch Artemis wurde mir immer sympathischer, als ihr Charakter halbwegs akzeptabel wurde. Wie die beiden Götter ohne ihre unsterblichen Kräfte in der sterblichen Welt zurechtkommen, war einfach nur köstlich amüsant! Çok erken konuşmuşum.. İkinci kitabın ardından favorim o demiştim ama bu da onunla yarışıyor.. Hangisini daha çok sevdim karar veremedim :)
Işık Tanrıçası ilk iki kitaptan daha farklıydı.. Bu sefer mekan değiştiren ölümlü kadın aksine Işık Tanrısı Apollon oldu :D
Zavallım Lina olayından sonra hayata küsmüş ve ikizi Artemis'in teklifi üzerine babaları Zeus'un Las Vegas'a açtığı portaldan geçip eğlenmeye gidiyor..
