I learned so much from this little book of bird calls! I can now recognize several bird species in my yard and differentiate between mating and alarm calls. As a bonus, my cats are very interested in the many sounds this book makes!
Such a gem for any birders' repertoire. Naturally there are few species missing I would've enjoyed listening to (the vireos, for example), but a great resource for learning birdsong that I find invaluable. Loaded with information not commonly found in other bird guides, too.
This book is a must for my classroom… I love playing these calls for the children and over time quizzing them (all in good fun, by show of hands) when they have become “experts.”
Excellent, excellent book! I am a citizen scientist bird watcher and data keeper for Cornell University Ornithology Department. This book has helped me immensely in teaching my children to identify birds by their calls. They can pick out what birds are making what calls when we are on nature walks or just relaxing in the backyard. Great resource!
This is a great book for novice bird watchers. It comes with recording songs of the birds so you know which bird you are watching. It's fun for kids too.
What fun it is to listen to bird songs and compare them to my backyard birds. My cat and I love this book. It's a great addition to my research library.
