The tale of a modern day boy who tumbles from his bike and wakes up to find he has traveled back in time to the spring of 1864 in rural Michigan during the Civil War. His southern accent, cultural views and even the sport he loves all come in conflict with everything he has ever known. The story unfolds as his new 19th century friend, Sally Norton, helps him learn the ways of this war-torn Northern community. Written by Robert A. Lytle Illustrated by Bill Williams
Interesting time-travel, historical fiction, sports story from the perspective of a young man twice transplanted from his home.
There were a lot of details about life in the 1800s that I didn't already know and a great deal about vintage baseball, which now I really want to go see played.
I love time travel stories and I love baseball. Of course, I loved this book. It is a nice historical fiction. The history of baseball is really nicely mixed into the story of the boy who goes back in time. And the cover is beautiful! Please read this book!
This is a great example of historical fiction. The history of baseball is intertwined within a fiction story of a boy that goes back in time. The best part is he plays modern day baseball and is introduced to a whole 'different' ball game. A must read!
